Sep 29, 2011I have procedure (Import) that calls a for a new instance of frmImportData. I also have a class name clsBatch that has a data table property called prpParametersTable.For some reason, I get an error (indicated below with ERROR>>>) when trying to assign prpParameterTable to cv_dtImport2. The error states "Object reference not set to an instance of an object.". Why does this error not happen when I assign dtBP to cv_dtImport1? Both cv_dtImport1 and cv_dtImport2 are equal to Nothing and in my Import procedure dtBP = prpParametersTable.

Oct 26, 2011I want to track changes in an application. So I've made a copy of the main table in that application, and am accessing both tables in the application using two separate datasets.
My plan was to use the HasChanges method of the main DataSet to get changed rows and then insert those into the copy table. When I run the code I get an error:
A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidCastException' occurred in MyApp.exe
Unable to cast object of type 'MainDataTable' to type 'MainAuditDataTable'.

Dec 15, 2010I have an interface 'ICRUDable' and a class called ClientAddress which implements the ICRUDable interface.
My understanding of OOP would lead me to believe that if I declare a System.Data.Linq.Table(Of ICRUDable) then I should be able to put ClientAddress's in there.

Jun 2, 2011I have a set of code that builds a table as the user enters information. This information may be changed more than once before it is considered complete. After the user is done, I want them to click a button, and have that information entered into the SQL database where it belongs. Right now, the code I am using gives the error: "System.ArgumentException: This row already belongs to another table"
Is there a way to add a table to a table like this, or do I need to add each row to the SQL table as the user moves along.

I have been using the Excel COM, so I am hoping that there is a way to do it this way. I have seen code that will put data in a pivot cache via an SQL connection string, but I have yet to find anyway of using a datatable as is.

Feb 9, 2011I used the DataSet Designer to create FTWDataSet which holds the AlarmText table from a SQLExpress database.This far my form contains ONLY Datagridview1.The code below successfully shows the contents of the AlarmText table plus the one added checkbox column (which I will populate with display-only data, and is not an issue here).
