VB 6.3 And Reflections - Pull User Information From Excel And Set It To Inout The Data
Jun 26, 2008
I am new to Vb script or any scripting at all. I have made a script for reflections that run vb 6.3 macros I have modified the original script to use msgbox and input boxes as below:
I am designing a fairly small application to manage a waiting area for a clinical department. There will be a receptionist who books appointments and updates exisiting appointments to say that a patient has "Arrived". In seperate rooms will be nurses who call patients who have "Arrived" and update the appointment as "In Session" and finally as "Discharged". The appointments are viewed in a flexgrid with nurses across the top and time down the left, patient names are displayed at the relevant times and the cells are shaded a colour to represent the current appointment status ("Booked", "Arrived", "In Session" and "Discharged").
I am using SQL Server as the back-end and Visual Basic 6 (I know) as my front-end.I have been told that there will be 2 or 3 nurses plus the receptionist logged in to the system but I would like to cater for growth. My question is what is the best mechanism to use in order to reflect the status change made by one user on the screens of the other users currently logged in?
I have been thinking about using a timer to refresh the data at a set interval but I do not want to keep hitting the server excessively (although what is considered excessive? we would be talking about a call for data every 60 secs per user). Plus the server could be serving data for many other applications so this is another consideration.Alternatively I have been thinking about sending some kind of message via Winsock to the other users notifying them of data changes as they happen. I don't have a lot of experience with this and am concerned about clients not receiving messages and users seeing old data. It also seems strange to me that once the days appointments have been retrieved from the database that "in theory" a client could go the whole day without having to query the database again to pick up changes - kind of scary. Some information on the data:We would probably be looking at around 100 appointments per day We capture patient name, date of birth, date and time of appointment and appointment status. What is the standard approach / best practice for this kind of scenario?
The program is currently trying to pull information from three different database tables and compiling the information onto one screen, to do this i am using three different connections and a function to handle the data at each stage. The issue is as my code hits PageLoadStage of "2" and runs the QueryDatabase() Function i am encountering an error of: "OleDB exception unhandled: No value given for one or more of the required parameters." This occurs on line 15 of the first code snippet. Can anyone explain this and/or identify any code issues if that is the cause.
I am trying to work with an access database. If this line pulls data from a dataset and puts it into a textbox: TextBox1.Text = Me.A_DataSet.a_Table.Rows(0).Item(0).ToString How would I pull the field name? For Example, in this database I have 3 fields:
I'm trying to pull information from an XML webpage but for some reason it just isn't working. The XML webpage looks a little like
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <item> <reqdat>Date and time</reqdate> <result>Completed</result> </item>
I want to get the node, but everything I've tried hasn't worked :( I think what I need to do might have something to do with SelectSingleNode but I'm not sure.
I am building a program using VS 2010.It needs to be a set of forms that allows a manager to log in so that data entry people can enter in data based on another form.I also need to create a hot key set up that pulls up another form so that a supervisor can pull up the information that employees have entered.I have my solution file that I can put up for a download if needs be to see what I'm talking about. I don't think it should be that hard to make this program work.
I have tried to do some research on my own but I haven't found anything substantial. I was wondering if it is possible to pull low-level hardware information off of a HDD or stick of RAM using the latest visual basic.net. Mostly curious in pulling serial number and model number.
I am having trouble with this list box assignment. I am supposed to pull the information from a text file in the debug folder. The problem is the code looks perfect to me, but when I debug, the first line that starts with : lstSummary.items.add returns as being in the wrong format. The code is below.
Private Sub btnSummary_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSummary.Click Dim strAccount As String
I have this rather stupid litle excel issue which somehow just doesn't go away by itself;I'm creating a excel chart from three rows of information data. Each row has a header, so far so good. The first row exixt of calender data and I planned it to use them as my x-axis labeling. But somehow excel uses them as variables and changes them in to a third bar. Which is not what I had in mind when copied this litle piece of code.[code]
I want to pull information from an array and place it into a chart of text boxes on the form. I have used a control array before but this time I want to create a dwo dimension control array. My guessing is not working... The display will be 10 x 10?
Im using visual basic 2010 and im building a program that will basically, you click on something in the list it will automatically open a .dat file pull the information that it needs, and then proceed to enter it into a box on the right. Well heres my issue i know how to do everything else but i cant seem to imitate this image, i need to know how i can make a list like this where the whole row is selectable, and the items/subitems are divided.
Basically, I have a quiz program for which It would be much simpler for me If i could pull the strings for the correct questions to display and answer to test if i could pull them from excel. For example,
vb If qststrng = (excel document cell A1) and answrstrng = (excel document cell B1) Then 'Correct End if
Or maybe there's something much simpler already integrated into Visual Studios 2010 in which i can copy and paste my excel data and then pull the data in a similar way all within Visual Studios?
I have a text box where i am entering numbers of double datatype andon the Keytdown event of the textbox some checks take pace and in certain circumstances I want to be able to stop the user from entering other information until they enter the right information in the textbox (where it says right here) . now when I say exit sub the textbox somehow loses focus . but this is not how I want it to be I want the textbox to remain with the focus so the user can change the information . How can i go about this. And the other thing is why is my txtDestPayRate1.Focus() just befor the exit sub not working?
