I wrote the below function to sleep, while processing the window events. It works well enough, but I'd like to improve the accuracy of the sleep. Example - If you call it with 10 msec (0.010), it can take up to 15 msec of real time before it exits. How to make it closer to 10 msec?
Public Sub Spin(ByVal TimeInSec As Double)
Dim tsStart As TimeSpan = Date.Now.TimeOfDay
Dim tsNext As TimeSpan = tsStart
Dim TimeSlept As Double = tsNext.TotalSeconds - tsStart.TotalSeconds
'wait for Time seconds

"'I'm having an issue sorting out why my code isnt working. When I "step into" it line by line i can get it all to work exactly how I want, however when I actually run the macro i get an subscript error 9. The code basicly sets a .CSV url to a variable "CurrentURL". The code then launches this url which opens a .csv window called table.csv. I want to copy 2 columns off this window and paste it to another document called "MPT_CAPM_v1", then close table.csv. Here is my code the red line is where I believe I'm running into my error.'This macro opens a URL, copies and pastes the price data into the sheet
[Code]...
I think the error may be caused by the fact it takes about 4-5 seconds to open table.csv in excel, and my line of code is trying to select a window that isnt currently open. After I get the error message, table.csv opens up. I've tried Loops & Sleep functions to try to input a delay, but regardless it seems that table.csv will not open until the end of said loop or delay.
Is there a simple sleep function in Visual Basic that doens't involve thread.
Something similiar like there exists in: C: sleep(1);
We also tried this code:Declare Sub Sleep Lib "kernel32" (ByVal milliseconds As Long)' pause for 5 seconds Sleep 5000 but it didn't work. It gave me this error: PInvokeStackImbalance was detected
I am writing an ASP.NET class that interfaces with an external application. The flow of the transaction between the web server and this application is as follows:My object writes a file to a directory.The outside application detects this file and processes it. This can take between 1-5 seconds.The outside application writes a response file to the same directory.My object detects the response file and parses the results.The 1-5 seconds it can take for the external application to process my file is my problem. The most straightforward way to wait for the file seems to be something like this:
Do While Not File.Exists(f) Thread.Sleep(500) Loop
Of course, Thread.Sleep() completely locks up the rest of my website until the outside application processes the file. Clearly, this is not a workable solution.How can I effectively "wait" for my file to be processed without locking up the rest of my website?
After the 7th line I need a pause until a submit button pops up on the screen. The submit button is hidden until the getelementbyid.focus is run. I cant use webbrowser_documentcompleted because the submit only unhides itself, and I cant use Sleep() because that just stalls the whole block.
Currently I'm using System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000) to let my app pause/sleep for some time. This works great but I can't open my app anymore when it's sleeping and it uses about 25% of my CPU. I guess there must be a better way to do this. I also tried using a timer but that didn't work out to well for me..
Say I have a simple web app written in asp.net/vb.net. The web page has one button. When you click it, it does some junk in the code behind. What I would like to do, is when the page reloads, after the server has done its thing, to execute a JavaScript function.
Now the only stipulation is that it can only happen if the button was clicked. Not just on any page load. Is there a simple way to do this?
I am creating a window that is a generic keypad for editing numerical values on a touchscreen. I would like to press an 'edit' button to create a copy of the keypad window/bring up a reusable version of the same window (I don't care), but pass in parameters: the old value I'm manipulating, and a title to be displayed above the number pad. I would like the user to be able to type in the new value, then press the 'done' key to submit this value and have it sent back to the main application window into my custom control that contains a text box.(I have the number pad's layout sorted out already; I'm already using a variation on it to set a global password 'access level'. It's getting the information in and out that has me scratching my head.) [code]
I just learned some basics of multi threading in VB.net recently as I came across processing a large List of records and inserting them into SQL database one by one.
I have code look like this:
Private Sub btnLoadNow_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLoadNow.Click
Dim autoLoad1 As New Thread(AddressOf AutoLoad) autoLoad1.Start()
[CODE]...
Itemlists is a global lists i retrieved from database, everything looks fine to me but when i run this program, I found that the threads are inserting one records 9 times into the database(I have 9 threads in total), which makes me think that maybe i need to specifically assign 1/9 of a list to each thread? Is there another way to do it which doesn't require the splitting of the list, if not , how do i split it then assign?
Im a college student and this is my first programming class, i am having extremely diffcult time with arrays and sequential file processing. Im not asking for the whole program, just something to get me started and hints along as i progress with it. Please help me get started on my program, its due in 2 days.
Here are the requirements....
