Im doing this project but u have a problem. im trying to make it so that when a timer in the first form(form1) ticks a progress bar in the other form goes up by 1.
View 2 RepliesFor reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.

I am using a timer control to display a message form in my application, but it's not working the way I want it to. Currently, when the timer event fires I create a new instance of my message form & display it. But if the user is away from their desk & doesn't close the message form before the timer fires again, a new instance of the message form is created & shown. So how can I check to see if the message form is currently shown on the screen so multiple ones dont get displayed? This is my timer event:

I've created a form that has a timer control. When this form loads it counts down before running a procedure. Simple.
Now I want to subclass this form in a new VB.NET project to so that another form inherits this form (an it's timer functionality) and runs a different procedure on this new form.My problem is that when I create the form in my new project the timer from the parent form seems to be running and when it's time is up it runs and code and crashes the VS environment.
I've searched high and low but have only found references to making sure the timer is disabled at design time. I've done this on the parent form but in this parent form's Load event the timer is enabled.... the purpose of the form. So when the child form loads it is enabling the timer. How can I work around this? Can I enable the timer from the child form? Timer is not visible when the child form loads so how do I manipulate it?
i am asking about using the progress bar into the status bar to move when i load any child form inside the MDIParent form.

So a timer's maximum interval is 1 which is a thousand ticks a second. A Stopwatch's frequency is 2238906 ticks a second on my pc...
I am wondering if there is a reliable way to trigger an event for each tick of the stopwatch without missing any ticks...
If I can somehow get a Tick event for the stopwatch, I believe I can increase the resolution of my input recorder....
I have one form, which the user enters upto 5 websites then clicks go - I have on the second form, the one with the webbrowser. timer which checks if the web browser is busy then either a green light or black image will be shown along side the assocaited input box on the first form. I am finding it impossible to feed variables into the clock through ByVal, like I would a subroutine or function.

I have a timer in vb.net and it's interval is 1000ms ,. i have placed in it's timer_tick event a code that will print screen the screen and save it to a database.The problem is when i click outside of the form, or loosing the focus of the mouse to the form containing that timer/printscreen, the timer stops. As a result the printscreen also stops.here are it's properties:

View 5 Repliesi just got visual studio pro 2 days ago and every time i create a project, close VS 2010 and when i come back to work on my project and i click on my Form.vb i got every time : Visual Studio has stopped working.Then i tried run as administrator it doesn't work. What i don't understand it's when i click on show code the form load but the moment i click on it ,it just crashing and it's make me wanna drop laptop cascade...I've look on forum and post here but i haven't saw what i was searching.Here the error that VS show me :(Those files doesn't exist i search)

I have read a lot of the prior questions/answers on this topic but it only took me so far. I have a solution to which I added 2 additional programs. These 2 added programs in essence create a PDF2TIFF converter using GS. I wish to call that form and use it as a utility from my main program. After reading other answers in the forum, I added these two programs as references in the main program and imported everything available, into the main program. I have what seems to be a correct build order set up. I want to open the form in the utility project(s) from a link on my main form. I tried a few things but the only way I could write the code without errors was to instantiate the second program then call that with a button click.

I have 2 forms, main Form1 and a loginform. When I start the application, first "Form1" is loaded and then with a button click, user can load "loginform" if required to enable/disable some features/controls on Form1.The sequence is like this:
1) Load main form Form1
2) click a button on Form1
3) Load the loginform.
4) enter user/pwd and click OK button
5) enable/disable "GroupBox" control on Form1 if login sucessful.
For this,I made a click event for OK button in loginform, so once user clicks the OK button, I want to call one function which is defined in Form1 as a Public, which enables/disables the "GroupBox" control on Form1. The code structure is like this:in main Form1, i created a function like this:
