Pull URL From Shortcuts So When Program Opens Can Have It Open To URL In Shortcut?
Mar 9, 2009I created a webrowser in VB.net to track employee usage and it seems to be working fine but I wanted to find out what it would take to set this as a default browser on a PC.I also would need to know how to pull the URL from shortcuts so when the program opens I can have it open to the URL in the shortcut.

I have a number of shortcuts on my computer desktop that take me to my various folders (documents, music, etc) and have always been able to navigate using them when I open a file through applications such as Word. However when I use an OpenFileDialog box in VB.NET and select one of these shortcuts to take me to the file I'm after I am getting the following error message...

Aug 19, 2010In a VB.NET Winforms application, I have a form that contains both a datagridview and a textbox. I have some menu item entries that have shortcuts of Ctrl + X, Ctrl + C, and Ctrl + V that operate on the datagridview. However, these override the default cut, copy, and paste shortcuts for the textbox. How can I make the menu shortcuts only apply when the datagridview has focus?

Jun 2, 2010I have some VB.Net WinForms I imported from VB2005 that are MDI Child forms. In the old project the clipboard shortcuts work (Ctrl-V, etc.) but in the VS2010 project they do not. the ShortCutsEnabled property is true.Any way to get these working again without adding special code to replicate the feature? I have a bunch of forms to convert....The parent does have KeyPreview but I can comment that out and the problem still exists. I also hook the TextChanged event for dirty logic but I can comment that out also to no avail.

Apr 30, 2009I want to use the same menu shortcut keys in a MDI child as in the parent...the problem is that the parent seems to receive the Event first and is calling his menu entry. The child (though it does have the focus) does never receive any event whatsoever...I can bypass this behaviour by adding a Textbox to the Menu, and the moment that one has the focus the menu shortcuts are working as expected (child gets it first, after that it's passed through to the parent).

Nov 26, 2008How do I enable Ctrl+C, Ctrl + X and Ctrl+V for textboxes in my application? I can copy, cut and paste by right-clicking the textbox but keyboard shortcuts won't work... Also, in the menu under Edit I have Cut , Copy, and Paste but they don't work either. Under the code for these buttons I see the following:

Sep 1, 2011I have no idea what I have done wrong here, so I'll just attach my project as a zip file and see if any of you are kind enough to look into it for me.I am reasonably experienced in C#.NET but having trouble using VB.NET for a school assignment.I cannot open half of my forms in designer view because "To prevent possible data loss before loading the designer, the following errors must be resolved".

Nov 3, 2009i was doing a fair amount of programming many years ago, like 10 it feels like, so I'm sorely not up to date on how my newly downloaded Visual Basic Express expects me to communicate with it.I am writing a program that pulls a cell from a database after the user has gone through several forms to determine which cells they want. When I write it like that, it doesn't sound very efficient, but I've designed it this way for usability.Here's where I have a problem: Should I store the path the user takes in a string, an array, what?
Here's an example:Someone wants baseball stats and trivia. They run my program, main form pops up, they select National League button, the NL Form pops up. Now the way my program is set up right now, is there are two ListBoxes on the form, one is populated, and as the user selects a Team from ListBox1, it jumps to ListBox2. Once they've selected all the teams they want info for, they click a button Next.
What I now need the program to do is show the next form "Team: name" once for each team, and insert the name of the team on the form in the appropriate label which I'll have blank. This form will also do the Listbox thing except the first listbox will populated with Topics like HR Stats, Pitching Stats, Coach History, etc.
Forms :: Multiple Forms Open And Close
Apr 16, 2009I have two forms frmMain and frmNew, and one module modMain. In modMain I hold public variables which are needed for application. My question is how to open and close those two forms when needed? I ask this because if i set frmMain as startup form, then when closed, application will end, and one of those two forms will always be displayed. Also if I set frmNew as startup form, then when I close this form, application will also end. Is there a way to do this from module or something so my application won't end after closing and opening any of those two forms?

Mar 2, 2010I would like my forms to open as part of a "bigger" program, where there is a screen that fills the monitor and inside this screen is my form, centered. When a new form is opened, only the new form will be displayed...it will not be form on top of form.It would look similar to the screen in the following link, except the form inside the bigger screen would not have the minimize, maximize, or close buttons.I am just wondering if there is a property in VB.NET forms that will allow this to happen.

Whenever i am opening new from the current form should be minimized and new form should be visible and when closing the new form the old one should be viewed again. "&Goto Here" is not underlining the G until I press the ALT key.Is there a way to have this underline the text that I put an ampersand in front of when the form/application starts instead of having to have the user press the alt key?

Jun 2, 2010At one point I have a dialog form open, but in order to process it, the user might want to access information on other (open) forms. This would necessitate the ability to move/resize/scroll the other forms, but obviously everything is frozen during the dialog. I don't suppose it's possible to achieve this "semi-modal" state, where other forms can be browsed, but no other actions taken?
