Updating Excel File Using OleDbConnection Not Working?

I am currently writing a program in vb.net that will read and write to an exel sheet using OleDbConnection. I can read in from the file fine. When I save to the excel sheet and open it, the changes are there, however, when I close the file it asks me if I want to save, which makes me assume that the changes are not saved even thought they show up.
Below is the code I am using:

I'm developing application in VB.NET 2008.I'm reading data from Excel through OledbConnection. Here data are reading sometimes perfectly but sometimes it is missing to read some data.
Example :In Excel ,I have 79 columns in excel and 4 rows , first 3 rows are headers so after import i'll delete that rows and actual data starts from 4, so here i have only one row.After Reading through oledb, that dataset's datatable has only first 3 rows( first row became header and 2 & 3 row only in datatable, its ignoring 4th row)

I've got a little app that uses oledbconnection to extract data from an Excel spreadsheet. I need this app to support .xls and .xlsx files. The app runs fine when I give it a .xls but when I select a .xlsx it crashes with an exception on my cn.Open command.

I'm trying to copy multiple excel source files into one excel file. My current code is working only for 3 source files..If more than 3 files are there, it doesn't copy the data but creates blank work sheet in the output excel file. Lets say I have a source folder with 5 excel files. Each workbook contains one worksheet with data. It copies upto 3 worksheets along with data into output excel file.
Lets say excel1 contains A as work sheet, excel2 contains B as work sheet ,excel3 contains C as work sheet ,excel4 contains D as work sheet ,excel5 contains E as work sheet .Now my output excel file should look like..OutputExcel with A, B, C, D, E along with respective data.But my current code is giving output as A,B,C worksheets along with respective data but its creating blank sheet1,sheet2 in place of D & E.

This is starting to drive me nuts. I'm executing a DTS package from a worker thread that is calling an EventListener class to update the background worker ProgressChanged sub. As instructed, the ProgressChanged method is trying to update a progress bar to avoid thread issues but it is not working. I know the EventListener is throwing events because if I put a message box in ProgressChanged I get the package progress %. Why can't it update the progress bar?

I am having trouble binding data to data repeater when I use ISyncResult.This is what I am doing.There is a button inside a Update Panel that gets the input from the user and calls a function that returns a dataset that I then bind to data repeater which is also inside a update panel.What I did is that I made a delegate to this function, now I am calling this function like this

I am having hard time figuring out why the data repeater is showing no data.While debugging this I see that the dataset is getting the data and is passing the the "ds" but nothing is showing up on my page even though the data is being passed to controls inside data repeater while I am debugging.

I"m completely stumped. I've looked here[url]... Changed my connectionstring appropriately. My dataset is fills with data. The Excel file already exists, but has nothing but a Header row. I am working on trying to update a list of items to an Excel spreadsheet. I have created my own custom class called Songs and a List(Of Songs) that I want to update the spreadsheet with. It seems like everything is working -- I have even put in a debug msgbox that displays what Song it is currently on while iterating thru the loop -- but after the code iscomplete, I check the spreadsheet and only the first song in the list gets updated. I'm thinking it must have something to do with either the connection string or the parameters that prevents it from updating any other song records. BTW, there is no errors being tossed so it ats like it everything is being processed, just that the data doesn't change for the update inside the loop. Here is the section of

I am using asp.net oledb to export information to excel file. I encounter problems when the information to export becomes too big, in this case the code I have given below, the excel file generated becomes an empty spreadsheet.If I changed the loop to 1123 for insertion of the rows. The generated excel file is fine, 1125 rows, and 4 columns shown.A test program in windows form is also working fine regardless of how many rows.[code]I couldn't find a solution to my problem as well. What I did eventually was to run the process using another separate windows service. The code works perfectly fine running from a windows form or service program, but not asp.net, not sure why.

