I have a form with a tab control on it. I've coded all of my button clicks, but for some reason when I do an F5, some of the buttons aren't working. If i go into the code I see the code for the onclick, but if I go back to the designer and click on one of the buttons, I get a new onclick section. Will the code for the button break if i move the buttons around the panels?

I'm very new to Visual Basic, and have just installed VB Express 2008 from a Sams book titled, "Teach Yourself Visual Basic 2008 in 24 Hours", by James Foxall. I've managed to make it through most of the book, which was very helpful in getting a quick jump start, but I find that I am still "not quite getting it" yet.
I've written a program that has a "Start" and "Stop" button which are suppose to control the logging of data through a serial port. When I click the Start button, the serial port gets initialized, opened, and then I go into a Do-Loop-Until loop to process the incoming data stream, and that is suppose to stop when the Stop button is pressed. However, I haven't figured out how to implement that.

I loaded up VS 2010 to work on a VB.NET project but for some reason the Run/Pause/Stop buttons are missing from the toolbar and I cannot set breakpoints. Only changes from yesterday to my system was this morning Windows was trying to install Visual Studio SP1 updates but all failed.

Supplied with the interface is a VB program that produces a form with text inputs (motor speed) and tick boxes (motor on/off). This program calls upon a supplied .dll for the interface. I have played around with this program and have added extra buttons to 'stop all' or 'run two motors simultaneously' etc.What I really want to do is run a sequence of events, for example:
-Motor 1 on, speed 50, run time 5 seconds
-Motor 1 off for 2 seconds
-Motor 2 on etc, etc

Works Good, but when I add the btnStartStop.Text = "Start" or .Text = "Stop" to the If Statements, it's always getting stuck on "Stop" I also tried a Boolean statement but came out all funky, EVERY OTHER button was Disabled while the OTHERS were Enabled. I am having a problem and that is I have buttons to read text to speech like play pause and stop I have created 4 buttons Play,Pause,Stop,Resume but now I dont want the Resume button, instead when I click on the pause button it should pause the speech and later when I click the same button again I need the speech to be resumed this is what I wrote?

the code working is fine. the crystal report 9 when I use vb.net 2003. but the crystal report 11 when I use vb.net 2008. the same code is not working. the message say: vshost is stop working. can you tell me how to make is working?
View 2 RepliesI recently did an upgrade on my computer.I went from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010.I also have Crystal reports 2008 installed. Everything seemed to be working fine for several weeks until Crystal Reports just stopped working.When I open crystal reports now it locks up.Crystal Reports opens up and goes to the start page but the hour glass never goes away and you cant do anything with the program.The screen just seems to lock up and the only way to exit the program is to end task.
Ive tried repairing the installation which didnt work and then I completely uninstalled crystal reports then did a fresh install which didnt work.You can also create a crystal reports with Visual Studio but before doing so you have to download Crystal Reports for Visual Studio for 2010.Visual Studio 2007 also had a crystal reports builder which I used for a while but I got to the point where I liked Crystal so much that I just went out and bought the whole program Crystal Reports program.After I installed crystal reports I could no longer create reports through visual studio 2007 interface,I had to create my reports indepently with crystal reports.That was fine with me because you had a much richer user interface with the full version.

In the background their is a timer so the value will show after pressing button 1 and button 2 but with time interval for example in 1 second the value is showed in text box in next second text box is clear like blinking in every second. I am developing a vb.net media application using Windows Media Player which is working fairly well. However, I am having problems where the Function key handler will stop working after doing anything on the media control panel, i.e. mute, move the slider etc. So long as I don't touch the panel everything continues to work. I'm using the function keys to pull up menus for selecting other media and if I do anything with the control panel I can no longer display the menus.

View 2 RepliesAll of the sudden none of the pre programmed buttons on my form work anymore. The only buttons that do work are those i create in runtime.
I allready replaced all my buttons with new buttons.Beacuse i thought maby i've changed something in their settings. I've put breakers on the Private Button_click subs to see if anything happens. Nothing absolutly nothing happens if i click my pre programmed buttons.
Update: Well i figured out what was wrong. VS2010 had removed all the "handles button.click" behind the subs. And it won't create them when i dubble click a button i program time.

I am trying to use the keydown/keyup events with buttons in the same project and it not working properly. I have 4 red boxes and when I press an arrow key the box should change to green according to which arrow key it corrosponds to. I have this part working fine, however only when there is nothing else in the project. When I add in say 3 buttons, Button1, Button2, Button3 and try runing the program instead of the correct red box changing to green, button outline just moves between buttons 1,2 and 3. I have tried turning tabstop off for the three buttons but that didnt work. how to read the keydown/keyup while still having buttions that can be pressed with a mouse?
View 4 RepliesI have a piece of software with two tabs, inside each tab there are buttons (the user can add the buttons when they want). when tab1 is full tab2 should start to fill. I currently know how many buttons fit on the screen so I just say something like if buttons > 150 then start to populate tab 2 The problem i have now though is if the resolution is changed then a different amount of buttons can be displayed. so if I put my screen to 1280x720 some buttons are left of. I was thinking of detecting the resolution and then using different cases for different resolutions but this seems very inefficient im wondering if there is a different way?

Alright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.
My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.

I created a form and have the variable inputs for 4 motor run statements. Then with a start button the script starts and it is surrounded by a for next statement to loop 10 times. It works fine but if i need to stop the execution of the script with a stop button. I put the stop in a new section but of course does not work to do a motor stop. It just causes the exe to not respond till the loop is complete. Just need to be able to stop the Run1_Click button section.
Edit:I do not mind if it finishes the 4 motor run commands and then stops execution of the loop. So need to figure out a way to trigger a stop from a button on the form to stop the cycle. For the future the loop will be a variable integer input so 10 will not be the standard.
Edit::Does a ' Do ' statement sound like the thing to use? If so how and where would I place that? Have a Stop button on the form and it would stop after the 4th motor run command.

Problem is I can't get the code behind to recognize the image. I tried to register it in the designer code with Protected WithEvents btnViewSpec As HtmlImage but no luck. I guess I just don't fully understand the issue or what gets registered in the designer code.

Is this a necessity in c#, or is there something that I'm overlooking or missing?
