Is there a simple way when using a datagrid to restrict the user from changing existing records but allowing them to add them. I have lookup tables that I want them to be able to add to but not edit the existing entries.

I want to add some text beside the text which contain "T" I have the same value below the line DETECT,ON but i just want to add text to the lines between FMAT,2 and DETECT,ON. Can i use indexOf methode to get the lines between FMAT,2 and DETECT,ON

When I populate a combobox with items that have a line and text drawn in the DrawItem event, only the line image for the first item in the list appears in the drop down portion of the combobox. The other items (index>0) shown in the drop down portion of the combobox do not contain an image of the line, yet each item in the list does contain the designated text. The correct line image does appear when the user selects an item and the drop down portion of the combobox is not visible. How can I get the line image to appear in every item of the combobox when the drop down list is activated?

I have a datagridview bound to a datatable and i want to add a line to it. I cannot add al ine to the dgv, because it is bound so i add the line to the datatable using Me.BurdensCRMDataSet.dtlines.Rows.Add() however this seems to add two rows - let me explain a little further: A dgv always seems to have what i would call a 'blank next' row, a blank row at the end of the dgv, which as soon as the user populates with data another blank row appears after that - maintaining this 'blank next' row provides a simple and easy way for users to keep manually adding data to a dgv
This also seems to work fine when the dgv is bound to a datatable, an empty dgv would have 1 row (the 'blank next' row) and the datatable would have 0 rows, each time the user populates the 'blank next' in the dgv it is added to the datatable and a 'blank next row is added to the dgv, so the dgv now has 2 rows and the datatable has 1 - and so on and so forth However, I cannot programatically populate this 'blank next' row on the datatable, because it doesn't exist yet in the datatable, only in the dgv and if I programatically populate it in the dgv it isn't added to the datatable and a 'blank next' row isn't added to the dgv

I have a line of data that represent a data import. When the import is done, I would like to keep that exsisiting line, and add another line for the next import. I have a form with a listbox. I'm adding items to the listbox through a file that I saved. When I open the file, I want each line/string in the file to go in as a separate item in the listbox. I've gotten it to work so far but only with 1 string. I need to loop the part where the file is being read to be able to add all the strings that are within the file to the listbox. How do I do this? So I am populating a combobox with all the computers time zones and then by default selecting the local time zone. I can populate the combobox but the selecting of the default item has me puzzled.[code]So maybe my lack of understanding this but when i bind the collection to the combobox does it not get filled with TimeZoneInfo objects. In other words isn't each list item of type TimeZoneInfo? If so why doesn't the qdx assignment not work? I get back a -1 which means it couldn't find the timezone object in the combobox but it can find it in the tzCollection. I also experimented with .SelectedItem but that didn't pan out either.I'm just not understanding how this is supposed to work. It works now because I think there is a one-to-one mapping from tzCollection to the cbo items.
View 1 RepliesI am adding data points to a MSChart spline type graph, and the graph that is displayed after I am finished adding the data points is very choppy and not like a proper spline curved graph. It's more step-like than flowing. if I manually add data points to each series I can create a very smooth and flowing spline type graph. Here is the code that I am using to add the points:

adding to the binding source then setting the combobox to selectedIndex of newly added row is not working.the new row is in there but it does not set the selectedIndex to the specified index. but if I run the code a second time it selects it.what can i do to make sure the combo uses the specified index?

1. I have a DataGridView box, that is connected to a MySQL database via the 'Data Source'. I am trying to do the datagridview1.rows.add("info here"), however i receive an error i cannot do this programmatically. I have discovered that the "selectedindex" is somehow inexplicably changing itself back to -1 As an experiment I added a button to the form and on the click event pasted "mycombo.selectedindex = 1".I added a newrecord then clicked this button and the combobox updated as expected. how to count the lines in textbox1.text (with multiplelines). I don't need to count each character. I only need to count each line from top to bottom in textbox1.text (multiplelines) and I will use Label1 to display the numbers.

The only thing I can do for now is either use the substring function to remove the first character from all array values after 0 but I don't like that because it's messy and what if the split "works" as I want it to one one of the lines and knocks of the first character when I don't want it to.

In our projects we use setting variables to store user setting for the applications. Moreover, with every latest version of the applications, we upgrade these variables to retain user settings.Normally, this works fine, but recently one of my end user reported an error i.e.Configuration System failed to initialize". The error is related to user.config file. Therefore we requested the user to send us his file.After received the folder, we noticed that it contains 3 files (3begfjb.newcfg,3begfjb.tmp and user. config). 3begfjb.tmp is an empty file, while 3begfjb.newcfg and user.config are identical files. We tried to open these files but the data in user.config isn't proper xml rather its unreadable formatted file.Do any you guys had experienced this sort of issue or any ideas how and what may have created these files and corrupted user.config file.

View 2 RepliesI am trying to create a simple Word doc that when the user presses the button it takes the information in the boxes and tosses it into a template style paragraph. But my issue is that I have two combo list boxes as seen in the picture. I want to have two values in the drop down list as seen in the labels next to them but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Word 2007. In Visual Studio this is much easier but I am work and need to snap this out for the folks at work. Is there an option that I can choose in the properties where I type in the values for each drop down or do I have to add them in at run time?
View 1 RepliesI'm adding labels at runtime to my form with a tag. Let's say I have 3 labels with the tags, "1", "2" and "3". I'm adding the tags by counting the labels + 1. When I remove a label with tag "2" from the form there are only 2 left. When I add a new label it will add a new tag "3", but that one already exist. So my "solution" isn't a very good one Although tag "2" is free, I want to give it "4". Any thoughts on how to code this properly?
View 2 RepliesI have a text file containing lines of data (File 1). I need to delete all the lines in another text file (File 2), which are found in file 1.So I could read file 2 line by line. And then once the line has been read, read file 1 line by line to search for a match. But that's going to be painfully slow.Or I could read file 2 into memory. And then read file 1 line by line and REPLACE the lines in file 2 with nothing, therefore deleting them. File 2 could be 100 mb, so I'm not sure about reading it all into memory.
