I'm learning VB.NET coming from a VB6 and Java background.In my app, I've got a function that validates the fields on a form. All it is doing is reading them, not updating. I've searched and see info about the backgroundWorker class, but all the examples are about updating the fields.I understand the idea of threading and how it works, but have never written code that spawned threads myself. I've always let the language handle it. It seems like a lot of work that I would have to write a sub using the backgroundWorker for every time I wanted to read or update each field. The couple of books I've got that introduce you to the language show you reading or updating the field directly.How do I know what threads are running other than writing the code like I'm used to then running through debugger to figure out what variables are on which thread?

I have on my form two datagridviews that correspond to the same table. They are both databound. They have been created automatically through dragging them from the datasources windows.One is datagridview and the other datagridview1. When ever I navigate through a datagrid the corresponding row on the other grid changes as well. I do not want this. Also I want to be able to fill and use each datagrid indepentent from each other. To fill a datagridview on load I use this code

the weird problem im getting is if i run my program and click the add button with the textboxes being empty it correctly changes the bordercolor to red but if i press the tab key it removes all the red bordercolors, why is this?i dont want the tab key to clear the red bordercolors.

I am trying to communicate to a local AS3 Air app on my PC via sockets. The VB.Net app is acting as a server in this case while the Air app is a client. The .Net app sends data every 25ms to the Air app. I have not send any message termination. I just receive the data on Air app and process it.
I am working in windows forms with Vb.NET 2008. I am trying to read text in from an external program. So far I have been able to read text in from a standard text box or button, however I am trying to read data in from an external data grid.

Usually if it is a standard text box I will get the text data with no problem, but it is a standard data grid and there are no further sub handles to try and read from. If WM_GETTEXT wont read information from an external data grid then how would I read in the data?
I have just implemented an Ajax File Upload control that uses a progress bar. I am a little confused. When i use the control on pages that dont use sessions, the progress bar with no problems will show the user the actual progress of the file being uploaded from 0%,1%,2%,3%.......% to 100%. Now when i move this control onto a web page that uses a session, this session stores the user information such as screenname, email, etc... the file uploads with no problems but the problem is that the progress bar does allow the user to see the progress until the file is finised uploading and the progress bar jumps straight from 0% to 100% uploaded and doenst really show the full progress of the file whilst being uploaded.
Why is this behaviour occuring when i use sessions? where the progress of the file being uploaded isn't being shown to the user until the file uploads.

1. when i pick a value from a combo in next col of data grid which also have a combo should populate conditionally.
2.when i edit the cell having combo previous selected value is overwritten by first value of combo it should be if i select any value from combo but should not over written default as i click the cell. (edit mode is on click)
3.by pressing enter key cursor should jump to next cell in same row . means navigation should horizontally but should jump to first cell of next row if cell is last cell

the problem is that "distinguishedName" returns "DC=our-domain,DC=co,DC=uk" and "name" returns just "our-domain", not the name of the user that has just been auth'ed

I have several multi-line textboxes that I want to lose focus (i.e. when the user presses the right arrow key) but the control wil not relinquish the focus.Simply put, I first verify if the selection start is at the end of the text, if it is, and the user presses the arrow key, it should move to the next textbox. some debug.print code placed in strategic locations indicates that the target textbox gets focus and immediately loses it and the source textbox gains focus once again. Essentially not allowing the textbox to lose focus.

I am using a Webbrowser control to sign into Hotmail. Then once it is signed in then I'll just use this navigate code to open the inbox:I think that the problem is that the actual inbox(mail window) is within an iframe. I have to figure out how to call within the iframe.If you can goto hotmail and sign in and you'll see once your in the inbox when you view source it isn't the inbox's source but then when you right click then goto this frame then view the source to the frame it is.

I am trying to add datagridview control in my custom control but i failed.I started creating new project[windows custom control library], added datagridview control on it and also added a property naming "DGVMain" which refers to datagridview control.I compiled it.
While testing i find its properties like visible and other working but when i click on columns property it doesn't work. i.e i cannot add/edit columns into the datagridview of my custom control.

However I want to print all rows and/or collumns even if they are not showing in the dataGrid window. .PrintVisual() just prints data that fits in the dataGrid window. I want to print all data. Lets assume that row 2 has a data and I inputed the data in row 3, however I change my mind I deleted the data in row 2 and that will leave row 2 blank. Is there a method where I can remove the row 2. The first thing come up on my mind was use a timer wherein it runs all the time.
