VS 2010 Set Form Size Longer But After Building Project Form Re-sizing
May 1, 2010I'm trying to set form size longer, but after building the project form resizing.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create my own custom "inputbox" (can't think of VB.Net term for the VB6 input box).
Anyways, I'd like to have a label & a textbox on my form along with 2 buttons. I want to let the label to grow based on the text that is in it. I know it has an autosize feature to it, and guess I can use that, how do I limit the width so that once it hits that limit it goes to a new line so that if I have a message or a question to pose to the user, it doesn't get too wide. Kind of like MessageBox.Show.
It'll be Label at the top, textbox under that, and the two buttons under that. I'd like the textbox to move up/down based on the size of the label, and the buttons to do the same along with the window not becoming too wide.
In my project, form_double Click and Form_Maximize is not working when i do break point. Its not Button_Click, Form_Load. I want to do like this. "My project design form grid column size is small when form load and want to be large grid column size when the form is maximize."
View 1 RepliesIm doing this project but u have a problem. im trying to make it so that when a timer in the first form(form1) ticks a progress bar in the other form goes up by 1.
View 2 RepliesSuppose we have a form with a button and a textbox
The button code goes like this:
'
Dim NF as New Form
Dim NC as New Combobox
NF.size = New size (420, 30)

I have been searching for code and/or a tutorial on how to proportianally resize controls and fonts. For example if I design a form at 800 X 600 and the user maximizes the form to 1600 X 1200, I need the form and controls to grow to fill the screen almost like a zoom function.
View 11 Replies why the title has "(con't)" is because of this Form Resize With Control Sizing... almost named it with another thread on here. And I wanted to post, but it was already a 'Zombie Thread'.Thanks to _HAWK_'s post #11, instead of declaring every control I use. Would declaring it an array (fast guess - Label<Array(how many - 1; aka - X)>) work? ... that was probably Java... My point has probably been made, or can I just do Label.Scale(variable)?I had already set my declaration of the form I need to do this on "Resize". I am not quite at this stage yet, but I see this saving a lot of time asking early.
The +1 extra question is:How can I be able to split of a form in 3 unequal sections? The initial form is 800*600-left side has 2 sections, each 400*300 right side is 400*600.I am already using 3 'GroupBox' and it looks ugly because I have each one colored differently.I looked into Splitter and SplitContainter and TableLayoutContainer.
I am wonderring if there is a way the panels and the datagrid would get bigger according to the form? I need the panel to fill up the form. Because I got the form sat to whatever the users resolution is to a full screen, controls should follow accordingly
View 2 RepliesHow can I make it so that when I re-size my program all my buttons and text boxes move with it. I don't know how to explain it, but it's like if I have a button in the center of my form and I re-size my form I want my button to stay centered not just have the form stretch out.
View 1 RepliesI'm looking for help resizing a label's size and its font size based on its window size. That's to say when a window resizes, the label itself adjusts it font and background box to do the same.I know I'm triggering something on the Resize event of the form, but I don't know what.
View 2 RepliesI designed my form on my machine running 1282x1024. It works fine. I installed it on a client machine running 1024x768 and the form goes off the bottom edge of the screen. I set autoscale on the form to none, font, dpi, and inherited, changed my screen resolution and ran the program. It always looks the same, off the bottom os the screen. I tried Autoscroll on with no effect.
My reading of the documentation seems to indicate these two items are more for the system font size and the screen's dpi setting, not the screen resolution but I can't find anything else to work with. How do I make the form and everything on it change size based on the screen resolution?
When ever i publish the project, i get a bunch of deployment files and a setup file. Even after running the set up there is no .exe file.Is this just VB .Net way of opening the file now? Do i even need to use the installer? My program uses very basic math with list's and datagrid views.
View 2 RepliesI have an application with several forms. The form Main.vb has always been editable in the designer. However, this has changed. The icon in front of the name has changed to a module icon, and the designer and code are no longer found. When I run the application, it still functions as expected.
View 4 RepliesFirst of all, apologies if I have posted in the wrong forum, I am new to the forum and cannot find any "help" or "support" forums.I have been working on a web browser in VB. I want to make the WebBrowser auto-size whenever the client re-sizes the form (window). I have got it working mainly, exept for 1 problem; I have a status strip, and the web browser overlaps the status strip.
Private Sub Form1_SizeChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.SizeChanged
WebBrowser1.Width = Me.Width()

