I'm using VB2010 (10.0.40219.1 SP1Rel) and .NET 4 (4.0.30319 SP1Rel) on Windows 7, when I press F1 for a VB item I get help for VB 2008 and .NET 3.5; how do I set those to the correct values? I have run "Check for updates online" under "Manage help settings", and rebooted; no change.
I am creating a Html editing application using Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express, and I want my application to have two kinds of documents; a project, and a template project. How can I make it so these documents all display an icon that I have made? Also, how do I set them to open in my application by default, when the program is installed, or first run?
VS 2010 is rather annoying in that its sub windows always seem to be moving about and I have to put them back where they belong. It seems that I've completely lost one window now however- its the one that should go below solution explorer/to the right of the error reporter where all the information for the highlighted entry is displayed. How do I get this back/restore defaults of the way things are displayed?
I am developing a software and give to user sevaral time. When i give them i change Assembly version of my software. But problem is that when they update new version they lost all application setting. Application setting save with new root with version. Is they any way application version not to change with version. save only one root by application name or something.
I have bunch of default strings and ints throughout the app. like default names, etc, etcThose are all constants. I just want to access them in different pages in my app. What is the best place to place them? I was thinking about Enum or something similar. What is the best approach?
Well I used the Visual Studio 2010 installer to install my application and I want it to be able to change the version displayed in the in the Add/ Remove Programs (in the Control Panel). How can I do this without going through the install wizard again?
I have a few SQL connected check boxes in my form. The problem is that on the 'Add New' event the check boxes go into a "intermediate" status (filled in). What I would like is for all the check boxes to be unchecked.I have so far tried the following and none of it worked.[code]Nothing seems to help, in fact there seems to be no effect at all on the check box properties no matter what I do (wether I change the property in VB, in the table definition, or programicaly).
So I have an .aspx page loading up and populating drop downs based on a lookup table in the database. What we want is for the user to be able to configure which of these values comes defaulted by specifying that value in a drop down somewhere else in the app. Now, it's easy to default the "first" value, or something like that, but we want this to act differently. Is there a JavaScript function that can run immediately after onLoad (so the drop downs are populated already), that can go through the drop down and make one of those default so it looks like the page is loading with that set as default and people don't realize the workaround? (weird masking, etc.)
Here is an example of how we add the dropdown control to the page: With CType(.AddControl(New Controls.ComboBox("CodeId", "../../../../CodeId", "Code")), Controls.ComboBox) .ForceSelection = True .ValueField = "LookupID" .DisplayField = "LookupDesc" .Validate.AllowBlank = False .ForceSelection = True .ReadOnly = EditControl.IsFieldReadOnly(10580) .BindData(Model.Codes) End With
I have a text box which has a Ajax calendar extender attached. You click on the text box, the calendar pops up, you select a date and that gets displayed in the text box. That all good but the date is displayed in mm/dd/yyyy format. Can this be changed?
I have a form that has many controls. My next task is to populate the phone number (MaskedTextBox) and phone number type (ComboBox) when the cursor has lost focus from a ComboBox that has auto complete functionality. I have tried to do it and when the cursor leaves focus, the other controls are not populated. Nothing happens. I do not get any errors either. Screen shot attached for the form and I am also using a stored procedure to do this. There are two tables in question here. A client table that the name and phone number and then the second table that has the phone number type (cell, work, home, etc). There is an FK relationship between the two.
This is my stored procedure. It is called sp_GetClientInfoByName. vb CREATE PROCEDURE sp_GetClientInfoByName
What's the best way to store that the app is beta? You can't enter letters in the assembly info version (a "b" would be great). So is a setting who is set to Beta = True the best? I don't want to hardcode it, I want it to be at one place in the program.
Is there any way to make my programs use a lower version of net.framework other than the newest version 4 that comes with VS2010?I use my programs within a closed network and there isn't an easy way for me to install any software since I'm not the administrator.
I'm a second year A-level student (12th Grade U.S. equivalent) studying Computing, Physics and Maths. I like anime, PC gaming, climbing and mountaineering. That's an insight to who I am. Thought I'd add it here to my first post since I couldn't spot and introductions section.
I'm trying to add functionality to my application that will disable buttons and checkboxes depending on what version the OS is when the app is launched. I made a test app to test this but unfortunately I can not get it to work. Here is my code:
'OS Check Dim osValue As Object osValue = My.Computer.Registry.GetValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrent Version", "CurrentVersion", "5.2")
[Code]...
*Note - 5.2 is Windows 2003, 6.0 is Vista, 5.1 is Windows XP
I have created a license system for my application with MySql about half a year ago. What it would do is take the serial number and send it to my server if the key was correct it would return a 0 if its wrong the return value would be a 1.The problem was that when the serial number was entered correctly my program would create a "fake file" for example vb.dll in the system. And on run time my program would check for that vb.dll if the file exist it would skip my trial program and run the app as a full version. Half year later i think creating a "fake file" and checking for it on start up is extremely wrong and that's not very good security. How can i check the difference between a full version and unregistered version?
I have a XML file with the latest application version number, I have this loaded into a variable, how can i compare this against the application.info.version to see if it's the latest version??
This worked fine in VB 6...but does not in 2010. Any ideas of what I have to change?
If Gun1Avail = "No" Then targetcount = 1 Do Until targetcount = 7 If frm.Controls("Target" & targetcount & "Gun1") = "Blah" Then frm.Controls("Target" & targetcount & "Gun1").BackColor = vbRed End If
Since my VB6 days I've longed for this feature. Every time you build a version it increments by one. On VS2005/2008 I've seen a few 3rd party programs or tips and tricks to get something similiar. I mean who wants to see a version no. like 1.0.1234.5678789 I used to use autobuildversion but can't seem to get it working on 2010. Has anyone managed to get the auto increment to work in any shape or form. I can't find the AssemblyInfo.vb file to edit so my program is stuck on 1.0.0.1 unless I manually increment it? I mean is it so hard to implement a built in auto increment function, or am I missing something?
Let's say I'm trying to have a program that will check for a version.txt file online, and enable the user to download a new version of my .exe.Here is an example of how i get the new version. I apologize for the old syntax, but i just got out of VB6 and am still learning FileStream, etc. Inetconnection is just a function similar to Webclient.DownloadData.
I am currently working on creating a environment variable editor which will analyze your JAVA version and add/edit your class paths accordingly.I wanted to know how I would go about getting the JAVA version that is running on the computer. So I will basically have a button that is clicked then the java version will be displayed in text box 1.
I'm a novice who does not need installers yet and does not collaborate and I was hoping someone might be able to point me to a simple guide for incrementing versions and backing up the source files so that if I ever needed to I could get back to the previous versions. I just don't want to get into Visual Source Safe, Team Builder, or other big hairy version management software. Also my VB Express book only talks about using the ClickOnce solution which doesn't seem like it's a fit for my needs. I'm thinking I should be able to do a build manually incrementing the version and manually archiving files or folders to a certain location.
How offer a trial version of a application on visual basic ? I looking for something the user can't not uninstall and reinstall the trial and start again the trial period, so when the trial period finish the can not use the application anymore.
When you look in the "software" that you have installed you see the size of the software and the version. After I have installed my software I don't see the version in the list. Only the size of the installation. I was wondering how I can change that. Could it be that it is because I used InnoSetup and I need to set it in there or is Windows reading the version of the .exe itself?
Am very new to programing and have never done it before.I am working on very small things at the moment like showing the time and date very basic stuff. i have some books and video's so am going over but i just need abit of code for now -
