Use TableAdapter To Insert Rows Into A Dataset Does Not Do Anything

I have a question similar to this one, but reading the (accepted) answer didn't give me much insight, so I'm hoping to state it more clearly and get a clearer response back.
I'm attempting to insert a data row into a table. I'm using TableAdapter's custom "insert nonQuery" that I wrote (it works, I tested) to accept some parameters. I'm fairly new to this business of communication with a database via .NET and what I'm doing is probably wrong by design. My questions are why is it wrong and what's the right way to do it? I'm using the TableAdapter to Insert rows into a database, when I use execute from the Query Builder, the line gets entered into the database, when I enter it via Form button, it doesn't get entered to the database using the same commands.

i have a sql database, and have created a dataset for a sample table in it.The dataset is HotelDataSet2 and data table adapter to insert to it is Various_itemsTableAdapter.
MsgBox(HotelDataSet2.various_items.Rows.Count)
Various_itemsTableAdapter.Insert(Item_nameTextBox.Text, itemcode, PackingTextBox.Text, UomTextBox.Text, PriceTextBox.Text, RemarksTextBox.Text, TaxTextBox.Text, StatusCheckBox.Checked, Rate_inclusiveCheckBox.Checked)

This always reflects the same count, before and after inserting..But if i execute this

it shows the new count to be +1 of the old one. So i concluded that everytime i change some data to the table via table adapter, i have to always refill the dataset?? How is that useful then??

I have a TableAdapter created where one column.identity is set to true with an autoincrement.My problem arise when trying to insert a row at run-time. The following is my code and the error message I am trying to over come.[code]"The column cannot be modified. [ Column name = RecordNumber ]" I am not trying to edit that column name. I set it to true identity so I don't have to keep track of record numbers that may be deleted later on. I have a program that is using a dataset class, table adapter, binding source and binding navigator. The program can read, update, and delete rows from the table. However, it doesn't recognize new records and save them to the database when the table adapter's update method is called. (table was pre-populated by another process) The database table is using an identity column for the primary key. On a whim I added code to force an insert of data using the table adapter's Insert method with some hard coded values and this worked.This code was invoked after hitting new record on the binding navigator bar. Looking at the database, I notice the record I forced in skipped an identity value, which indicates to me hitting new record took the previous number. So the question I have is what would keep the tableadapter from inserting the new record when its update method is called?

things look good till I reach the Bind Commands to Existing Stored procedures page of the wizard and I select my target spproc (rpt_IPR_...) then I hit the finish button and see the message: invalid object name '#TmpResults' now the dataset seems to setup correctly but was wondering why we are getting this message and should I be concerned. The same proc in Access had no issues. [Code]

I need your support here. I have one dataset with numerous table adapters in one project. All fine. Now, in another project I am referencing the same dataset. I have added it as a link.So far so good. However, when I change a tableadapter in my main project store and close, and then open my other project the changes to the tableadapter are not there. For example, I have been adding an additional field to an adapter. But when running the second project that field is not part of the tableadapter.
After investigating a bit, I can say that, for whatever reason, when I link the datasets XSD file it created a copy of the respective Designer File. There is now a link to FundResultContainer.designer.vb, as a child of FundResultContainer.vb. But there is also a FundResultContainer1.Designer.vb as a child of FundResultContainer.xsd.
Like this:
FundResultContainer.xsd - FundResultContainer.vb -- FundResultContainer.designer.vb - FundResultContainer.xsc - FundResultContainer.xss - FundResultContainer1.Designer.vb
This could be causing my problem. However, to clean it up, I have removed the whole tree (dataset) and linked only the XSD file again. IT does again create a second designer file, exactly as above.

And I configured the TableAdapter exactly as shown by Beth, yet I am getting an error here:

I setup a strongly typed dataset using the DatasetDesigner in VB2010. I am using the TableAdapter.Insert method to add data to an Access table. Before the data is inserted I need to validate the data using the DataTable RowChanging event.
How can I get the DataTable RowChanging event to fire when using the TableAdapter.Insert method?

I have a project which contains a large number of lookup tables, and I have all of these lookup tables represented in a single typed DataSet, which contains TableAdapters for each lookup. I've designed an editor for these lookup tables, which should allow editing of one of these at a time. My front-end is written in VB and WinForms, the back-end is a SOAP web service; I can successfully pass the changes to the DataSet back to the web service, but can't find a way to use a TableAdapter to update the single table that has been changed.
What I'm trying to do is instantiate the appropriate TableAdapter for the updated DataTable by sending the name of the table back to the web service along with the DataSet, then referring to the TableAdapter with a dynamic name. The normal way to instantiate a TableAdapter is this:
Dim ta As New dsLookupsTableAdapters.tlkpMyTableTableAdapter
What I'd like to do is this, but of course it doesn't work:
strTableName = "tlkpMyTable"
Dim ta As New dsLookupsTableAdapters(strTableName & "TableAdapter")
Is there any way to achieve this, or am I taking the wrong approach altogether? My other alternative is to write separate code for each table, which I'd prefer to avoid!

I have a parent/child relation I am trying to create fow 2 datasets.The parent ds consusts of a range of PO Header information
After I fill this dataset I loop through it getting the PO number. I then take that value and execute another sql statement on the DETAIL file and fill a dataset(dtlDS) for EACH row in the parent. How do I add to this dtlDS for each row? I am getting no CHILD data in the merge. Should I be filling to a datatable and do an add.row and THEN dump into the dtlDS?

I have a model that returns a dataset to a view and builds a list. The crazy thing is that I have tested this code with IE, Safari on Mac and Windows, Chrome and Opera and all return data. However, on the iPad or iPhone, zero rows are returned from the dataset object. It seems that the model is in fact passing the dataset to the view. I am using jquerymobile to render the view for the iOS devices and have taken that out of the mix to test and it still doesn't work.

I pass it a valid dataset that has the department name and the Department id as a number..20, 40, 30..... I want to get the department number.. My Application uses For...Next loops to read a spreadsheet into a DataSet and then display information from it based on the results of search conditions (search term and a date range).I'm having a problem with the data where, if I run a search that should return the first 400 rows in the spreadsheet, I'm only getting around 200 results. I know the search should return the 400 rows because I checked it in the spreadsheet before running the search.I think my problem might be caused by my date comparisons.
