V B 2008 Express Book - Can't Connect To The "Service-Based Data Base" Or To The "Linq To Sql Classes"
Jan 6, 2010
I can't connect to the "Service-Based Data Base" or to the "Linq To Sql classes". I tried all that I've read in the Forums for days : ( I removed the VB 2008 and SQL 2205-2208, then upload VB 2008 from my CD only. I'm starting a Web Technology class in 2 weeks, and the complition of the book is my entry requirement.
I need to connect Access 2007 Data base using VB.net application. (This is an AddIn working underAutodesk Inventor 2012 64 Bit). When I use a ODBC DSN (under C:WindowsSysWow64) I need to compile the application with targetas x86. But Inventor 2012 64 bit needs target as x64 or Any CPU. So ODBC - DSN not working. When I tried OLEDB as "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=database.mdb"It returns with an error Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 not registered.
Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0; Data Source=c:database.accdb;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=password;" This also gives the same error.
I'm just in the process of upgrading to the .net system and beginning my first database project. When i try usng the Database connection Wizard i get the following error "See attachment"The data base is a .mdb file. Seem to work fine in VB6
i've finally got round to learning about classes and inheritance, but i'm not sure how to proceed. i have a base class Employee, which is inherited by 2 derived classes. how do i use the same Employee class in both derived classes? obviously if i write a sub new for both of them + declare a new Employee class, they won't be using the same class. heres my Employee class:
how to load data (Book) to text box when user just enter the book code?how to load data (student) to text box when user just enter the student id?how to write the code when user click the save button , the book quantity(Book) will reduce 1 and the all the data in textbox will save in database(Issue)the interface is like
[URL]
the database is show at
[URL]
the code is
Public Class frmIssue Dim dt As New DataTable() Dim rowIndex As Integer = 0 Dim rowIndex1 As Integer = 0
i have a Windows service that is hosting a WCF service through net.tcp and this is working great. I have also created a WCF service application. I am trying to add the net.tcp service reference to the service application. Then I add it to the GAC that goes ok but if I try to RegAsm the WCF service application to allow it to be called from Server.CreateObject I get the error:
Warning: Type library exporter encountered a type that derives from a generic class and is not marked as [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)]. Class interfaces cannot be exposed for such types. Consider marking the type with [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)] and exposing an explicit interface as the default interface to COM using the ComDefaultInterface attribute.
It does not work. I have tried to call it through a class library but this does not work either as the end point is not set correctly.
I have two classes, one nested in the other. [code]Neither "Name" or "ID" are unique between operations and records.I wish to construct a dictionary using LINQ = Dictionary(Of String, Of List(Of Integer), whereby the keys are uniqe examples of Names in my collection and the values are the collective set of distinct IDs that are associated with those names.
I am curious as to the proper technique to use SQL Server's AppRole with a LINQ to SQL Class. I understand I have to establish the intial connection with no connection pooling. However, do I simply call the SQL stored procedure sp_setapprole using standard LINQ before executing any of my methods that interact with the database, or is there a better way to enable and use AppRole within the LINQ to SQL class?
I was trying to use WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create[URL]..But get an error message! I am trying to use the WebRequest .NET framework class [URL]..How can I enable .NET? Is something wrong with my installation?
'm trying to use Visual Basic 2008 Express and connect to a DB of SQL Server 2008 Express but ... you can tell me why in the Database Explorer and the Data menu of VB only have the following options for data source? Microsoft Access Database File Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 Microsoft SQL Server Database File does not have the options Microsoft ODBC Data Source Microsoft SQL Server obs.: I have the Visual Web Express 2008 installed, and there are the options available.
I'm looking for a book that is pretty much A-Z for LINQ programming from Visual Basic. I am particularly interested in LINQ to SQL. I've found "Programming Microsoft LINQ in Microsoft .NET Framework 4" and while its description sounds interesting, there is no discussion on the book at all . Do any of you have any experience with this book? If so, what do you think of it?
I want to create a service which will connect to the database. So that it can capture any session changes in my laptop namely Login, Logoff Screen Lock & Screen unlock. Then the same can be captured & updated in the database. How to provide the connectivity between the service & the database. How to go about capturing the session change date & time.
I am developing an applikation that uses an access database for storing records. The form app is for the users to add and change data in the database and so on.
but then I should have a service to cycle thru the database to check some criterias and so on to trigger events etc. No problem with the service part, found this articel [URL]... With the form application i have no problem to connect to a database and manupulate the records etc..In the service app i have to manualy code the connection to the database. Does someone have a tutorial or could help me with some examples code for manualy connect and move in a table?
<DataContract()> _ Public MustInherit Class SystemTaskProcessBase Public MustOverride ReadOnly Property Name() As String Public MustOverride ReadOnly Property Description() As String Public MustOverride Property Result() As SystemTaskResult
[Code]...
I need to use these classes on the client system, but also need to be able to create these "tasks" through a management interface. Each class (Task) that inherits the base, could have its own properties that are unique to each class, but at the same time, share the same common base class properties. For example, the above shows a reboot task and a delete file task, the delete file task needs to know which file to delete, so has a property for that. But the reboot task does not need this property. So when the management application is creating these tasks, it shouldn't provide a text box for the file property for the reboot task. There may be more tasks created at a later date with completely different properties.
How would I go about providing the WinForms management application a way to enumerate each class into a ListView for example, and allowing the user to create these tasks and filling in the dynamic properties that each class would have? Desired functionality would be to create a task form that creates dynamic controls available for the properties as needed, depending on the public properties in each class, but at the same time have the base class properties available as well.
I am loading al lot of data from a server to a local PC. Then i crate a disconnected table localy and move data from the server to the local PC.Then to update the userinterface (Wondows forms datagridview) i think i will use Linq ti move from this local tabel to the datagridview. On server there is 1000 000 rows in first tabel(source), to the user i have 30 000 rows each time the user loads forms and greate a smaler local table. That is once a day. But each time the user move to next row in datatabel there is 12 rows from my local table who is printed into the a new datagriview. How do i connect Linc to my ado table ?
I am working on moving a project from VB6 to VB 2008 Express. [Code] When I connect to mysql db in VB6, I connect using adAsynConnect. This way, I have a "Loading..." animation display while a connection is attempted. Is there a way to do this in 2008 Express? Or something similar I could read up on?
I added a new database using SQL Server Management studio express 2008. I can connect to that database using Web Developer and Visual Studio just fine. But when I try to connect from VB Express 2008 I get an error message "file in use by another program". VB only prompts me for the name of the database, but Web Developer and Visual Studio prompts me for both server instance and database name. I'm sure this is just something simple I'm missing.
I found similar forum thread [URL], but he don't have answers. How I can conncect | send | recive data using tcp connection with specific internet service (not web).
I'm trying to create a base interface for a class of mine that uses generics. However, I cannot figure out how to declare a property of the interface when its type won't be defined until the class is initialized.
To clarify, consider List(of T), which according to msdn, implements IList (among other things). Note that IList is not the same as its generic counterpart IList(Of T). So that mean any List(of T) can be converted to IList, which simply returns an object for its items. That's what I want to do with MyClass(of T), be able to cast it as IMyClass regardless of what T is.
But when I try such as:
Interface IMyClass Prop A as Object Class MyClass(of T) Implements IMyClass Prop A as T Implements IMyClass.A
I get a signature error for the last line, even though object is broader than T. What am I doing wrong, or how exactly did Microsoft manage to make List(of T) implement IList?
