Append A Table With ADOX In .NET
Jan 15, 2009I am trying to append a table to database using ADOX in .NET (as you probably surmised from the topic title) I get the following error:
Create Database Failure: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040E3D): Type is invalid.
It says the Type is Invalid on the line where I try to append the objTable to the Catalog

Sep 14, 2009I am very new to VB.net express and I am getting confused as to what does what. I have to work with DBF files (clipper/ Dbase iii or iv) I have code to create a new DBF file with a reference to ADOX. The code example seems to work. I can open and display a dbf file (from a clipper application) using an oledb.connection This allows me to fill a dataset and bind to and display a grid view. I have yet to succeed in updating the source dbf file.
Does ADOX do anything for me beyond creating a new DBF file?The DBF file is unsorted and not otherwise indexed. For the data massaging and manipulation I may use a temporary sort but the data relations do not need that and the tables are not related.That being said, it appears that the data wizards or command builder will be of little use.

I need to remove the definition while I programitically load data into the database and then re-add it when I'm done. I've unsuccessfully tried the following code, but get an error: "Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A0CC1" I'm using the following code to try to remove the attribute:

Apr 27, 2011I am experiencing a strange issue with a VB6 -> VB.Net conversion. There is a function that uses ADOX to look through the tables in a given database, and reset the seed values of any columns in said tables with the auto increment property set to true.I tracked the issue down to a call of "col.Properties("Autoincrement").Value". If this line of code is commented out, then the file handle properly terminates when I close both the ADO and the ADOX connections at the end of the function. If I leave that line in, the handle stays open despite the closing calls and forcing garbage collection.Here's how I am closing the objects:

I am getting an error at the "Do While DMReader02.Read = True" line: "Invalid attempt to call Read when reader is closed." Why would the reader be closed at this point if I am using different DataReaders in the two loops?

Project Using VB And A Database In Access - Check If My Application Requires Access To Be Installed Or Not?
Feb 16, 2012I'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?

later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. May 29, 2009I have created an access database which i want to search with vb.net, I tried a few thing but it didnt work as desired.
Firstly the program is suppose to display items in the database base on the criteria selected by the user. what i've succefssfully done so far is I've added a datagrid 2 combobox, 1 (searchcbo) with the columns in the database and the other (searchcbo1) will autoload the items under the column selected in and a button (searchbtn) but i have no clue of the code to put in the button. i also tried the fill method but that didnt work as i wanted to. ultimately i want a combobox with the list of columns and a textbox to enter criteria and of course a search button.
The searchbtn should act as the "WHERE" sql command, e.g. SELECT EmployeeNumber, Firstname, LastName, Phone, Location....etc FROM CallLog WHERE searchcbo.text = searchcbo1.text And display the results in the datagrid.
