I loaded up VS 2010 to work on a VB.NET project but for some reason the Run/Pause/Stop buttons are missing from the toolbar and I cannot set breakpoints. Only changes from yesterday to my system was this morning Windows was trying to install Visual Studio SP1 updates but all failed.

I can start my audio file (WAV file in the C-Drive) fine with;

Thus allowing other functions to be carried out.I can stop my audio with;

But i would like to be able to pause and restart the audio?There are timers and getkeystates envolved with this form. The timers I can pause and restart, the getkeystates are a function called in conjunction with the timers as a case statement, (all this is working).how to pause and restart the audio, bearing in mind the loaction and the other features of the form? Right now in my app I have a Pause and a Continue button, basically I enable/disable the controls on the form. Is there a better way to handle this.

I am fairly new to programming and vb.net and I am working on a small project but in the project i need a message box (2 different occasions) where the buttons, instead of Yes No say Pause and GO. The video [URL] told me to make a new form (dialogue) and then in my main form add a public sub.

I have an app that I'm debugging and I need to pause it by clicking on a "pause" button in the development environment. I don't want to stop it programmatically, just manually to check what it is doing. I know this should be simple but I can't find a pause button anywhere on the toolbar.

View 3 RepliesOne of our users cannot see two buttons on a form, that everybody else can see. I'm not sure if the buttons are not there or the window is smaller than it should be. The size of this window is fixed, so it cannot be adjusted manually. (it is like a pop-up window infront of the main window). Our application is used by employees of our company all over the world. So they all have windows xp in different languages and their regional settings differ. But I can't see how that would make a difference.

If i go into the code I see the code for the onclick, but if I go back to the designer and click on one of the buttons, I get a new onclick section. Will the code for the button break if i move the buttons around the panels?

I've managed to make it through most of the book, which was very helpful in getting a quick jump start, but I find that I am still "not quite getting it" yet.
I've written a program that has a "Start" and "Stop" button which are suppose to control the logging of data through a serial port. When I click the Start button, the serial port gets initialized, opened, and then I go into a Do-Loop-Until loop to process the incoming data stream, and that is suppose to stop when the Stop button is pressed. However, I haven't figured out how to implement that.

I have a USB interface connected to my PC which is used to control DC motors (robotics). Supplied with the interface is a VB program that produces a form with text inputs (motor speed) and tick boxes (motor on/off). This program calls upon a supplied .dll for the interface. I have played around with this program and have added extra buttons to 'stop all' or 'run two motors simultaneously' etc.What I really want to do is run a sequence of events, for example:
-Motor 1 on, speed 50, run time 5 seconds
-Motor 1 off for 2 seconds
-Motor 2 on etc, etc

Works Good, but when I add the btnStartStop.Text = "Start" or .Text = "Stop" to the If Statements, it's always getting stuck on "Stop" I also tried a Boolean statement but came out all funky, EVERY OTHER button was Disabled while the OTHERS were Enabled. I feel like a n00b, I've been programing for a bit now, but just got back into it,
I created a form and have the variable inputs for 4 motor run statements. Then with a start button the script starts and it is surrounded by a for next statement to loop 10 times. It works fine but if i need to stop the execution of the script with a stop button. I put the stop in a new section but of course does not work to do a motor stop. It just causes the exe to not respond till the loop is complete. Just need to be able to stop the Run1_Click button section.
Edit:I do not mind if it finishes the 4 motor run commands and then stops execution of the loop. So need to figure out a way to trigger a stop from a button on the form to stop the cycle. For the future the loop will be a variable integer input so 10 will not be the standard.
Edit::Does a ' Do ' statement sound like the thing to use? If so how and where would I place that? Have a Stop button on the form and it would stop after the 4th motor run command.

I have a START and STOP button and when the user clicks "start" the program does a whole bunch of calculations and all. However, I noticed that when I was testing the program I clicked STOP the program continues to execute stuff.
My START code is basically a while loop that iteratively does some calculations.
So I just put a boolean variable as the while condition and when user clicks stop its set to false and when user clicks start its set to true. However, when I click stop, the condition is set to false yes but it still executes all the code until the condition is re-evaluated right...so my question is how can I get out of the while loop when user instantly clicks "stop"?
I want to insert a pause between the display of one control (a button) and the display of another control (a label) on a windows form. Specifically, I want the form to load with the button (and other controls) displayed, then, after a pause of two seconds, the label to display. I have tried timers, and .Sleep() but the effect is not what I want. That is, there is a pause before all of the controls are displayed, and all (including the label) are displayed at one time. I want most of the controls (all except the label) to display normally, then, after a two second pause, I want the label to display (on the same form).

I am new to stackoverflow and the programming world. I have a basic program i'm making that will play a song in the background.
I already have that part working, it auto starts a launch of program.
However, I would like to have a button that pauses, then resumes the audio.
(I am trying to avoid making it a media player and using the media player control) Song was add as a resource.

View 5 RepliesI cannot find the pause command in VB 2010 Express, even if I pressed Ctrl+Pause, VB opens new tab titled "No source available" In previous VB express 2005 and 2008 it was simple to edit the code while running but in VB 2010 I have to stop the code or put a break point inside the procedure which I want to edit.
View 9 RepliesOkay so I have a webbrowser that navigates to 1 page and I want it to wait 5 seconds and go to the next page, then I want it to wait 5 seconds and go to the next page I want it to navigate to and so on... I tried thread.sleep but I don't want to have the form stop completely in case someone wants to minimize the form. I thought about using a timer to tell it how long it wants to stop and go.
