I am building an desktop app. In which I have to use a web browser. (with url: facebook.com) but I have a problem. This website runs in regular browser smoothly but in application it halts the computer and on and off I think it is due to heavy use of memory.

Assume that there is a web site which includes 3 different pages. I want to show a text one of the pages randomly, with is formatted with css.
For instance the pages are below:
hello-world.aspx
hi-sun.aspx
good-night-moon.aspx
* When John enters to the site, the text will appear on hi-sun.aspx,
* When Elmander enters to the site, the text will appear on hello-world.aspx
And when one enters the page which includes a special text, even if come again, it shouldn't appear.
Psedue Code:

In the if block how can I supply the text in a random page. (it shouldn't appear in every page, should appear only one page).
am working with Web Browser control and with emails ".eml" ,simply am just navigating the WeBBrowser to the email object in my computer and is displaying my email body
but if the email has attachment picture(NOT AN EMBEDDED PICTURE) then the Browser automatically display that image to the center of the browser for example the last line of the html code is <CENTER><IMG SRC="CID:{A4BE96B0-6195-4D93- 45E-97D4B1CA3539}/nature2.jpg"></CENTER> but actually the email dose not has this picture as embedded but is only an attachment ,and the browser is displaying it.
is there any way which i can easily disable that functionality or i should modified the code and replace that string with nothing. ?

View 4 RepliesI'm trying to load a specific game (Kingdoms at war, www.kingdomsatwar.com) into a web browser on my visual basic 2010 project (i dont mind if its a webbrowser, AxWebbrowser or Axshockwaveflash, it just needs to be in my form).

I have a few issues when trying this, I create a form with a standard web browser and change the url to www.kingdomsatwar.com , when it runs it will go to the website however when clicking the login button it will go to a black screen with a bit of writing cut off in the top left corner (which i found out was "Page Loaded"), so thats the first issue.
However this can be temporarily fixed by right clicking and going to "forward" or "play". After this you will go to a login screen where you can enter your details, however after this it will load the game with a "cannot connect security" (which may be a game issue, however i need to know how to make the vbwebbrowser work like internet explorer, which will load it).
This game runs in flash, so i need to know if there is any special way to make the vbwebbrowser work properly like the internet explorer version works with the game.
I tried running the game's url itself (using mochigames), which is http:games.mochiad.../play.swf?q=243 , (i have tried this in the vbwebrowser, axwebbrowser and axshockaveflash) and they all won't load the game (they will load the game when not logged in but wont load an account)
I know this is a very specific question and can probably not be solved but if anyone has some spare time, could they create an account and give it a shot. All i need is a form which will load a www.kingdomsatwar.com account on it.
Well i hate Web browser, sometimes I use this code to check if the document completed and it stops there for ever.

I've got a VB2008 Form app and I'm trying to handle all my UI exceptions in a single method that handles the Application.ThreadException event. When I build a version and run it, this handler appears to be working fine. However, in debug mode, when an exception occurs the debuggernow halts on the exception and won't progress even if I hit F5. I want it to progress onwards and let the handler do its work. That's what it used to do, though I realize the difference is now there isn't a Catch block anymore. Any way to make the debugger keep going? It's making me nervous thinking perhaps things aren't set up right.

View 2 RepliesSo, I have this code that grabs a bunch of data from the database, and performs a bunch of calculations on that data. However, this is not what is causing the halt. The halt is coming in when I take all that "final" data that has been prepared, and go to write that into a text file.
Each line in the text file is being created from data that has had calculations performed on it. Each line "corresponds" to a record from the database. A user will have to perform this file export usually on about 30-40 thousand records at a time. Now, even though I am using a StringBuilder, this still halts because of the pure mass amount of records.
What I do currently in the code is create one StringBuilder, append all the data (after calcs) to it, convert it to a String, add it to a List(Of String) to be returned from the Function, and then clear the StringBuilder, and do the same for the next row, and I do this until each row has been created and appended, converted, and then inserted into the List.
Then, another class receives this List(Of String) and takes each String and eventually appends it to a file.
Does anyone have an idea of how to improve this code and make it so it doesn't halt the server every time? The reason it wasn't found out until now is because when I tested it locally I was testing it on only 1-50 records at a time.

Basically I want to grab the ID of the sign in button (the name/id is SI) and click it. I've tried RaiseEvent(Click) and Click() but neither work...I'm not sure about the syntax and how it works in general....I don't even know if I'm doing it right.
So I've made a program in VB 2010, and it has three comboboxes and a button to view. Now lets say my first combobox is "Type of website". The options are "search engines", "social networking" and "news". The second combobox values would depend on what the first combobox value is selected, like if it was "news" the options would be "technology", "uk", "us", and "world".
The third combobox would then use the values in the first and second comboboxes to give even more values, for example if it was "news" and "technology" the values would be "engadget" etc. Then the view button would open the selected website in an internet browser. How would I code this?
The VB.Net desktop app uses the IE browser control to navigate the web. When a normal page loads the document_complete event fires and I can read the resulting page and go from there. The issue I am having is that the page I am driving is written with AJAX, so the document complete event never fires. Furthermore, when you view the source of the page after it loaded a new portion via AJAX, it hasn't change.

View 3 RepliesI have created an application using VB 2008 Express on an XP machine. I created a deployment package and installed it on other XP machines with no problems. I tried it on a Vista machine and all seemed well until performing a serial port function. It simply halts/locks up. I have to close it in task mangler. I thought I would circumvent the problem by building and publishing it on the Vista machine. While running the program from VB express the program functions perfectly on that Vista machine, but when I publish and install it on same it still crashes at the serial portion of the program.

View 19 RepliesI have a ASP.NET 2.0 website created in C# that acts as a completely independent site and I am looking to integrate this into an existing ASP.NET 2.0 website created in VB.NET. Unfortunately I just don't know much about the server management side of ASP.NET yet so too much I'm unaware of when it comes to IIS configuration etc. Does anyone have any advice as to how I can go about integrating this? Basically I want to host it in a subdirectory from root so when you hit example.com/myindependantsite/ it will pull up my C# site.
One possible solution I came across mentioned just dropping the project folder into the root directory and setting up that directory as an application virtual directory in IIS? A few other random questions were small things like would my application relative links (~/for-example.aspx) stay relative to my root subdirectory if it's made into an application virtual directory? Just trying to get this running on their site but like I said it's completely independent so want to preserve my websites environment.

I coded a web browser over the course of a year called Nova - very advanced with tabbed browsing, bookmarks, homepage, history, etc etc etc etc. I could go on all day about how advanced it is. But.. there is one flaw. You cannot make it the default browser; I don't know the code!I already know the CommandLineArgs stuff so it actually opens the HTML file rather than just opening the program; in fact, I already can make files open with Nova completely. It's just the other stuff - you know, when a website is to be opened from a help file or something, it opens with Nova, Windows recognises it as the default browser, stuff like that.

The first being that I have a textbox for my address bar and I want it to do a few things, I want it to expand when i set my browser to fullscreen , be able to press enter when typing in it and it will take me to that webpage and for it to show recent history... (i know it seems like a ton of expectations mainly i would like the first 2 the third is not as important) So i dont know how to do any of that...
I also would like to know how to go about making new tabs on demand and not have a bunch of tabs just sitting there...
