Base class has one field to hold numeric balance value. With 2 methods that accept arguments for adding and subtracting the new input calculating new balance. Sub class has four fields dates, transaction, memo and amount.I have a deposit form, and withdraw form. Each time one transaction is entered it creates an object with sub class fields, then adds to the account collection. My problem is not understanding how to call the deposit/withdraw method and pass the current transaction amount back to the base class to alculate the new balance. Does anyone have any links to information/tutorials on how to perform something like this? As you can see with my code I have tried various different approaches without any success.
In class i saved my program in with load of other test programs for the same assignment and got everything mixed up i finally figured out what was what and loaded the program in Visual Basic. Now my program doesn't recognize one of my forms when i try to access the design view of it. I hit run for the hell of it and the program runs with errors of course but the form1 "the missing one" shows up with all the buttons etc and i can use it.
i have to write a program for my VB class that consists of a resistance checker program. I've searched like a madman to help me through this and I have found nothing >. The program consists of 2 combo boxes, the first one is the nominal resistance drop down list of the numbers :100, 150, 220, 330, 470, 680, 820 and 1000. The second list is of the tolerance numbers; +/- 0.4%, +/-0.6% and +/-0.8%. Now what i want to do is select a number from the first combo box and select the tolerance level of the second combo box and i input the resistor of said value into the text box. when i click the check resistor button it should display a message saying if the resistor is in or out of tolerance. For now I have the form all laid out and the values inputted into both combo boxes and i can go to run the program i am able to select said values. Now my problem is trying to get the right code so that i can check the resistors value.
I have to write a program that uses a class...and I've got no idea what it is or how to do that.My program is a simple interface that adds up the users selections and quantifies them into a membership fee.

I want to change my class library's settings from an another program. For this, I've made a Public property in my class library. It worked right. But this is not my question. I wonder this is a right method? Can I access a class library's settings (My Namespace) from other project directly?
I wrote a server for a tcp/ip chat program using the system.net.sockets class. When I run the program and the client tries to connect to it, there's an error and it won't work. I am positive that the issue isn't with the client, as I have made a connection with the client before.
Imports System.Net Imports System.Net.Sockets Imports System.IO Public Class Form1 Dim server As New TcpListener(IPAddress.Any, 60) Dim client As New TcpClient [Code] .....
I wanna use the C# code file in VB.Net project Which is windows based application. But that C# class is not using in VB.NET application. How Can I perform this task.
I'm trying to implement for the first time a library. With the event sub "client_TickPrice" I want to update a textbox. However nothing happens to my form when the "UpdateLast" sub is called from there.? The code was originally inside a Module (not a class like now), and set up as a console application. Probably there is a problem with the way I wrap my code, i.e. use of classes etc. This program is supposed to receive realtime stock/futures price data. Is it still a good way to start this code with the form, or should I make some type of console application?
Public Class Form1 Dim prog As New Program Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load prog.Main() [Code] .....
If Class X is within the scope of Class Y, is X a subclass of Y?If Class A is a sub Class of B, then is Class B considered a super class of A?if Class C inherits Class D is Class D a superclass or parent of Class C?if Class E extends Class F then we can consider Class E a child of F?if Class G inherits Class H and is within the scope of Class I then who is the parent of Class G? Classes that inherits Class J and classes that are within Class J are all sub classes of Class J?
I have to submit this assignment that I have mostly done. But the problem is that the program calculates the pay roll even if you dont select a martial status radio button. I need to make one of the radio buttons default upon the program being opening opened. Also Im getting a negative number for the fwt label result after calculating. Why could that be? Here is my code:
Is that possible to create a class in vb.net that is not in the default namespace of the project?
for example, say you have a project call sample1, then automatially IDE will have everything default to the Sample1 as your namespace root rather than under global, which is find for most case.but I want to create some classes that is directly under global namespace
Say a machine has two seperate IP's. I am running a little test program that connects to an outside piece of hardware that has it's own IP. I receive data from that hardware. I want the same little program assigned to the two seperate IPs on my local machine to get the same data from the hardware. How can this be done?I am receiving data just fine but I am not seeing how to tie the program to a specific IP on the local machine. As soon as I run another instance of my program, not data is received on the second instance. For example: I have a program running on a machine. I want two instances of that program, each on it's own ip
Instance 1: 192.168.1.240
Instance 2: 192.168.1.241
I want both instances to listen for data coming from 192.168.1.50
This is a generic example of what needs to happen. I need to know how to define the local IP's the UDPClient is running on.
