Send Data When From WebBrowser Control To Application?
Aug 13, 2009
I currently have a simple VB.Net WebBrowser program uses webbrowser control, I 'd like to have certain data returned by a sever in the open web page send to the VB.net program, i.e. retrieve the html response from ASP.NET page.
i need to query a database a user's Full Name, when data is returned by the sever side script, it won't do any update on the web page, instead it should notify the VB.net program what users' full name is.

I cannot seem to successfully send the Enter key to a webbrowser control using .net. I can succesfully send postmessage Tab key and it tabs through the links and controls, but it does not click on the link when I send Enter key.The website I am opening has frames, and due to the cross frame scripting policies microsoft forced into the IE control , I cannot retrieve the links from the IFRAMES on the page. So my alternative thinking is to use Tab keys to get to the link and then press Enter.

I wanna send POST data to the current web page viewed in my webbrowser. It's for logging into a page so the fields are "Username" and "Password". And then I might have to make it press the "Log in" button?
EDIT: It was easier than I thought when you don't need to do it silent in the background.
PHP
WebBrowser1.Document.GetElementById("username").SetAttribute("Value", txtPassword.Text)WebBrowser1.Document.GetElementById("password").SetAttribute("Value", txtPassword.Text)
Now I just need to figure out how to press the submit button

We have a VB.Net app that has several editable reports and forms in html/javascript. I'm using the standard WebBrowser control. We're accessing the content via filepath, since using localhostsharename when the machine is offline doesn't work even though the content is on the machine. The problem with that is that then it's running in the local machine zone, and you get the warning about running ActiveX controls (even if that's set to 'allow' in the options menu on IE). So I'm using Mark of the Web to act as if the content is saved from localhost. I appended it with the requisite vbCrLf to the start of the HTML page that's being dynamically written every time a link is clicked. When I open the resulting page in IE, I no longer get the ActiveX warning, and everything works. However, when I use WebBrowser.Navigate to that filepath, I still get the warning. Any idea how to get rid of that?

I have a vb windows application with 2 forms, where form2 is called from form1 using form2.showdialog()
I added a web browser control to form2, and I'm getting the following error at the point where form2 is called:
Current thread must be set to single thread apartment (STA) mode before OLE calls can be made. Ensure that your Main function has STAThreadAttribute marked on it.
I tried:
1) adding STAThread() to the form_load()
2) I added a module to my application, and created a sub main(), with the STAThread attribute applied to it
3) I marked the sub startup() with STAThread()

I made a simple application for a website, the site has a IRC-chat and the program should let you close the window (or actually minimize it to the system tray), and then open it from the tray.the problem that occurs, is that I keep getting a Script Error from IE:url...the weird part is that this does not happen when using Internet Explorer on it's own.so it only happens within the WebBrowser Control in the application I made.the application, also, couldn't be more simple, it had just a single window with only a webbrowser control that loads url..., further the program only has a Notification Icon and a Contextual MenuStrip for the Notification Icon.

I have a Visual Basic.Net Windows Forms application to which I am considering adding the WebBrowser control. I'm assuming that the PC's on which this application will ultimately be deployed/installed will have the latest Windows (XP, Vista, or 7) updates, a firewall, and an Internet security suite installed/running.
With this deployment environment in mind, does the WebBrowser control make my application or the deployment PC vulnerable to any significant security risks? Are there any programming issues that should be addressed to eliminate potential security risks when using the WebBrowser control?

The control behind the scenes is "HTEcab.dlI can bring it up in the toolbox, but I don't know how to make it work. There is no documentation I know of.So, I tried using the webbrowser control and going to the web location where the Terminal Emulator resides It is the ite and the private page is Sabre_view.asp (AKA WebPCFos). This brings up the terminal window and you can access the companies info thru this 60"s style technology.

I'm attempting to populate fields in a processing webpage [URL] and having a small problem.
I can add the email and antenna heights easily but how do I manipulate a file browser (file upload) and option input boxes (Antenna Type) from within my vb app?
It might be the long way around but i'm doing it via searching each of the html elements to find the named fields I'm looking for:
Dim intWork As Integer
For intWork = 0 To WebBrowser1.Document.All.Count - 1
strWork = WebBrowser1.Document.All.Item(intWork).Name

I got a window form, and I want to send data to another computer or a server over internet after the submit button is clicked. Yes, this is a very "general" question (I cant not ask it in more detail), because I don't have any information how to do that, I google it, and I heard WCF, but I am not sure how it actually can do this job (seem like WCF is related, but still researching).

I use the webbrowser control to navigate to certain websites and login and retrieve some data. For that I created a sub for each website. On the form i have a button that calls every sub when clicked. The problem is that I don't know how to pause or stop the process once started. If I quit the program it will still run in the background until all calls complete. I tried to use a thread, but that doesn't go well with the webbrowser control.

I have written a vb.net desktop application for pipe collectors and one of the requests that seems popular is to be able to post pipe details (text) and an image of the pipe onto the user's facebook wall.
Basically the user will bring up their pipe details of choice and be able to click a 'Post To Wall" button which would then post the pipe details onto their wall.

I am trying to send keys to a control on my form. But I am getting a NullReferenceException and I don't know why. The code is about as basic as it gets: [Code] The error reported is object reference not set to an instance of an object but Send is a shared method so doesn't need an instance. Strangely if I ignore the error it works fine and F4 is passed to the control. I know there was an issue with sendkeys and UAC but I thought this had been solved (I am using 4.0 framework).

I am writing a few web based apps which will require a webbrowser extension. I have already used the IE webbrowser control that uses the trident web rendering engine. I believe this is MSHTML.DLL? Anyway, some of the users of my programs have complained of a few things. Particularily,
1. It seems to be a slow browser, at least compared to other rendering engines out there (webkit and gecko are 2 known ones).
2. On the developer side, it seems to be low in features. The features are sufficient in most cases, but there are some "special" things that I need.
3. It has VERY low HTML (and especially HTML5) compliance.
My question is, how much work would it take to use a different engine (such as webkit .net, which I HAVE heard of) and be able to distribute it easily. Or, if you guys feel ambitious, we could try writing a brand new engine ourselves. I know how big of a job it is, and frankly, I have no clue where to begin. I would just like your thoughts and opinions on the matter.
