I am studying Visual Basic How to Progra by Deitel on my own. I am a beginner. My last two programs I have received the error message: Sub Main() not found. I am certain that I typed it in underneat Module Comparison. The program will not run.
Could it be a naming problem? If so can I correct it without re-typing the entire program.
I am using 2008 Visual Basic Trial Edition. Would it be better to use 2010 Visual Studio Professional?

Here you can see my codesnippet. During runtime I get a "file not found" message, that is completely surprising to me. I had checked the existence of the application in the first place.

I'm trying to do the most simplest of things... open a text file. Not System.IO, just plain open a text file like you would double click it in widows.I have no problems executing other exe files with the Shell command but when I try:

Visual Basic 2010.I just started learning visual basic (im an extreme beginner) and whenever i mess around with creating code, it always gives me this error: sub main () not found in (my projects name). I searched this error up and Microsoft said it was a bug.
View 4 RepliesAfter getting a test WCF hosted in a windows service, I'm trying for another one (practice, practice, practice). I created a WCF service library, added one function. Then created a Windows Service, and added my WCF to the project. Did the rest of the stuff located here ([URL]) Now I'm getting this "Sub Mian was not found in [WCF app]" error when I try to build the solution. I didn't think WCF projects required a Sub Main as they are services and not applications. What am I doing wrong? I didn't have a sub main in my last project.

I have a solution with more than one project and the main project contains buttons to open forms from different projects that are in the same solution. Say Project1 is the main project and Project2 is the different project that gives the following error when i compile it:

I have this weird(!) issue that I cannot pass a path as a variable. I really tried everything but I always get the "Cannot find path" error when executing. I know it's possible in asp.net to create a custom error page in a web app, by putting the following line in the web.config: <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="frmErrorPage.aspx" />
I have had to do this for my web app, since it is clearly much tidier than letting the program bomb out with it's ugly default error page. My custom error page just has the customer's logo and a brief message saying "Error has occurred. Please return to homepage"The trouble now is that I have no way of knowing what caused the error, when a customer reports it.
Is there a way to make the actual error message appear on this custom error page too?
I dragged and dropped a label control on my web form. But then whe I go to my VB .net code behind file, if I try and set a property on that label control, I am getting a "Declaration Expected" error message for the label I created.Yet if I do try and explicitly declare my label control, the compiler tells me that the label control is already declared.[code]