I have this issue that occurs with me and driving me crazy i have a report that contains thousands of records and i need to export it to excel , but the excel normal extension .xls
is showing missing records at the end of the file , so i save my file as an .xlsx extension it saves correctly but when i open the file it generates an error
"Excel cannot open the file '<var>filename</var>.xlsx' because the file format for the file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file."but when i test the file i drag it and open it in an empty notepad all the records shows up correctly

I am using oledbconnection object with access database engine 64 bit to get data from Excel file. While using sqlconnection object if sql string has these statements "SET ARITHABORT OFF;SET ANSI_WARNINGS OFF;" , then division by zero exception doesn't cause any problem. But while using oledbconnection these statements cause error. My code samples are below:

I'm converting a VB6 + ADODB app to VB.NET 2010 and targeting both x86 and x64 I understand that ADO is available in both 32 and 64 bits and that .NET supports it.The VB6 code uses ADODB and ADOX to work with OleDb and Odbc data sources. It also uses the Jet and Replication Objects 2.6 library to compact and copy Access database files (if the uderlying database it's using is Access)I'm wondering if I should consider using OleDbConnection/OdbcConnection in the .NET version of the software or stick with ADO.I've looked at OleDbConnection, OdbcConnection and SqlConnection and can see that porting the old code over would be time consuming and risky.

The problem I have is that I have a 3rd party add-in working in excel to convert certain info into a barcode.
When I open excel normally, the add in works without a problem, but when I open it through excel it just doesnt work until I manually go into the add-in option, disable the add-in and the reenable it.

I am working with a project where i am opening up excel worksheets, sending data to them and then printing the worksheet. I have been working specifically with Office 2010 and have everything working exactly how i want it to work. Recently i have been asked to make the same type of thing work for users using older versions of office.
So as a test i took one of the worksheets opened it in 2010 and saved it as a 2003 document. I went into the code switched the .xlsx over to .xls and gave it a shot. It appears that the code opens the correct file. Sends all of the data out to the worksheet and then the program bugs out.

HI!, i'm using VB.NET 2005. I want to use OleDbConnection in my .net application but it is not showing in the 'Data' section of the 'toolbox'. is there any way to import it to the toolbox.
NOTE: (Also OleDbDataAdapter, SqlConnection,SqlDataAdapter, etc are missing in toolbox)

I have an application that opens up Excel, reads some information, then closes Excel. I developed this application using Microsoft Office XP 2007. A few weeks ago, my company upgraded to Microsoft Office 2010. The applications still works fine, but I can not compile in VS 2008 anymore. I get the error message: "Error 3 'Application' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'." I have updated my COM reference to Microsoft Office 14.0 Object Library, but the same message appears. [code]Obviously there is a bunch of stuff under this, but this shows where the errors are.I am unable to fix a bug in the program because I can not even compile it without error.

I am working on a class that generates a report in Excel (any version).I need to perform a bit of ad-hoc labelling on a chart, for which I have created a textbox (i.e. Excel drawing object).I've managed to get as far as creating the textbox and setting it's text using Shape.TextFrame.Characters.Text. Ideally, I'd like to set the font characteristics as well, but I can't see how to do this. I can't seem to find much info about this anywhere, so hopefully someone's dealt with this before and can give me a few pointers.

In my VbNET2008 window application I include a EXCEL Spreadsheet and it generate 2 error messages when I declared the WorkBook and Worksheet.
Here are the error message:
Error 3 Type 'objExcel.Workbook' is not defined.
Error 4 Type 'objExcel.Worksheet' is not defined.

The ExcelClass.vb code used to be in a module(Changed it to classes), and I found it online. Unfortunately, I can't find the link .The program is supposed to look through one file (I call it, the donor, cell, or excel throughout the program) and compare the values found in Column C to the values found in column B of another file, called "definitions". If it finds a match, it'll take the abbreviation in definitions and paste it over the value in column B of the donor sheet.The code maybe solid, I think it is, but I can't find out. It crashes with the above error as soon as it comes time to use the getCell function.[code]

I have a vb.net function which uses oledb to create a spreadsheet, then treat it like a database, creating tables and inserting values. The function takes in a filename and a dataset, and returns the filename if it worked. The function works beautifully on my dev machine, but not other PCs. Below is my function, is there anything wrong with the code? EDIT: There are no errors being thrown, the resulting file doesn't contain any data.

Here is an image of my table data and design I am trying to read some values from a database using the oledb dataset however when I run the sql command and get down to outputting the value I am greeted with the following error: "IndexOutOfRangeException: There is no row at position 0.". Yet when I run the very same sql command in access I get back the data I wanted.When I am running the above code, no errors are produced until I get down to the last writeline where I want to output my data.
