i am using asp.net and vb.net 2008 ,sql server 2005 for my web application.i want to upload files(.PDF ,.DOC, .DOCX file extenstion in to my table) i did the followin:
create table filetable(filename varchar(300),filesize int,filedata text,contentType varbinary(max))
does the data type of each column correct?

i want to develop registration form that asks, username, password and curriculum vitae(cv) file. the third column will store files that are uploaded by clients. user can edit their CV by logging using their username and password. so my question goes here. is that possible to upload the file into database? is there any drawback to upload files into database? and is that possible to send the username and password to a table, and the file into a folder so that user can edit their CV using their username and password, is there a means to connect them?

I have a WinForm 'frmUploadStatus' which has a datagridview filled with 1000 records & 20 columns.And also I hosted in hosting server ms sql server 2005 database which has tables one of its table 'Status' (it has 10 columns).Now I want to upload from WinForm 'frmUploadStatus' to ms sql db.
If I change only the connectionstring in my program for uploading the records, it takes more time for uploading.

I recently upgraded the MS SQL Server installed on my personal computer from 2005 Express to 2008 Express. Problem is when I try to add an SQL database file to a project using VS 2005 I get an error message saying that the version of my database server is not supported, I must have SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later installed. I didn't do it yet but I'm pretty sure that when I open the other projects that I included a database file to it, I'm going to get the same error.
My question is it possible to have two SQL Servers installed on my machine? If so, is it a good idea to have two DB servers in the same machine?

I am not using with cmdinsertattachment. I am using Html - Input(File) from the HTML toolbox. the ID of the input file is ID="upldimg". So how do I insert this into my table which is -
Column1 ID identity
Column2 Img image
Column 3 Description varchar(200).
The insert statement like -
INSERT into table1 (Img, Description) values (???, txtdescription.text)
Do I do upldimg.text in the insert statement?

I am using a database file Database1.mdf which have a tabel called student. This Database1.mdf is simply added by using the option Add New Item in Solution Explorer. The problem is that I am to able to update the database through form and code. The code is as:

The ds is updated at run time, but as form is closed and run again the actual database table student is not updated.I have no idea what is going on. The same code work right with Access database and SQL database but in this case it is not working. I've tried on google but not getting satisfactory answer. I've also seen a post on this site but that is about ConnectionString, not about the database update.

Ive created one database Sql Server Compact Edition 2005, with one table ("Cliente") I know that I can created my database good, but i have a problem saving information since three textbox, in my table(With columns "Nombre" "Apellido" "Cliente". In my form there is a button save ("Guardar"). When I do click in my button appear the next message : "The column cannot contain null values. [ Column name = Nombre,Table name = Cliente ] " and happen the same with apellido and Id_Cliente. And this happen becouse my code cant save the information....

before re-inventing the wheel, i want to ask you how i can do this best: I have a VB.Net application that uses a database connection to MS SQL Server 2005 (express version). There are users that input data with the application into the database lets say once to 2x an hour to once a minute. I want to do backups like this: Once a day or once a week (in the evening) a full backup, and whenever the program/user is idle for lets say 10 Minutes, i want to do an incremental backup (so that it does not take so long until he can work on after the backup).
There are no big security issues, just copying the backup data files to a network share / a different computer or server would be fine. i guess the average db size may be 300MB, but the daily increments about 1MB.

I had made a project in VB.NET 2005 with SQL SERVER 2005 used as database. Now i want to make a setup of this project but i am unable to integrate sqldatabase and .net framework in this setup project. Is there any way to do this. Because it is assumed that the client does not have .NET Framework installed nor he has SQL Server on his system and the worst condition would be he does not have even internet connection from where these two setups can be downloaded if we give the condition for downloading these programs from the net if the client does not have these programs installed on his machine.

I have built working VB.net code that uploads multiple images to the server using Plupload. I am using an HTTPHandler (FileUpload.ashx) to do the uplading and want to add a SQL Statement that will insert each of the images File Names to my SQL Database. I have tried just adding the SQL to the Handler, but when I do I get 4 database entries for each iamge that is uploaded.

I developed a site it works well at localhost (IIS) but the problem is that when I upload it to the server it works for some time, for some entries & gives the error and after this error, it appears to all pages. The errors are
1. "Unspecified error"
2. Error in web.config (attaching the error image) though I fix it.
I do not understand why it appears / displaying the error using the MS Access as database.

I'm writing it again, i'm developing an app in which user click a picture through image and image will be stored in sdcard then I have choose the picture from image view and send that picture to the server. I have convert my image into the byte array and then encoded it in Base64 string format but when i try to send that image to the server it give me an error of soap fault. I have developed a VB.NET program using a strongly typed dataset. This dataset has its connection to a SQL Server 2008 R2. The software should now be additionally used offline. The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.

I am trying to add multiple files to FTP server by dragging and dropping and I am able to do that using try catch block and if we give the ftp settings correctly it takes 1 sec to upload them but when we give wrong details it hangs up and dosen't give me any error message though If I give an exceptional message.
Now I am getting error message as well as success message for every file I add.I do not want that to be happen.where should I give messages for success and failure so that it should take few seconds for uploading and if not should give me a message immediately.

'm just a beginner who want to learn on manipulating SQL Server data using vb.net. I have already experienced manipulating data in ms access. So I just recycled the code that I used in here. But unfortunately I got this error:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.And another problem is that, I'm not really sure if what I have inputted in the SqlConnection matches what is in SQL Server. I'm trying to connect to a sql server 2005 database. I'm using the following connection string.

Using this connection gives me the following error :
