I am developing a GUI based application in MS Visual Studio 2005, I just want to know if it is possible to use both VB.NET and C# in the same project. Or can I include a module written in C# in my VB.NET project?
I have a class written in C# which I want to use in my VB.NET based project, so if I can include and call functions from that project than I won't have to write the class again in VB.NET.
I have a procedure at the end of my console application that ask the user to either hit enter to end the program, or type s to perform another search. The issue I'm having is no matter what the user types in the program end. What I would like to happen is if the user types s, then the program starts over and lets the user perform another search. The program is procedural and I need to find a way to start back off at the top of the program which ask the user to type a name to search.

The manager tells me that some of the VB.net programs are console applications. Yet in looking through the source code I am not able to distinguish wether the code is for a console application or for some other VB.net program like a VB.net windows application. Can someone tell me if there is a way to determine if a VB.net program is a console application.

The user may have data in other units, which will then need conversion.Example: Formula needs Airflow in Cubic Meters/ Minute, where as user has data in Liters/Second.I do not want to write code to do Unit Conversions from within my Program. The situation is this: I have a VB .net application which launch another VB .net application (both made with the .net framework 2.0) using process.start(), the second application need to know which software or process started it, if it was started by another software and not directly by the user, and I can't access to the source code of the first application so there's no way I can send a specific command line to the second application.

I'm coming from unix / server / c++ /java background with no GUI experience .i need to build windows GUI application , i need to build it fast i was told that the .net family is the exact thing for such job . but there is VB.net and c# what should i choose what is faster and better for such job ? what will be easier for none teachi user to install and for me to deploy the end product
View 10 RepliesI am using Subonic in a VB.net application for the first time (I have used it succesfully in a WebSite project plenty of times). I followed the 2nd part of the 'Getting Started' video to actually generate the DAL source files as opposed to the build provider method and everything APPEARS to have gone like expected. However, nothing I do will get my generated namespace to appear. I feel that it has to with the fact that I am running my Web Application in VB.Net and Subsonic generates in C#.
Here is the process I followed:
1) I created a blank Web Application Project in Visual Studio
2) I configured the web.config to have the necessary parts, connection strings, etc.
3) I ran subcommander and it generated all the classes I needed into a folder called DAL.
4) I built the Web Application Project
5) I opened up a code behind, typed 'Imports' and I do not see the namespace that was generated.
I have even opened the actual Subsonic Source files and seen that there is a namespace statement for the generated namespace I configured. I tried briefly to move the subsonic files to a separate class library project, compile the .dll and use that in my project, but it still did not work.
Basically functionality i need is:
easy integration with ASP.NET application.user ability to crop image with handle prior to save image optimization from any image type to jpg (compression levels) during the save saving images with proper h/w ratios during the save user ability to rotate the image prior to save ability to translate application to foreign language as it won't be used on international site
I find a lot on the internet about how connecting from a vb.net application to a mapi application on my system.
But i would like to build an application which is the other side of the MAPI so when an application is calling a mapi service, my application handles the message.

It doesn't use MDI Parent Form, but I use another simple Window Form (I named it frmMain) that I suppose it is my MDI Parent Form. When frmMain load, windowState = Maximized. And when I open a Form (example: I named it frmCustomer) that I suppose it is my child Form, and I set its properties (frmCustomer.TopMost=True) when it load, so it always on the top. But When I change to open another application such as Ms. Word or Mozilla Firefox... the frmCustomer is still on the top. how can I know my frmMain lost focus?
