the problem is that "distinguishedName" returns "DC=our-domain,DC=co,DC=uk" and "name" returns just "our-domain", not the name of the user that has just been auth'ed
Note: the displayName.text outputs are purely for debug purposes.I have tried various combos of requests but nothing seems to return USER details. ETA: to the security police: this is all within a https connection, I'm not sending passwords about in plain text!
I have just implemented an Ajax File Upload control that uses a progress bar. I am a little confused. When i use the control on pages that dont use sessions, the progress bar with no problems will show the user the actual progress of the file being uploaded from 0%,1%,2%,3%.......% to 100%. Now when i move this control onto a web page that uses a session, this session stores the user information such as screenname, email, etc... the file uploads with no problems but the problem is that the progress bar does allow the user to see the progress until the file is finised uploading and the progress bar jumps straight from 0% to 100% uploaded and doenst really show the full progress of the file whilst being uploaded.
Why is this behaviour occuring when i use sessions? where the progress of the file being uploaded isn't being shown to the user until the file uploads.

Can I monitor the registry for changes similar to how sysinternals process monitor does it in VB? I have checked many different articles and C# samples but not come any closer to getting an answer, I would like to know if there an easier way (a VB sample perhaps)that you folks can share. Ultimately I'd like to be able monitor other things too like file system, processes etc but wonder most about how the registry can be done in VB...Would using system.management be a start? the weird problem im getting is if i run my program and click the add button with the textboxes being empty it correctly changes the bordercolor to red but if i press the tab key it removes all the red bordercolors, why is this?i dont want the tab key to clear the red bordercolors.
I am trying to communicate to a local AS3 Air app on my PC via sockets. The VB.Net app is acting as a server in this case while the Air app is a client. The .Net app sends data every 25ms to the Air app. I have not send any message termination. I just receive the data on Air app and process it.

Whenever the value in the fourth column in that log changes to or from 0 (regardless of what it changes to or from), I want to fire an email off (two different emails - one for the value changing to 0 - i.e. turning off, and a different email for it changing from 0 - i.e. turning on). View 2 RepliesI have several multi-line textboxes that I want to lose focus (i.e. when the user presses the right arrow key) but the control wil not relinquish the focus.Simply put, I first verify if the selection start is at the end of the text, if it is, and the user presses the arrow key, it should move to the next textbox. some debug.print code placed in strategic locations indicates that the target textbox gets focus and immediately loses it and the source textbox gains focus once again. Essentially not allowing the textbox to lose focus.

View 1 RepliesI'm unsure if this should be in Office Automation or here, but I opted for here because I'm creating a VB.Net program to handle all of the office automation and my questions are a combination of the VB.net portion and some of the VBA formatting. At a high level I receive a file in email, put the attachment in a monitored folder, import the text file to excel, format the excel, and then email the excel file to a list of recipients. [code]Obviously the items above that are not complete are the bulk of the work, but I wanted to get some advice on what some of you think would be the best way to approach something like this. The import and formatting of the file are causing me some problems because I just can't decide what would be the most efficient way to do this. Having a template excel that contains all of the formatting already done for me and attempting to transition the data to this document (no clue if/how I can do this). Is it even feasible? Have the template already created and then import the text file to a new excel file, then transition that data to the excel template?
Something I thought about, in terms of formatting the document, was to record a macro of me doing all of the formatting that I'm going to need and then attempt to convert that macro into my vb.net code, but I'm not sure if that will work. I will need to verify that the text file comes in the EXACT format every time correct?

I have a form that allows users to select file and then it reads the contents, parses the data and then executes a sql insert statement to add it to a database. What I am having issues with is showing real-time results. Currently, I have the import operation take place on the import form within the OnLoad event. The problem with this is it only shows the final results instead of the results real-time. Is there anyway to do this without creating a seperate thread and delegates?

The user then clicks a menu item "New" to save that info to a file. Then the next time the user inputs new DVD info it has to append the new data to the same file. (I got this far and everything is working writing and appending data)Next the year has to be able to search by DVD Video name and it has to print the info in the text boxes on the form, if not found then a messagebox should say not found. When I use the sub procedure that I have created to search the record it always comes back as record not found although the record in in the file.

I am currently attempting to write a program that will take a SQL query saved as a .sql or .txt and execute it against a specified database, and output the results to file. I have seen some sample code of executing a SQL query line by line,

I have been taking a class in Visual Basic and am currently working on my final project which I am having some trouble with. I am using Visual Basic 2010 express The project is to create an application that will store data in a text file, specifically, Last Name, First Name, Customer Number, Address, City, State, ZIP Code, Telephone Number, Account Balance, and Date of Last Payment. I have gotten everything done except the ability to search the file by Last Name or Customer Number. I have no idea how to go about this? I was thinking of ways to use indexof or Readline to be able to search the data, but I'm not familiar enough with the code to come up with a good solution. There isn't enough room to post the code for my secondary form, but you get the idea. I would like to be able to enter a search term in the textbox on the bottom right of the form, and either search the data as its displayed in the listbox, or search the actual file? I was thinking that the results would be displayed in a messagebox?
So i'm new to working with vba in access and i'm having trouble getting this code to work. What it is suppose to do is take a selected text file and read the original file into a list box. Then there is a second button that when pressed will convert the text file from a pipe delimited file into a tab delimited file and then show the changed file into a new listbox.
