I'm sure this has been addressed in other threads, but I wasn't able to come across any using the search function.I'm using the OpenFileDialog feature to have the user select a file. However, I want to have a label display the path of the file only.I've been using the OpenFileDialog1. SafeFileName feature to save only the name of the file, but I haven't found one that will save the path, but not the file name.I considered splicing the path and file name, but with an unpredictable path length and unpredictable file extension type, I thought it would get messy.
In our Vb.net project , we have included 2,3 PDF as resources.Requirement what we have is that when a user clicks on the download button the user should get the save dialog box where he can select the path to save the resource file.
We wrote the following code but we are able to save only in specific location.
Private Sub Label4_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Label4.Click

I am trying to store the filepath of uploaded files in a sql server database using vb.net. I have run the code at it uploads fine but nothing is being added to the database.

I'm using Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. I have a Folder Dialog Browser added in my form and I call it when the user presses a button. The folder path string is stored in a string variable and displayed as text in a text box. (maybe I should use a combo box)
My question is: If the user inputs by hand a non existent path, how do I return an error message, stop the file creation into the invalid path, and return to my main form?
Is there any literature which guides a user through the steps of deploying a vb project created with VS 2010 Professional and incorporating SQL 2008RE Database?
I have a VB project which incorporates 2 databases - 1 Access Db and 1 SQL Db. The project compiles and runs beautifully. However, after adding the databases in the project as existing items and deploying, the project opens/runs, but when I try to login the application I keep getting an error message telling me that the path to the .mdb (Access) database is not a valid path. I don't have a clue what else to do.
I am sending a DDE message to a client using System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(item) . However, before the message is actually sent, I would like to get the message coded where if the item="Ask" then item=Ask (string variable) and so on. The code is:
Protected Overrides Function OnRequest(ByVal conversation As DdeConversation, ByVal item As String, ByVal format As Integer) As RequestResult ' Return data to the client only if the format is CF_TEXT
I'm making a simple decoder. Type a message in the "message" text box and it spits out a code in the "code" text box. If you pop a code into the "code" text box it spits out the message in the "message" text box. Seems simple, right? Well here's my problem. I typed "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" to test it and it will put a lowercase "f" at the beginning, put letters that aren't supposed to be in there in there, and replace what should be upper case letters with lower case. I commented out the code for replacing symbols because it seemed to work fine before I put them in the code but still the same result. I checked over the code to see if I mixed stuff up. Like I accidentally put the replacement for a lower case "e" as the replacement for a lower case "h" but I can't find anything.
I'm currently writing a program that needs to open a file specified by the user, replace a certain string of text with a different string of text, and save it to the user-specified path. Here's what I have so far:
Private Sub forceButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles forceButton.Click Dim writer As New IO.StreamWriter(OpenChart1.FileName) Replace("", "E *", "N 5 0") End Sub
how to permanently save to text files then re-open all of the information again using SFD and OFD. Now my teacher has come back at me and said that i need to be able to save the information from multiple text boxes and have the text in certain labels to also be saved into the one text file (the labels need to be done because it is a database and these labels are like the fields and the right text box needs to match the right label)
I have a textbox that is filled with some carefully formatted text. I need to save the text in that textbox as a text file with the extension of '.scr' eg: File1.scr instead of File1.txt
I have a Access program and I'm using VBA code in the background to run Winunzip using shell command. Well, the path of the .zip file has spaces in it and it's not recongizing the path as a valid path. Is there a another way to tackle this problem besides the shell?I can't us pkzip either. Has you can see I had to use progra~1 instead of Program Files.[code]
I'm trying to find out if it is possible to something and really need your help.

i am making a quick program that will test the anti-virus on any computer. i am using the EICAR test that was developed by European Institute of Computer Anti-virus Research. so in order for this test to work i need a code

I wrote a code to save a data using text box but there are some error like : ArguimentException was unhandled. Cannot bind to the property or column User Privilege on the DataSource.Parameter name: dataMember
My code for saving is : Private Sub btnSave_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSave.Click Dim Con As OleDb.OleDbConnection
My program displays the current path that it scans. The problem is that sometimes the path is to large so the text gets cut off from the frm.I was thinking is it possible of cutting this log path.
Dim Seat As String Seat = txtSeat.Text.ToUpper If Seat = "BOX" Then
[Code]....
My ordeal is I need to display an information/error box when the user does not type one of the specified words. So if I instead type "cat" a message box will appear saying "Please instead type one of the seats in the list :)".