the title of this topic may sound like a simple property that I need to disable, but I am pretty sure it might be something more difficult than that. I have a borderless form and I want the size to be 280,32. The width of it is fine, but whenever I set the form to visible, it changes the height to 38 instead. I have added event handlers for ClientSizeChanged, and it changes the size to 10, and then to 38. This is only when I set the visible property to true. I have tried setting almost all the properties to their inverse to see any effect and I don't see anything happen.
View 3 Repliesi am making a Long form and I want it to print in legal size paper. Only thing is I use printform and it does letter size only. Also it cuts off the left over labels i need to print out. I made a Database input form and an output form for printing.
View 2 RepliesJust trying to make a form which is 15,13 (small I know!).When I set the form size it accepts it but when building it bumps the form size back up to a larger value. The reason this is required is irrelevant, just wondering if there is a minimum size a form can be set to and if there is, is there a work around?
View 4 RepliesI would like to be able to fire/trigger an event when the form is no longer the top most window (ie the window that is on top of all other windows), and then close the form with me.close()
View 5 Repliesbasically my problem is my program i made is fine on my screen, but when i port it to my mates screen some of my listboxes and buttons are not visable. because of his resolution i want to me able make my prgram adaptiable to specific screen resolutions.
View 9 RepliesI am new to this forum, and have search both here and on the interwebz.I don't have my code here right now, but thought I could ask anyways:I have an application that is going to run in fullscreen and display a clock in a defined position on the screen when it is in fullscreen mode. How can I define that position so that the clock appears at that point regardless of resolution on the screen?
View 19 Repliesi am very new to VB and have been trying to make a hangman game. I was wandering if there is a way to add multiple label boxes to a form based on the size of an array. For example a user inputs the word h-e-l-l-o in a input box that word is then split and put into an array(arrword) then i want the main form to appear with 5 label boxes each one containing a letter that from the array(arrword)
View 8 RepliesI have a form with a text box in a toolstrip. I would like to make the width of the textbox relative to the form size when the form is resized. The following code works fine except when you click the restore button from a maximized state.

i was wondering i have a picture box which is controlld by the keyboard, and the picture is able to leave the form. i was wondering how to stop it leaving the form without knowing the exact size of the form and using multiple points on the edge of the form.
View 3 RepliesIn VB10/win forms project, when I change the forms font size the form and all the controls on the form get larger or smaller, OK great! The problem is the combo boxes then appear with their text highlighted. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong, simple example..

I'm running VS2010, and I'm trying to open (or show) a form from a different project. My solution contains 3 projects: #1-The main program, #2-a custom control DLL, #3-a report generator project.I want to use a menu item click in project #1, to open (Load & show) a form in project #3. I can't figure out how to programmatically get access to the a form in a project #3.
View 3 Repliesi am trying to add an existing form to my project to reuse. From solution explorer Add>>Add Existing Item i select [filename].vb. But i can only see the codes not the dialog items.
View 2 RepliesI would like to make a form that prints the same size as a Legal Form, (8 1/2" x 14") When I check on the internet I see that the pixels can very at 75dpi the form is 637 x 1050 pixels. But at 300dpi the form is 2550 x 4200. Do I have to build the form as per the dpi ratio? I cannot make the form greater than 1612 x 1212. I have tried serching the internet for ways of expanding the form to greater pixels in the height than 1212. I am running Verion 7 of Windows and I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express.
View 5 RepliesWhen press F5 to compile a project, there are no errors or warnings but the form won't show up. What's up?
View 3 RepliesFor some reason I can not make my form size larger than my current windows resolution in the IDE (design time). Very irritating...Is there anyway to stop this?
