I have text and I want to convert it. Font name is Helvetica and I want to convert it in utf-8. Users cannot show this fonts on another computers. How can I do this in vb.net? Example I have this text "‰ €" in textbox. How can I convert textbox.text?
View 4 RepliesI'm creating a program in VB.net that does the following:At a high level I receive a file in email, put the attachment in a monitored folder, import the text file to excel, format the excel, and then email the excel file to a list of recipients.
Here is my plan:
Completed: Outlook VBA to monitor all incoming email for specific message. Once message is received drop attached .txt file in a specific network folder.
Completed: (VB.net) Monitor folder, when text file is added begin processing
Not Complete: (VB.net) Import text file to Excel
Not Complete: (VB.net) Format Excel Text file.(add in a row of data,format column headers with color/size, add some blank columns, add data validation to some of the blank columns that allow drop down selections)
Completed: (VB.net) Save file.
Completed: (VB.net) Send file to list of recipients.
Obviously the items above that are not complete are the bulk of the work, but I wanted to get some advice on what some of you think would be the best way to approach something like this. The import and formatting of the file are causing me some problems because I just can't decide what would be the most efficient way to do this.
The way stated above. Import to excel -> format Having a template excel that contains all of the formatting already done for me and attempting to transition the data to this document (no clue if/how I can do this). Is it even feasible? Have the template already created and then import the text file to a new excel file, then transition that data to the excel template?
Something I thought about, in terms of formatting the document, was to record a macro of me doing all of the formatting that I'm going to need and then attempt to convert that macro into my vb.net code, but I'm not sure if that will work. I will need to verify that the text file comes in the EXACT format every time correct?

My question is: How can I embed that font into my text editor so that it can ONLY use that font, and so that when I send my text editor app to others they can start using it right away without having to download any fonts?

I have a program that checks for the color under the mouse pointer. I also stores what I think is the RGB (could someone confirm this?) value for that color in a Rich text box and next to that in a text box the coordinates of the mouse at that time.The idea is to be able to measure the times between the bounces of a tennis ball in a video. The background is black and the tennis ball is another color.I wasnt sure how to say "if color is not similar to black... Do this"So my plan was to set the richtextbox font color to itself - as it is an RGB value. But thats difficult, it wants to change ALL the text in the RichTextBox, not just the current Value.Basically Ideally I would like it if it recorded the times between significant changes in color of the pixel and displayed them.

I need to save the font to a text file, so I don't need to ask the font each time the program runs.
The problem is that I see more font styles available than the font styles I get (they are limited to the fontStyle enum, which contains just 4 styles).
for example, this fontdialog shows 8 font styles (including semicomprimida):

But the .Font.Style property of the fontDialog instance only returns values in the System.Drawing.FontStyle enum, and I cannot save the user selected font style, nor instanciating a new Font, with that style.
I had an old program that I upgraded from VB6 to VB 2008. I am creating a program similar to it in VB 2008. There is a piece of code that I tried to enter into the program I am creating now from my old program. It tells the computer that if the label's text is a certain text that is on the clipboard, then the text size will be smaller.

When I insert this code into my new program, it doesn't recognize the "VB6" in the code.

The suggestions displayed No longer have any visible text, only just an icon (showing what type ofsuggestion). The only Text that does infact appear are numbers and special Characters( 1,2,#, (, )... etc.)I have already tried editing the font color, back/forground colorand size for the intellisense. Although nothing seems to work. I have also tried completely uninstalling VB.Net 2010 and reinstalling also repairing and still the problem remains.

I'm working on a document editor and I want the user to be able to change the font of a selected text. I have imported the rich text box control from the options menu and place it into my form. I have a list box containing the names of the fonts and when the user selects a item, it changes the richbox's current selected text.

I can't change change the font size or font name or color of the text in the DHTML Editing Control. I have 2 listbox controls FontNameList containing all of the installed fonts on my PC and FontSizeList containing some numbers to be used as fontsize and I use the execommand and build my App but the font did not change instead it grew bigger but when I tryed to change it back it stayed the same. For instance, I want to add a heading as bold ("HEADING: ") and some data after it as regular ("REGULAR Data")...

When I use the below functions to add txt to a single rtf box, I get lines in either all bold or all regular. It doesn't seem to keep the font formatting after it adds text..

Within our application, some of the object's text are effected by users with "Large font" turned on under Control Panel>>Graphic Properties. I can't determine what is the trigger to this behavior. I have many forms including TableLayoutPanels, ComponentOne Sizers, some objects with DOCK=Fill, and AUTOSIZE=TRUE. I wrote a simple Hello World form, and it is not impacted by the "large font" setting.