I am trying to write a simple application that monitors the COM port and writes the incoming binary data to a file. So, I gathered a File class is provided, but looking at its methods list in the Help page, I see no method for writing individual bytes (and the Write methods seem to close the file after writing).
How can I write a byte array into a file, keep it open and repeat this as necessary?
I have put this code in the global form Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form. And then in the form that will inherit this from the global Inherits MenuStrip. "MenuStrip" is what the global form is called. But keep getting this error: Error1Base class 'MenuStrip' specified for class 'Lesson2' cannot be different from the base class 'System.Windows.Forms.Form' of one of its other partial types.
I am writing a program for class that acts like an accounting ledger or checkbook organizer. There are many things that I can't figure out how to make happen.
First- I need a running total of credits and debits at the bottom of the form. I can't figure out how to get that to display. I tried it, but it just locks up the program.
Second- I put in an error handler for non-numeric input and that works but when I want to clear all fields with the clear button it errors each field for not having an entry. I tried 6 ways to Sunday to accept (""), but it messes up other things.
Third- I want 5 transactions to be visible with the ability to have 7. I have hidden the last two and want them to display when the new transaction button is clicked, but can't find anything in my book that would allow that to happen.
Public Class
'Declarations Dim Tran1, Tran2, Tran3, Tran4, Tran5, Tran6, Tran7, TotalCred, TotalDeb As Double Dim NewBal1, NewBal2, NewBal3, NewBal4, NewBal5, NewBal6, NewBal7, BegngBal As Integer
It is in the file ClientProfile I have placed in both App_Code and also App_Code/Models
In my code behind I have the following
[CODE]...
The last word, "ClientProfile" has the scary squiggly red line below it. It is not recognizing my class.Even the Intellisense is not picking up te class. Do I have to register the class file in any way?
I have a program that has a large set of classes in it. A certain incident (I won't call it an event, yet, as that has a specific meaning that will cause trouble later) needs to a relatively small subset of these classes a question. The subset of classes will need to respond to the question, but for it to be able to do so, the classes may first need to ask a similar question of the same subset, which may prompt yet a further question, though this recursion will never go more than three or four levels down. Since only a small subset of these classes will participate in the questions, while the majority will never participate, and since all of these classes are virtually identical, and I can know at design time whether any given class is part of the subset or not, an event is appropriate. The main class can raise an event, and those classes in the subset can handle the event, while those classes that are not in the subset won't handle the event. Furthermore, any of these classes can raise the event again with different parameters, as needed. Thus far, an event appears to be ideal.
The problem is this: As a result of the event, each class will need to add one or more strings to one of two lists. Event handlers can't return anything, so I can't be using the return values from functions to populate these lists.
Two options appear possible:
1) Include the two lists in the event arguments.
2) Have the two lists be accessible to all classes, and don't pass anything around.
The second part of the problem is that the event is effectively a question being asked of each class, and no action can be taken until each class has responded. If I simply raise an event and let each class respond, can I be certain that all classes that should respond have? An alternative solution would be to have each class expose a method, and call these methods for each class in turn. By doing this, I could get return values, but I would have to call the methods for ALL the classes, not just the subset that actually cares (the classes are all different types, but they all implement a common interface, and are added to a List (of ) that interface, so I can iterate through them all without much difficulty). So, the event seems more efficient, but adding a function to the common interface for the classes is the approach most certain of being a solution.
I have to create a program where you enter the description, price, and quantity of an item, then click on the Add button. It will then put the description, price, quantity, and total for that line (including tax) in a listbox. The tax is determined by what you put in a text box labeled tax:. When you press Submit Order, it should show a grand total in a text box called Grand Total. It should have a class that is called Items that has a function called GetTotalAmount() that figures out the total including tax. I have started it, but am having a tough time with how to get the subtotals into the text box, then also show the amount including the tax PLUS then do the grand total.
Dim a as Type=GetType(className) would gimme the type. But I have only the name of the class as string. I want something like GetType("class1") which would return the type.
