VS 2008 Managing/theming Other Apps (developing A Shell)?

Jan 12, 2010

I'm developing a shell (think LiteStep or SharpE) for Windows using Visual Basic .NET, and I have reached the point where I will need to get into theming other windows that doesn't run inside the shell itself.Modifications I will need to do is to change their title bars - probably using some kind of API call - to match the design I've integrated into the shell itself, if that is even possible. Having Aero on windows running in a shell that doesn't even look like Aero at all isn't very pretty.) Is there a chance I might be able to do this, or will I have to use a 3rd party application and/or develop my own little programming language for shell-specific applications (which would be a pain)?

Write Mac OS X Apps With Visual Studio?

Nov 11, 2009

I just came upon this article here which can turn your day to day visual basic app to run on mac os x. Here is the link: http://mac.sillydog.org/dev/visual_studio.php The thing I don't get is that the author doesn't tell us specifically what to download, and where to get all the files. He's a bit vague... Can anyone make this clearer to me?

BTW: I am using VB.NET although the author uses C#. I think it will still work though.

Developing A Program That Populates A Rich Text Box And From A Click Event On A Listbox?

Oct 6, 2009

I am developing a program that populates a rich text box and from a click event on a listbox. The data that is being loaded into the rich text box is located in a richtextformat file located on the hard drive. I noticed that when I entered a URL into one of the richtextformat files that it appeared that I was able to click on the text as if it were a link. So I wondered if it was possiable to click on that URL and open a web browser from the loaded richtextformat file? I have read several articles in regards to opening hyperlinks in rich text boxes which can open a web browser with a given URL.

Communications :: Using WebControl To Enter Text In Embedded Java Apps

Aug 9, 2008

The project I'm attempting to accomplish has to do with real estate. What I would like to do is go to a URL, automatically enter login information, once logged on, be able to grab certain pieces of text from the page, and then paste those pieces of text into another online application that also requires a login.

That probably sounded a little complicated but basically all I'm doing is putting text into textboxes and then pressing buttons. It would make the job much easier if it were automated.

I searched the forums and found that the webControl module seemed to be the place to start so i enabled it in my Toolbox. I then tried downloading "IE developer toolbar" to find the name of the first textbox on the webpage. Unfortunately, both the username and password fields are part of a java app. Here is the site to see what i mean [URL].

Write Listbox Text To Text File And Keep Columns Aligned?

I've got a program which displays data in a listbox in five columns. All are separated using one or more ControlChars.Tab. I want to write these columns to a text file, however, when I do, my columns lose their alignment. I can change alignment so that it displays nicely in text file, but then it is off in list box. Is there a way to get what I see in my listbox to display the same way in a text file - maybe a different way of separating my columns (not using ControlChars.Tab)?

Handle Rich Text Box Images?

Feb 17, 2012

I'm developing an add on to onther application. The add on presents the user with a form containing Rich Text Boxes. The user can type and format text and insert images. I now have to translate the Rich Text to graphics to display in the parent application using the OnPaint event.

I've found routines to convert text using SendMessageA etc. but these do not paint the images, only text.

I embed some replaceable parameters in the rich text, like page number, etc. so I can replace it with the page number when painting in the parent app. So I retain the rich text to know where the replaceable parameter is in the text.

Load Images Using A Text File?

Oct 23, 2009

I have a very urgent project due for Monday and I am trying to implement a very simple Windows Application for viewing files.

One of the requirements is to store the history of images accessed and provide a navigation tool for those images logged into the history.

I have been successful in logging/saving the full system absolute path to a text file. Now it is to be able to navigate through the lines.

I figured I could do this by first counting up the amount of lines in the text file after a new image has been loaded to the display and added to the text file[history] and

Then using the count on the history file of total files to either decrease or increase the number as appropriate to load into the image file the previously written absolute file paths as the new images.

I am writing in Visual Basic using VB 2008 express edition and I can't seem to figure out how to count the lines in the text file and sub sequentially manipulate the line being read to display the image.
