UI Application - Moving Panel By Mouse X
Jan 27, 2012
I'm making a W8 UI application and I don't want to use other companies controls so I am making it by my self, but I am getting a little trouble with that.
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
Dim formlocation As Integer = Panel1.Location.X
Dim pointerposition As String = MousePosition.X
Dim more As String
[Code] .....
I start the Timer when is mouse down and I stop it when is mouse up, but when stop and start again formlaction is 0 again. And I can make it work. Label1 is just to see how many PX the mouse is moving. The buttons are just to see the movement of the panel.

Taking the following code into the account: [code] This makes my entire form client area act like a cpation bar and i can darg it using any any part of it! Becuase i had a borderless form that is why i used this code (which is definitely not mine - no offense) . This works perfect in windows 7 but in lower OS versions it acts weired like even if user makes little dragging on the form occasionally this triggers and takes the form out of the bound of screen! I was wondering can i alter the above code somewhat like instead of intercepting the form area as caption bar it detects a panel (docked at the top giving illusion of a caption bar) and make that my form move. I know you brothers will make me say that using the mouse down mouse move and mouse up events of panel i can attain this, definitely i can but thought of some more professional approach. url...

I'm using VS2010 Express, and Visual Basic.I'm trying to make a fancy drop down list next to text box. When the user enters some text in the text box, the program will look up values in a database and show them in a list box (to easily select some existing items).The list box is in a panel control, which is initially hidden (and I have other stuff in the panel for other features.)If the query finds some entries in the database, I want to show the list box (and the panel and everything in it) and then move the panel so its top left location aligns with the top right location of the text box.I can get the panel to show (visible = true) but I can't get it to line it up with the top right edge of the text box.I'm using this code to move the panel after I set it visible.

I have one panel, and on that one picturebox with large image, so panel shows scrollbars.Now I am adding one picturebox to that picturebox (which is on panel).And when i move the added picturebox, it looks like, it is resizing the image of picturebox.Actually it is not resizing, but it seems like some barrier or something like that, or may be it is delaying in assigning the new position to picturebox. Additionaly, it works well with all other controls, just picturebox with image creates this kind of problem.[code]

I have a winform with a main panel that is anchored top, left; dock: fill, and set to a specific size to contain another panel of content that we want to scroll through. The other panel along with a few other controls are on the main panel. Now, for some reason, after running the application the controls will be shifted down (never horizontally) some random amount. Now, the "random amount" may in fact be the last position of the scroll bar or something, but either way, it is unintended functionality. I have resorted to automatically resetting the locations of these controls on the main form in the constructor?

I am trying to make a program that will include a drag/drop view where you can arrange objects around in a view and add/delete objects as needed (objects are actually controls I create dynamically), I have made some code which I include below.If I run this code it works but not the part when I click on a newly created control, then mousemove function is not used, I should be able to move controls using the mouse functions..but these do not work. I thought code like:
AddHandler logicif(i).MouseMove, AddressOf logicif_MouseMove
should work! Can anyone give me pointers on what I am missing?
Public Class Form1
Dim logicif(20) As Panel
Dim count = 0

I was getting some slightly unusual behavior when using the mouse wheel for some zooming/scaling work (only vaguely related to the earlier thread, for those who remember it). Frankly, it is likely that I have a bug in some code, but that wasn't quite enough to explain what I was seeing. Therefore, I used a error logging feature in my app to note the delta being passed in each Mouse Wheel event. I then ran the app and gave the wheel one good spin, which was about the maximum that I would normally ever spin the wheel in one steady, continuous motion. I wasn't going slow, I wasn't going fast, and I rotated it about as much as my finger comfortably could in a single roll.[code]I then rolled it back the other way using the same motion, and got 8 events, mostly under 200, but one of them was -331 and the other was -7940.
After a handful of tests, it appears that the wheel event is raised often, which is no surprise, but that the values fluctuate all over the place. With a continuous rotation, or as nearly continuous as I can make it, I can see a series of events with one of them easily being ten times the rest.The problem this presents is that the scaling I am using is not smooth (nor is it standard mathematical scaling, but that's a different story). Each zoom level doubles the size of the objects relative to the previous level, though the distance between them stays the same. I would like to do this by dividing the delta by some factor, and if that is above a threshold, increase the zoom level. That won't work smoothly, in this case. If I make the factor something small enough that I pick up a small rotation, then any larger rotation is likely to include a delta that takes the screen through all zoom levels in a single step. Alternatively, if I make the factor large, then all smaller rotations are simply ignored.One option would be to filter out rotation values below 200 and above 800, or so. I am looking for other alternatives.

When a user clicks the left mouse button and moves the mouse up or down moving the panel up or down. but I want to be able to click anywhere on the screen.

I currently use this code to move a control I have created (JobBox) around a form with the mouse.[code]...
I had thought I could use the MouseDown eent to take the control out of the panel and make it belong to the form and then check on the MouseUp event that the location of the control is within one of the other panels.

I would like to resize a panel at runtime using a mouse.I only need Vertical resizing.So, I have panel1 and docked a label to the bottom of the panel, this will be the drag bar.Now I'm thinking I need to use the mousedown event and capture the Y coordinates of the mouse? On Mouse up set my panel height to those new coordinates?Also, I'm pretty sure my panel won't redraw itself when this is going on. Should I set the panel height while I'm dragging?

I am making a custom menu. I am applying colors on panels on mouse enter and mouse leave.I have labels on these panels, and the mouse enter and leave events work snappy, but as soon as I hover over the label (on/inside) the panel, the mouse leave event is fired. I know I can just do the same thing for the label mouse enter event, but I am doing some other visual stuff, and I need to have the label mouse events totally disregarded.

I have a form1 with a splitcontainer. I have put a button on the left panel, whenever user click the button, form2 will be displayed in the right panel.The question now is, i am not allowed to highlight the textbox in form2 with mouse. But i still can use the keyboard to highlight.
1) Replace textbox with richtextbox
2) set formborderstyle to Windows.Forms.FormBorderStyle.None.
The code i am using to open the form in panel:
B_frmMaintain.TopLevel = False
Me.scMain.Panel2.Controls.Add(B_frmMaintain)
B_frmMaintain.Show()

I'm trying to make some autohide panels, which will show when mouse enters some area, and hide when mouse leaves the panel. This is however not so straight forward. I can handle MouseMove event for the form, to trigger "show" panel, and I can handle MouseEnter event for the form, to trigger "hide" when mouse leaves the panel. But this is not consistent, since sometimes mouse will leave the panel directly onto another control, and sometimes it will leave the panel directly "from" a control on the panel, and not from the panel itself.
Of course I could do the slow work and make logic for each control, but that is not very neat. Is it possible in some way to capture the mousemove event regardless of which control mouse is above?
