basically i need to change the text of a label where the name of the label comes from the value of a variable.So, for example,
Dim x as String = "lblTarget"
Dim y as String = "Target Text"
In this case the text of "lblTarget" would need to be come "Target Text". Basically, the label that is named the value of variable x would need to take on the text of variable y.

My vb.net application needs to use a session variable. I don't really know how to use it in ASP.net. I've been trying to use what my books have, but I can't get this label to work. I need the user input to be validated against the database and if their code is in the database, the textbox should disappear and a label will appear saying Welcome. The way I wrote it, I get an error saying the server tag is not well formed and in the codebehind it says that the ID of my label is not declared. Can anyone spot any problems with the code I wrote?

Is there a way to do something like: (where csinglechar is the number being read from the text file)
Dim Number_File As String = "numbers.txt"
Dim read_numbers As New System.IO.StreamReader(Number_File)
Dim intsinglechar As Integer
[Code]....
When a number is read in the text file, the label: labelNUMBER_FROM_TEXT_FILE increments by one.

I would like a label to always show the current value of a boolean. This will change a lot of times and would like the label to ALWAYS reflect this.
Is there some kind of way to have the label set to the boolean byref (so its always the same). Currently I'm assigning the label.text = boolean onLoad, so if the boolean changes after that its not reflected.

I'm working on my final for VB.NET, and maybe it's just late...but here's how it goes. I need to make a variable named intMoney and it will be used to keep track of how much money you have and the value will be displayed in a label. Since this 'game' will have a lot of things going on, it needs to be available in a lot of places, not just one click event.
But I need to set intMoney to a starting value of 200 and then assign intMoney to a label called lblMoney. I can't assign intMoney to lblMoney in global. I get build errors. Where should I put the lblMoney.Text = intMoney?

I have a label in my Form which on loading, displays the contents of a text file. The contents of the text file may change and if so, the number of lines also will. I would like the Form to automatically resize itself based on the number of lines in the file. If there are more lines that the size of the label can take, I would like it to either resize or show scroll bars.

In visual basic , when you create a label in form view (via click and drag) is it possible to make the label have both a string and a variable included in it?
*
turns=1
label1.text = ("Turn:"(turns))

Say that i have the following code that parse about 20k records from the DB.
Code #1
vb.net While reader.Read()
list.Add(If(Integer.TryParse(reader(0).ToString, 0), Integer.Parse(reader(0).ToString), 0))
End While
And then another code which does the very same thing but it seems to be a little cleaner.
Code #2
vb.net While reader.Read()
Dim storeowner As Integer = 0
Integer.TryParse(reader(0).ToString, storeowner)
list.Add(storeowner)
End While
This is what i am confused about; does the compiler creates a new variable automatically when i use the if statement without strictly declared variable? What approach is better in sense of performance?

Public Shared Function isFault(ByRef code As String) As Boolean
rejectedList.Add(code)
RejectedPartsNumberLabel.Text = rejectedList.Count
Return (code.Length = 7 And IsNumeric(Mid(code, 1, 1))) Or (code.Length = 4 And Mid(code, 1, 2) = "NC")
End Function

I'm trying to use the timer (not a Timer object) in a Do... Until loop. I want the loop to put a single variable into a label. When I do this it works and puts the value into the label (lblOxygenReading):
If btnGetOxygen.Text = "Get Oxygen Reading" Then
Select Case True
Case rdoColorWhite.Checked
strCurrentColor = "White"
Case rdoColorRed.Checked
[Code] .....
It goes through the Do loop and the For.. next loop but doesn't change the label. Visual Studio doesn't show any errors when I'm writing the code, but when I run it, it hangs somewhere.

I want to alter the .visible property of a label based on if a variable is positive or negative (Hiding it for negative values)
But I want to do this for lots of labels so If Statements are too bulky.
I tried this:
Label1.visible = CBool(IntVariable1)
But it turns out CBool returns True for ANY value and False for Zero.I'd assumed it would be True for positive values and False for negatives.How can I do it without if statements?I considered Modulo or SquareRoots to somehow convert a negative number into zero, but didn't want to complicate things with imaginary numbers.

If a string variable contains the name of an integer variable how do I then use the contents of the integer variable.i.e.I have a string variable called 'Rowname' which will contain the name of an integer variable.The integer variables will have been previously defined with values such as RowA = 0, RowB = 5, RowC = 10..I now want to add together the contents of the variable defined in 'RowName' with a the contents of an integer variable ColumnNumber.

I'm trying to write a sub that when sent a form (if its needed) will create a label on that form. This is because all of the forms will have the same title label. My problem is that, basically, I have no idea how to do this. I also can't get labels to create when the code is written into the form itself; I tried:

In several of my apps I have Build Date shown in the Help -> About screen, just so that people can see how recent the version of the app they are using is. I just manually set the text of this label to the current date whenever I compile a new version of the app, but on more than one occasion I have forgotten... so I'm wondering if there is any way I can automate this?So just to clarify - I do not want today's date (as in the date that the program is being run on), I want to get the date that the program was compiled (either at runtime or compile time, just as long as I dont have to manually enter it)

I just want to to change a label name from the backgroundworker, the code is plain simple:
label1.text = WebBrowser1.DocumentTitle and the error returned would be "Specified cast is not valid".
Now running the code from a button would do the job, but from the bgworker not, and I can't seem to get around it.

When the form first loads there are two global variables (assigned values in the form load sub as a default) that set the number of days back in time and how many days ahead events will be displayed (in an array of labels). If the user wants to view more events (or less events) the number of labels displayed (and the text they contain) will change. I have one sub (code below)that creates an array of labels.
