I am trying to track which menu item has been clicked in a ContextMenuStrip. I am trying to do so in a ContextMenuStrip1_Click event. I want to track which item was clicked and pass the text from the cliced item to a variable. The code below does not work. I get the following error: "Unable to cast object of type 'System.Windows.Forms.ContextMenuStrip' to type 'System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripMenuItem'."

Also want it to load in the users default web browser if possible. I'm working on a little app for a small community online radio station and want to have a menu in the menu strip for the stations website, twitter profile and facebook profile. just want to ask help in terms of adding new menu item onclick event on an existing menu item. I have a window menu (handles all open window forms in the Parent) once a new window opens i used this [Code] but i need also to add an onlick event on all the forms being added, so when they click that sub menu it will open the form selected. My question is how can i add an onclick event for this newly added menu item?

I've got a dynamically filled datagrid view. When a user right clicks a cell in the datagridview, it opens a context menu, located by that cell. The context menu has two choices: A and B. I want to set the value of the cell to A if they pick A, and B if they pick B.I would like to pass the relevant cell as a field in the event args passed to ContextMenu's ToolStripItem.click. So the handler for ToolStripItem A's click event would read the relevant cell from the event args and set it to A , like this...

Im looking for guidance/example on how to track if a button was pressed so that I can turn on another button and turn off the first button. I am saving a bunch of user data to a text file & that works fine. Once the user enters all of the required data, I turn on button "btnCBSave". What I am trying to accomplish is once button "btnCBSave" has been pressed once, turn itself off and make button "btnCBNew" visable so that the user can enter new data.

I'm building a WP7 (VB.NET) app and have a custom class, PinInfo, of which I have two ObservableCollections, TempPins and FavoritePins.
In various parts of the app, I need a unique identifier to get a reference to a particular PinInfo in the collection, so at present, I assign an ID to the PinInfo when it's added to the collection, then later get a reference to the pin via the ID.
For example, if I create a button to delete a pin, I set its tag to the pin's ID, then the button click handler reads the button's tag to get the corresponding pin from the collection (via LINQ).
I generate the ID by adding one to the last-assigned ID, but these lists are often modified (i.e. items removed), so I end up with needlessly large ID numbers (e.g. just a few items, with IDs in the thousands).

I know that every coder knows how to do this, but i've read most of the instructions in the world for Visual Basic coding, but can't find ANYTHING I know coding fairly well, so I can modify it, but I can't create it my self.

If my form does not have focus and I click on a menu item (think File, Edit, View) the sub-menu does not appear. All it does it return focus to the form. I have to first click to give the form focus and then click on the menu. Most other programs do not behave this way. Is there anything that can be done to change it.

I have 10 textboxes on a windows form. Each textbox has the same contextmenu. Say they are named textbox1 - textbox10. What I need is when I right click in one of the textboxes I need to capture the name of the textbox in which the contextmenu was called. So if I am over textbox2 and right click for contextmenu then select menu item #2 in the click event I need to capturethe textbox control I called the contextmenu from (textbox2) so I can send that name to a function to process my other code.

I can do the context menu. When I'm NOT using a context menu, I can detect a right-click using the mouse click event.BUT how do I detect which cell that's beiing right-clicked on in a datagrid WHEN a context menu is being used (as the mouse-click doesn't seem to fire when a context menu is used - so I assume that the menu mechanism consumes the right-click message and doesn't pass it on so to speak).I have tried to manually call the context menu on a right-click, but then the context menu comes up at the wrong location.Rather than send a long listing of my multinedia program so far - here's something I tried as a separate proglet. I can send the long multimedia project listing if you like (so you can see why this it is important to resolve this little issue).

VB express 2008 .net 3.5 or .net 4.0 VB express 2010?I have written application to convert RTF to HTML. The main Purpose of the application is to copy VS code to the clipboard and covert it then put it back into the clipboard as a HTML Document so that it can be pasted into a HTML document such as Windows Live Mail. I found that code copied and pasted is spaced out in in the wrong positions.
The applications works perfect with no bugs so far. I then asked Myself how to go about doing the copy with the least amount of operator interaction. So I added an Icon to the Icon Tray with a right click menu to use to convert once the Rich Text Format was copied to the clipboard. This works fine except you have Five steps, Select the text, Copy to clipboard, Right Click the icon, Select the Converter and Paste. The normal is three steps.
To this the best solution is to add a context menu item to the active form such as the RTF editor or window. So that when you select the Rich Text to copy and right click on the form to bring up that menu then to Just Select the menu Item such as "Copy RT and Convert" I searched and found about 544000 Items and tried to restrict down to no avail. I read until I finally gave up. I did not find any code examples of this. Almost every thing I found related to the web or some other explicit document like Excel and not to the Various windows that could be active with RT in it.

I am learning how to develop Windows Forms applications with Visual Basic Express 2008, and my testing/learning application has a TabControl with a few test pages (3, for example, the number isn't relevant here).Now, I am handing the MouseClick event on the Tabcontrol, and I can't seem to be able to figure out how to get which tab was clicked on.I believe that the MouseClick event isn't fired if I click on another place of the tab strip, therefore a tab must have been clicked on.
