Uploading Pdf Or Doc File Into Sql Server Database?

i want to develop registration form that asks, username, password and curriculum vitae(cv) file. the third column will store files that are uploaded by clients. user can edit their CV by logging using their username and password. so my question goes here. is that possible to upload the file into database? is there any drawback to upload files into database? and is that possible to send the username and password to a table, and the file into a folder so that user can edit their CV using their username and password, is there a means to connect them?
i am using asp.net and vb.net 2008 ,sql server 2005 for my web application.i want to upload files(.PDF ,.DOC, .DOCX file extenstion in to my table) i did the followin:

I am not using with cmdinsertattachment. I am using Html - Input(File) from the HTML toolbox. the ID of the input file is ID="upldimg". So how do I insert this into my table which is - Column1 ID identity Column2 Img image Column 3 Description varchar(200).
The insert statement like - INSERT into table1 (Img, Description) values (???, txtdescription.text) Do I do upldimg.text in the insert statement?

i dont have these parameters. i only have 1 field in sql server table that says Img and has image datatype. how do i use this code to get my image in db using this insert statement?insert into table1 (img) values (???)

I am trying to achieve the following. I have a web page that I want users to upload a .csv file to, that places the file on a local server and then after that the file is then bulk inserted to a sql database. I can't get the file to save in the location mentioned in the script and I would like to do the bulk insert cleaner.
is there a way that I can send what my client has submitted via a TextBox to one of my php servers? I googled it, and couldn't really find the answer I was looking for. Or if I did, it was a little too complicated for me. A link to a simple tutorial will do, if you don't feel like wasting your time taki
I have a file uploading and viewing page in ASP.Net 1.1 using VB. Now the page will be visible in intranet as well internet. Here in my case the intranet and internet servers are different. How can i save the uploaded file in the intranet server and view from there subsequently when the activity is done using the internet server?
I have built working VB.net code that uploads multiple images to the server using Plupload. I am using an HTTPHandler (FileUpload.ashx) to do the uplading and want to add a SQL Statement that will insert each of the images File Names to my SQL Database. I have tried just adding the SQL to the Handler, but when I do I get 4 database entries for each iamge that is uploaded.

I developed a site it works well at localhost (IIS) but the problem is that when I upload it to the server it works for some time, for some entries & gives the error and after this error, it appears to all pages. The errors are 1. "Unspecified error" 2. Error in web.config (attaching the error image) though I fix it. I do not understand why it appears / displaying the error using the MS Access as database. I'm writing it again, i'm developing an app in which user click a picture through image and image will be stored in sdcard then I have choose the picture from image view and send that picture to the server. I have convert my image into the byte array and then encoded it in Base64 string format but when i try to send that image to the server it give me an error of soap fault. I have developed a VB.NET program using a strongly typed dataset. This dataset has its connection to a SQL Server 2008 R2. The software should now be additionally used offline. The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.
I am trying to add multiple files to FTP server by dragging and dropping and I am able to do that using try catch block and if we give the ftp settings correctly it takes 1 sec to upload them but when we give wrong details it hangs up and dosen't give me any error message though If I give an exceptional message.
Now I am getting error message as well as success message for every file I add.I do not want that to be happen.where should I give messages for success and failure so that it should take few seconds for uploading and if not should give me a message immediately.

I recently upgraded the MS SQL Server installed on my personal computer from 2005 Express to 2008 Express. Problem is when I try to add an SQL database file to a project using VS 2005 I get an error message saying that the version of my database server is not supported, I must have SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later installed. I didn't do it yet but I'm pretty sure that when I open the other projects that I included a database file to it, I'm going to get the same error. My question is it possible to have two SQL Servers installed on my machine? If so, is it a good idea to have two DB servers in the same machine?

Currently, the user has to use Sound Record to record the message, use an FTP client to upload it to a web server, and finally, use an e-mail client to send the URL. I'd like to combine those three features into one.
i have made a program that takes info from your registry and uploads it so I can fix it and you can download the new version of a key that makes things work faster.... when someone uploads a file, it works good, and i can look at the ftp's text file and see it, but every time someone ELSE uploads something, it overwrites the previous text file and makes another one, which deletes the first one. i would like so that when another person uploads something, it will just be on the second line then third, so on so forth.
Is there a way to get the select file dialog box open and putting the location of the file into a textbox without ever uploading the file?
ETA I'm using VB.NET in a web page. By using the asp:fileupload tag I can get the file location

But how do I prevent the file from being uploaded at all. We don't need it, just the file location. (The files are on a shared drive so if it's M:documents odayslunch.pdf for person A, it's the same for person B.)