1. The program must input any number of individuals last and first names using two separate textboxes. 2. The array of names must be sorted by the last name using a bubble sort. You must code the sort. 3. The program must be able to recall the names from the file and add to the existing list of names so that more names can be added to, sorted, and written back to the file in sorted order. 4. Sort in ascending order: A to Z 5. All names must be displayed in a listbox in sorted order when the user wishes to see them. 6. In the listbox the last and first names must be separated by a comma and a space. Example: Smith, Mary 7. The user must be able to search for a name in the array, using the binary search algorithm. You must code the search. 8. Do not use module-level variables. Instead you may choose to use Static. 9. The program must be designed using Visual Basic 2008
I have A Wpf window with a Public Sub function(Window1). I need to execute that function from another window. Something like this:
Private Sub Window2_Loaded(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles Window1.Loaded Dim Window1 As New Window 1
I have the below code. When I execute this code, the handle is different between the Load event and the Shown event. I thought the handle was static for an instance of a window. What could cause the handle to change? The only other thing the form is doing is setting itself to invisible and setting the ShowInTaskbar = False in the Activated event.
How can I use mouse events to move and click my mouse in another window.
For instance, I would like to move the mouse to 62,88 of "Untitled - Notepad".
so far I have:
Private Declare Function SendMessage Lib "user32.dll" Alias "SendMessageA" (ByVal hWnd As IntPtr, ByVal wMsg As Integer, ByVal wParam As Integer, ByVal lParam As IntPtr) As IntPtr
I am looking to prompt the user to save data when they close a form window in a winforms application. I can't figure out how to trigger the prompt to the user, should they click the red box at the top right corner of the form.
My application currently has a boolean flag, that is set to True on textchanged event. So I will only need to check for the boolean value in whatever event is trigger by the red box.
[code]above loop does not update the text status of lable, while loop is running, it updates only at the end of for loop, but i tried with vb6.0 it is possible by using Do events.but i dont know what is the function in vb2010 beta 2.
I am migrating my code from vb.net 1.1 framework to vb.net 3.5In my windows application, the base window has some buttons and events are written for the same.I have shortcuts defined for these buttons also, for example: ctrl+d, DEL (keyboard) etc.Now i open a property Grid form on top of my base window for a selected object.Even when the focus is on this property grid, i am noticing that my base window events are firing on pressing those shortcuts.
example:I select some text in my property grid and hit delete button from keyboard. The delete event that i have written for the selected object gets fired and the text is not deleting.I fail to understand why is it happening. It wasnt behaving like this in .net 1.1.In .net 1.1 it would delete the text and only when the focus is back on the base window, hitting Delete would call the event.How do i control such a behavior? Is there some property that i need to set for property grid in .net 3.5 to prevent base window events from firing till the time focus is on property grid form?
I am very confuse over a Raise Events example and using delegate as a function pointer: I am clear with this function pointer example program below which creates a generic sort function for sorting integer arrays without changing the main sort function. ' Returns True if need to swap Delegate Function CompareFunc(ByVal x As Integer, _ ByVal y As Integer) _ As Boolean
Here are two alternative target methods for the delegate - one for an ascending sort and one for a descending sort: Function SortAscending(ByVal x As Integer, ByVal y As Integer) As Boolean If y < x Then SortAscending = True End If End Function Function SortDescending(ByVal x As Integer, _ ByVal y As Integer) As Boolean [Code] .....
is there anyway to sleep a thread for a "tick". i.e. the tick in StopWatch.ElapsedTick. right now the best i could achieve is this thread.sleep(1). i need it faster
Public Class Form1 Private Declare Function Beep Lib "Kernel32" (ByVal soundFrequency As Int32, ByVal soundDuration As Int32) As Int32
[Code].....
This code is apllicable for windows but when I run this into Window CE 5.0 in a handhaled scanner/mobile computer it wont run. windows are using "Kernel32" how about in window CE 5.0? The error appeared is " Can't Find pinVoked DLL 'Kernel32'.
I am using the code below to download an Excel file. Once the Response.End() call runs, I want to close window. However, this isn't happening.
Code I have so far below. 'Write it back to the client Dim filename As String = "FullExtract_" & Now.Year.ToString & Now.Month.ToString & Now.Day.ToString & ".xlsx" Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet" Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" & filename) Response.BinaryWrite(pck.GetAsByteArray()) [Code] ..... How do I close the window?
I would like to add a window preview function (live or not) to my application. Something like the mouse-over on the vista/7 taskbar. the only thing I have is the hWND to the program's main window.
I want to calling a javascript function from a asp.net modal window using vb. The javascript function is to close the same modal window. The function I want call is: function CloseModalWindow(winName)
I tried Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript
but that does not work. How can I do that from vb.net code behind?
how to use the timer to control the blinking? Cuz i tried to stop one timer, it did stop this timer but if i didnt stop the timer 1, both timer 1 and timer 2 will begin although the data is in different entity. By right if the alarm comes in from block 2, only block 2 button will blink, like wise if the alarm comes in from block 1, only block 1 button will blink
