View 1 RepliesI've created a custom DateTimePicker and implemented code I found on the web to allow customization of the BackColor of the dtp (Making use of WndProc). However, I've discovered that this doesnt work in Windows 7 with the XP Visual Styles option enabled in the project. How to make this work for Win7, without disabling the Visual Styles (the controls look ugly without them).
Below is the code I'm using:
Private _BackColorBrush As SolidBrush = New SolidBrush(SystemColors.Window)
Public Overrides Property BackColor As Color
Get
Return MyBase.BackColor
End Get
Set(value As Color)

I have actually two list boxes and grid view. The grid view has three coloumns fields. Now i want to customize the grid view with the list box. Suppose the fields are employeename, employee id,employee code. The left list box contains all the three fields namely employeename, employee id,employee code. There is an add button fixed so that on adding the selected row moves to right list box;the moved row gets removed from left list box.Now left list box has only rows employee name and employee id.Whereas right list box has employee code. Now when user hits Ok button the rows in the right list box are only highlighted.

I am getting following error when I am trying to use Convert.FromBase64String "The input is not a valid Base-64 string as it contains a non-base 64 character, more than two padding characters, or a non-white space character among the padding characters."

Basically when my facebook registration form [URL]mphone field has a dash in it and encoded string is posted to other page and I am trying to decode it there which creates this error. Basically I am trying to extract data from Facebook Signed Request.
In my winform app in VB.NET I want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips don't seem to change when I choose another language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR & nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program?

I can quickly knock together soem code to xlate base 10 to/from bae 13, but I just wondered if something very easy already exists in VB.NET (or even somethign generic, with base N, but right now I am only looking at base 13)
View 1 RepliesI have multilingual application that was done in VB2005.We recently had a request to translate the application to Arabic (Egypt), so I have been happily running through all of the forms and changing the layout for Right to Left format.I have 2 forms that are problematic though. On one form, whenever I select Arabic (Egypt), it will automatically switch the selection to Arabic (Saudi Arabia) and try to add an ar-SA resx file.On the other problematic form, if I choose Arabic (Egypt), the IDE will automatically select Chinese (People's Republic of China), then copy the contents of my ar-EG resx file into the zh-CN file, overwriting all of our Chinese translations and layout changes with the Arabic ones.

View 2 RepliesTrying to implement some sort of commit/rollback functionality in my base objects. I have it working with some help from google. However, I have a question My Base Class has a BeginEdit as shown below -
[Code]...
Now, what I'm confused about is if I create another class, Class1, that inherits the base class. I add some properties such as Name, Age, Location, etc. to Class1.When I do Class1.BeginEdit, wouldn't "Me.memberwiseclone" make a copy of Class1, then CType try to cast it from Class1 to the BaseObject class? How does that work if Class1 has additional properties like the Name, Age..blah blah? Where do those gets stored in the Base class? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the concept...
I am trying to familiarise my self with connecting to SQL and manipulating data and I seem to have fallen at the first hurdle I am trying to programmtically connect to a database and fill a data grid with a dataset.
The problem seems to be with the data provider my code is:

Dim cnnOriginalFileLo As OleDbConnection = New OleDbConnection

View 9 RepliesI'm working on a simple base form in which all the other forms in the project will inherit. This base form only adds 5 properties (at the moment) dealing with painting a gradient background. The problem I'm facing right now is when I change a property on Form1 (the test form) and click run it doesn't show that change. I also checked the .designer.vb file and when I make a change it's not added to the code behind file, I'm at a loss right now to why

I'm considering switching office systems and now use ACCESS 2000 for my database of choice. I'm
retired and write programs in Visual Basic to keep busy.Does anyone know if a Libre database is
practical as a substitute for Access?
suppose I have the following hirarchy:
Public Class PrimalClass
Public Event SomeEvent()
End Class
Public Class BaseClass
[code]....
this code compiles and runs.what I want to do, is remove the event SomeEvent in BaseClass so that DerivedClass won't be able to register a handler to it.
I am at the stage of planning the application which will conect to a Ms SQl database, and process some data to Excel files. The problem is, that i would like to make a base pure application, without any functionality, and then add functionalities by adding some external files with code to program folder.I`not sure if what i just wrote is clear. To simplify:I would like to have an application which connects to a database, but let`s say when after 1 year, i will be in need of some more functionality, i woun`t have to change the code of whole application, but can just add a new file, and when I run the application there will be one more function to be chosen from the list.

View 2 RepliesI'm struggling here.. I know I can disable the warning manually. However I'm not sure if this would be the right way to go about this.
Here's my interface..vbnet Public Interface IPopulatingClassBase Property Identity() As Int64 ReadOnly Property Dirty() As Boolean Sub Populate_Class(ByVal RecordID As Int64) Sub Save_Class() Sub Reset_Class()End Interface
[Code]...
PS In my example think of it as classes that populate with data from a database. The parent class would be an organization, and the derived class a location. Both populate and have similar functionality. The only difference is locations are an entity of an organization(the data record for a location constraints it to an organization) upon loading location data I also populate the organization class. This is a real example of what my project does.. so having said I just want to know how I can get around this warning, and if not would it have any consequences if I left it as-is.
Is there a way to get the base folder of the executable? I tried some other things that I found on google, but I can't use them (not in the library or something like that).
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to figure out how to get mixed-language support working in Visual Studio 2008. In my app_code folder, I've created two subfolders (CS, VB), and added the following to the web.config file:
[Code]...
The main application is a VB.NET Web application (with a .vbproj file). Any time I attempt to open a C# file from the app_codecs folder, it treats the file as Visual Basic for compilation and syntax checking purposes. It still tries to build the classes in the CS folder as though they were Visual Basic. (The extension on these classes is, indeed, .cs.)