Private Sub txtDestPayRate1_KeyDown1(sender As Object, e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles txtDestPayRate1.KeyDown
The following is a program that lets users store business logic for later retrieval by other users.
I am trying to run multiple logical statements pulled from sql server database. one statement may be dependent on another one. I've been compliling the code in a wrapper and In-Memory set to True. I ran 18 logical statements in a loop and it took approx 3 seconds to run. These were simple one line statements containging math and/or If Then's.
Any other methods available out there. please no 3rd party plug-ins.
My goal is to, Pull information from a websight's textboxes in IE into my program textboxes. and to later Put changes from into other values on the websight from my program into it. The sight has multiple textboxes, on different frames. within it.I need to keep it as a exsiting open browser instead of making a new one. only gotten as far as finding the open internet explorer window, by useing
I have one table here with a list of UserIDs, Users, and ClientCodes. Each user can be assigned a client code to view that client's data elsewhere. Right now I have to change it for everyone via SQL Server and actually going into the table manually, but I'm trying to make a simple little program that will let the user change it themselves. All I need is a textbox that pulls the user based on a certain UserID from the table, and a drop down list that will not only show the current ClientCode they're set to, but allow me to change it and save that change to the table in the database.
What's the best way to go about this? I tried using the wizards but I guess that's not the best way to go about it. I have it displaying the correct user and their current ClientCode but that's about it.
I am trying to learn the new methods in .net, but, I cant see a way to step through the data like you can in an ado recordset. I want to pull data from a table once, then split the data with a filter, then step through the rows gathering the dtata till eof. Clear the filter and reset it for the next batch.
When creating a right click (ContextMenuStrip) menu for a systray (NotifyIcon) icon, how do I give it the same style as most other context menus? Most other menus have a nice fade inout when right clicking on the system tray Icon. In addition they respond immediately when moving between nested levels. I cannot replicate this in Visual Studio 2008 using a simple form, NotifyIcon and ContextMenuStrip assigned. The menu appears harshly with no fade effect regardless of any property.
I need to pull a random word from a text file in my resource folder (visual Studio 2010) and then have a user enter a letter to see if it is in the word. Yes, Hangman game. There is more, but right now I need to pull from that text file for a start. I know what I have is not even close to right under "Get Word Button", but I'm kind of confused about the process.
Public Class hangMan Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim word As New Random End Sub
I have to use the word list supplied and cannot use "streamreader" so, I need to pull a random word from text file in my resource folder (Visual Studio 2010) so user can guess letters for hangman game). I don't know if the code under "get word" button is right or not as far as pulling from the file. I would like to get that far!
i am using vb .net and importing excel sheet to ms access. i am doing this work very well. but i want that when a user select the excel file to import, than user must asked for the data types that he want for the different fields, by default when user imports the excel file it assign the text data type to text filed such as name and number data type to numeric field such as roll_no. but i want that user select the data type according to his need.
code that i use is to import file is given below:
Imports System.Data.OleDb Imports excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel Public Class Form2
I need to be able to pull the data from a row to either store in variables or to place into a class to store the variables there. I've tried to do so with the following code but get an error about the row not existing
I have two comboboxes and a listBox to display data from several databases. The whole process should be that after an option is selected in the first comboBox, the second comboBox and the listBox are populated. So for example, I could select a Company from the first comboBox, and the second conboBox will be populated with all it's locations while the listBox will first display the location of the headquarters(default location). But the user can then select a different location from the second comboBox if they want to and the listBox will then display the location of that newly selected office location.how do I dynamically pull these data from various databases cause all the companies will have their information in separate DB's. My challenge is how to dynamically pull these data from the various DB's to populate these 3 controls.
My program pulls a weeks worth of records at a time and filters it into daily columns on a form, the problem is that there are ~80 fields to be filled in this manner and as far as i know each one has to be check for null before it can be filled. Could someone tell me if there is a faster way to do this? Below is my current code for one set of fields.
Private Sub cboDigit_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cboDigit.SelectedIndexChanged, cboOffice.SelectedIndexChanged, dtEndDate.ValueChanged, dtStartDate.ValueChanged
I am a beginner at both vb.net and JAVA. I have self taught myself just about everything I know so far.I have a project where my boss wants me to create a macro using VB.Net to pull data from a webpage. The only problem that I have have is that this webpage is written in JAVA and is a owned by a third party. Does anyone have any advice, solutions, or references on how I can do this?
This is what I have so far, I know it should be simple as hell, but I'm having a huge brainfart at the moment. Im going to continue messing with it though. Im trying to make it so I can input a number for a percentage, multiply that with my current array prices, and display the total in the listbox. I have a few theories on why it isnt working but cant pinpoint which one to use, I'm at a basic level to this and still learning the process. Im also pretty sure I dont have everything I need on here yet.
I'm having a problem to pull data from MS Access to my combobox. I know how to search one data using another data (e.g: using IC num to search name) but this time I just want to pull the data (e.g: name) that has several rows to my combobox. I think the method is the same but don't know where to change it.
Then when I added new names to the combobox, want to save it to my database, can each name be saved in different rows? I added the names to the combobox 1st, after that then I saved it. [code]...
