how to do a simple screen saver using VB.NET when the user do not use my application? DO i need to use API programming in order to do it?I just need a simple screen saver that will load my flash file (swf) into my webbrowser on my WinForm if the user no longer use my application.Note that this is a Window-base application, NOT web-based.
View 4 RepliesCurrently we are using a VB script macro created in word to create some fairly simple forms based off of data entered on a data entry form. I am very new to VB, and I have been able to create many applications using forms, but I have absolutely no history creating reports. I have been reading up on the reports, and it looks like they are designed to use with data sources like tables. I merely want to take either data from the entry form, or from data derived internaly from processing the user entered data and populate a defined report "form". I have been searching, but there is so much on printing reports, that I feel overwhelmed. I am not looking for the exact answer as much as a link or place to look for a sample for what I want to do.

im making a web browser which is intertwind in a project, but i cant get the progress bar to display the current percent of a page that is loaded, i want to have 10 segments, each standing for 10% of the total page loaded. So say a page is loaded 67%, 6 out of 10 of the segments will be shown.

I have developed a form for Windows VB.Net that uses a number of text boxes that are indidivually bound to separate columns in a database. When one of the textboxes (let's call it XYZ.Text) is bound to the database, it prevents the data from any of the other bound text boxes to enter the database. When the binding for this one text box (XYZ.Text) is removed, then all the other text boxes work fine.

But I get an Object Block or With Block error when trying to access SelectSingleNode("block") on the second "set" node, since that node doesn't have a "block" node.I also have a feeling that the way I'm approaching the view is all wrong. Is there a better way to get this simple XML data into the view so I can work with it?
So another first timer question.I have user entered data from a form that gets put into separate strings. On another form i want this data to populate a Tree view when the user presses a button "Add data". There will be only one stage of parents and child. oParent and oChild. The oParent string will only have like 5 items but the oChild will have like 30 and these will be repeated for each oParent. Not sure how populate this, i cam guessing with some sort of For Each i in oParent, add i or whatever, but not sure of the syntax.

I found some very complicated examples, but managed to put the pieces together into this simple test program.I first import System.IO.Portsthen I define a new serial port and give it the required parametersI open the com port when the form loadsI have two working buttons, one to pan left, one to stop panning. View 1 RepliesOk, I'm half convinced that this is such a simple question that no one has ever needed to ask it in the history of google.I have a double datatype, which contains a currency value. This is returned by an API, so I can't just change it to decimal.The variable gets populated with this: 5.37979542325911E-315, which I took to mean that the current balance was $5.3797. This is incorrect!
So my question to you guys is: How do I convert a double to a data type I can use for currency?
Note: Cdec() and other casting to decimals hasn't workd. It's set the decimal to 0D.
I'm trying to use an XmlTextReader to read simple XML data from a file I wrote using the XmlTextWriter class. I've very little experience with XML and reading/writing from it, so it's been a little struggle. The writing part went OK though, but I can't really figure out how to do the reading. All examples I found using google handled it all slightly differently, and none made it really clear what they were trying to read...I am storing the position, size and a filepath of MDI windows using this format:
