Is there a way to get the color at a certain mouse position in the active window? I remember doing it with AutoIt Script, but I can't find any references for it in vb?
View 6 RepliesI have this code working fine , it takes pictures of the correct size and correct file name , however , all the pictures it takes are in the top left corner of the screen , rather than where i have the form to. FYI the picture box in the middle has no picture in it , and is transparent , i want to save a bitmap of the contents of the picturebox ( a user defined size of the screen). The picture box and button are docked so that the form scales properly when being resized.

how i can set screen position for control(Like Button)?
*I'm talking about position(screen), not about location
I'm trying to move the mouse pointer to a certain position on the screen.I've done the declarations for both the SetCursorPos as well as the mouse_event, however I keep getting a Declaration expected error at this line: SetCursorPos(x,y),Perhaps something is wrong with the project or vb as well, cause I used an other declaration as well and when I wanted to use that I also got a Declaration expected error.[code]....
View 2 RepliesI have now had two occurances of (different) users "losing" their frm position. I save the position to my.settings in the formClosing event ... and this is the only place that these values are set. When the users loaded the form the first time it worked just fine. At some later point the for got repositioned to -32000 (top) and -32000 (left). I now check for this and reposition the form when it is not on the monitor, but I'd like to understand what causes this. I'm using VS2010 and compiling against .net 3.5
Is the formClosing the wrong place to put the logic to save the settings?
I am currently trying to read out my absolute cursor position on the screen. I read some threads in the "Legacy Visual Basic (VB 4/5/6)" Forums but this is as far as I get:

View 4 RepliesI have a ScreenCapture class that allows me to capture the content of the screen by specifying a X Y value of the top left and X Y value of the bottom right corner of a rectangle. This all works fine, however the problem that I have is that I want to capture the content of a panel on a form, the panel obviously has a location X and Y which gives me the top left position and I can use the width and height propoerty of the panel to determine the bottom right position. The problem that I have is this obviously gives me location of the panel on the form and not the screen. The other problem that I have is that this form is a MidiChild for another form.
So basically what I want to know is how can I get the location of the panel but as a screen position?
How can I position a form at the bottom right corner of the screen when the form load?
I use visual basic 2010 express
here;
Dim x As Integer
Dim y As Integer
x = Screen.PrimaryScreen.WorkingArea.Width - 400

I'm literally just started learning VB today and need to find the location of Form1 on the screen.
View 1 RepliesHow do I get the name of the (topmost?) control at the cursor position? The background: I implemented drag'n'drop from a dgv to a label and need to identify the control where the mouse button is released. I have enabled dropping on the label where the drop is going to take place. However, this label is the parent of say a hundred labels that are created dynamically in codebehind (I use this way to create a "dataview"). Therefore, I need to know which of these "child" labels the user drops the data onto.
I can get the mouseposition without problems (Me.PointToClient(Cursor.Position).ToString), but as I said, I can't get the name/text/ID of the control the user dropped the data on. Also, I ned to get the child control's name/ID/Text, not the parent label of course. In addition, it seems as if I can't select the row I click on in the dgv anymore, after I implemented the DoDragDrop on the CellMouseDown event. Any ideas? Should I use another event?
I'm having a difficult time getting cursor's position within the window I tried using : Cursor.Position.X and Cursor.Position.Y but it returns the position of the cursor on the screen and not in the window...
View 10 RepliesRight now I have a program in which I'm trying to read the mouse cursor position relative to the window form, but I am currently having a problem. It only works if the mouse is directly over the form, and it will not work if I hold the mouse over an object, such as a label, a command button, or a picturebox. I tried resolving this by adding handle clauses for mousemove over those objects, however, while it works for the label, it doesn't work for the pictureboxes. This is because the pictureboxes are in an array and are defined at runtime. How would I go about resolving this?
code in question
Private Sub Form1_MouseMove(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles Me.MouseMove, lblStat.MouseMove

Does anyone know how can I create a function to save the forms position / location and load the previus forms position / location when next time the app is started.
View 6 RepliesWell I'm not sure how to describe it so i uploaded an image that has 2 different control box positions.
[URL]
The one on top is set up as Render Mode=System while the other image is set up as Render Mode= ManagerRenderMode
Both applications were developed in VB using VS2005.
Each one has its MDI container and their MainMenuStrip set up..
What property/reason would be causing this? I just created a test program simulating the same case (MDI container with child forms) and everytime i maximized the control boxes appear in the correct position.
I need to set a variable upon the user scrolling to the end of the text on the textbox ("Scroll to end to accept terms") type thing but I can't seem to find how to get the value.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to use a windows form as a custom contextmenu which is fine as I have done a form with translucent background colour. However the problem is that I am having problems displaying the form at my cursor position. I have a mdi chaild form in my app and when I right click I want to display my custom contextmenu form at the point where I right click in the mdichild form. The only other thing is that I want the middle of the form to be displayed at the cursor point.

View 2 RepliesHow do I get my Form1 to resize so that all the (components) buttons and datagridview, etc. stretch and grow with the screen, but stay in their relative positions? I've tried adding Panels around the elements and docking and anchoring, but, so far no success. Elements scatter and don't hold their position, etc. Is there an easy way to do this?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to make a program that allows me to operate a program while I am not around (kind of like a bot) because I need to move alot of things and do the same motion over and over.
So in my program's settings I have made a form that is transparent that I want to set my working area with (i wont be resizing the form, it's size is "975, 575") and save the forms Top, Left, Bottom, Right positions so I can create a macro for my mouse to click.
how to save a forms position on the screen? So I can use it to set a working area?
I just want to save its current location to 4 variables
I would like all additional forms opened by some command the user performs on the Form1 to open in the center of Form1, no matter where the user has physically moved Form1 on their desktop screen. The application itself (Form1) is a small box with dimensions of 442x306 that will open even smaller forms on top of itself. Right now, I have everything positioned to open in the center of the screen so, in theory, everything works/looks fine as long as the user doesn't move Form1 anywhere.
View 15 RepliesI have a delete button in a datagridview. The button works fine however when there is nothing to delete it throws an index out of range exception. Now I know for a fact people are going to click that button even though there is nothing the I am presuming the best course of action is going to be a try/catch but I am not sure how to do it. My code is as follows,
Private Sub DataGridView1_CellContentClick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventArgs) Handles DataGridView1.CellContentClick
