I am running an update sql statement that is returned a bad request error. This is only happening when I'm using reserved words for the field value. I know this happens for table and column names and how to account for that but I've never had this with the actual value.

What's the best practice for naming properties/methods when your preferred name is a reserved word?My first instinct is to call the properties CarMake, CarModel (so a convention of ClassNamePropertyName).My mistake, make and model aren't actually reserved words. View 3 RepliesI'm trying to execute an sql statement in vb.net to an Access database, I am escaping the reserverd word using square brackets []. This has worked in all my SELECT statements within the program.
The reserved word is level
But the SQL statement below fails saying
Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement.
If I directly copy the statement and execute this in Access it works fine
datalayer.getDataTable(String.Format("INSERT INTO users (username, password, [level]) VALUES ({0}, {1}, {2})", username, password, level))
The above statement works if I remove [level] and replace this with another column name.

My problem is that I want label1 to count one when the information in Textbox5 is matching a line of info in Listbox1 so far I can do this but when the info changes by me pressing Ctrl+C it works it counts 1 but my problem is my clipboard info is updating automatically I can see the change in the textbox but it wont count.

Here's a sub routine that fills a data set with a table which I queried using an Inner Join statement. This output table, has all the required fields and the query works fine. However I want it like so:
If a student doesn't have a StudentPrediction.PredictedGrade Field to JOIN and it IS Empty.. Then I still would like it to display the students information just leaving the StudentPrediction.Predicted field empty.
You see I am using a ListView to display the data from when I fill the ListView, but it will only display for people who have a Predicted Grade naturally. So what steps would I need to take to ensure it displays all the information in the Student's table AND for the students who do have predictions that would also be displayed. If the student has no data on PredictedGrades then that column would be blank but the rest of the information still displayed.

View 3 RepliesI am creating XML files by combining 3 text files; Header contains the start of the XML file, Body contains a repeating section of XML with placeholders that will be replaced for each entry in the database and Footer contains the end of the XML file.Currently I am using Stream writer to create the XML file, the problem comes when the data I am adding in the body section contains reservered characters e.g. > < & etc as the XML will break.Is there a better way? The XMLWriter examples I have seen seem to start from the premise of a complete XML document, which I don't have.

I am not the original author of this software project and the code is poorly documented. I am mainly a Java/C++ developer.The program displays the tree structure and allows files and folder to be selected. The program is getting errors with FileSystemTreeView when trying to return nodes on a system with a reserved partition.Here is what is happening: tree.SelectedNode = tree.Nodes(0) 'returns error with system reserved partition.calling, GetDriveList() will properly return all the drive letters - and not throw an error. I was convinced that If <expression> Then <statement [:statement]> Else [statements] in concrete form of If a = b Then SayHello() Else SayBye() End has sense. I read article on msdn on If-then-else, but I forgot why I was reading, so I concluded, that snippet above means this
