PowerPoint GetClickIndex When Moving Animations?

Jun 30, 2010

I use GetClickIndex when I receive a Powerpointall_SlideShowOnNext event to move the selected index of a list of animations (built previously from the Timeline object). The first animation returns 1, the second 2 and so on.

This works fine until I manually move animations up or down the Animations Pane list using the PP Animations ribbon and re-start the slide show. Now GetClickIndex returns 1 for each SlideShowOnNext event I receive.

VS 2008 Moving 2D Map Using VB2008?

Jun 15, 2009

I am coding a program and I want to add an option of moving 2D map (using the mouse to move the map left, right, up and down). when I say to move a map is not moving a window. I want actually to move the map itself, for example "google maps".

Playing Animations One After Other

Oct 16, 2011

I'm trying to make a sort of 2D turn based battle system using GDI+. I'm calling the animation through a Game loop, the animation itself works fine however I have found that both animations play at the same time. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a way around this or a way to fix it?

Regarding Apps And Animations?

Jul 8, 2010

I'm developing a media player app and upon looking at it for a week now, it seems really bland. I would really like to add some animations for it (besides just moving forms with x,y locations) but have no idea where to start.

Are more complex apps/designs/animations better suited for a language like c#/c++? I've never done animations before (except simple form moving) and I think now would be a great time to get some opinions!

You could probably say this would linger more so on 3d images and 3d animations

Animations - Display A Gif As A Still Image

May 20, 2009

So I can display a gif as a still image but it only shows the first frame if you use image.fromfile and I couldn't figure out how to use imageanimation or whatever it is. Do I have to use a timer or is there some class that does it? The same with the video - there is my.computer.audio.play, but no video equivalent, so what do I do?

Making Animations Aware Of Each Other (WPF)?

Jan 21, 2009

WPF question here, I'm using VB.NET as the code-behind so I figure I might get away with posting it here :P Just in case anyone has any ideas.I've got a StoryBoard that runs on MouseEnter and MouseLeave, basically all it does is scales the control up a bit to make it larger and moves it accross the screen slightly (on MouseEnter) and then on MouseLeave it just sets it back to how it was.

The problem is that the animation lasts for about 1.5 seconds, but if the user just passes their mouse over the control and then half way through the animation they move the mouse off the control then the second StoryBoard kicks in but starts with the control in its final position from the MouseEnter animation. Obviously this results in a "skipping" or "jumping" effect in the animation and is less than ideal. So I'm just wondering how you are supposed to make it so that if an animation is half way through and then another event is triggered so another animation starts then it kind of 'gracefully' hands over to the animation that is starting.

VS 2005 - Make A Program Where You Can Control An Object And It Has Multiple Animations

Nov 23, 2009

I only started using visual basic earlier this year so I'm still a newbie but I've been wondering some things:

1. When you have a picturebox back color to transparent, objects under it still get hidden. Is there a way around this?

2. I've been trying to make a program where you can control an object, and it has multiple animations, but I can't figure out a way of doing this other than having a bunch of picture boxes together and making them visible/not visible as needed. Is there a better way to do this?

3. (I think) I know how to make global variables (dim whatever as global.system.integer ? I don't have it on the computer I'm posting with), but how do I make another form use them?

4. Is there a way to have multiple sounds play at the same time? Whenever I play a sound it stops whatever else is playing.

Moving From C# To .Net?

Mar 8, 2009

So as a direct result of this global financial hoohar I'm going to start a new job as a VB.net developer tomorrow. Up to this point I've been developing in C# (bit of java, vb6, sql, tibco, etc. here and there)

So the question is this, what are the gotchas to look out for and does anyone have any good advice on writing good vb.net code?(Any other advice on coping with a salary / prospects drop welcome but not essential Just a quick update, company seems really good, current code base appears to be of a very high quality.Am starting to adjust to the VB way of doing things (can't stop myself adding semicolons everywhere though!).

Can't Get Scrollbar On (VB2008)

Jun 30, 2010

I have inherited support for a program written in VB2008

The problem I have is as follows:

Users have a low screen resolution (company policy) and so can't see the bottom of a particular form.

The bottom of the form has buttons that allow them to navigate between its' four pages so they need to be able to see them. This being the case I need to add a scrollbar to the form.

If I try to drag and drop a vscrollbar from the toolbox it just sits there at runtime (you can slide the button on the toolbar up and down but nothing happens regarding scrolling the page.

All the reading I have done seems to point to forms being given scrollbars in accordance to the AutoScroll, AutoScrollMargin and AutoscrollMinSize properties of the Form itself.

By setting these properties I can get scrollbars to appear in the IDE but they are not there at runtime.

I think I'm probably missing something really obvious here but, so far, have been unable to work out what it is.

2010 - Moving On From VB6 To .Net?

Jun 21, 2010

I am finally making the move to vb.net after having supported VB6 apps all this time. I have been learning vb.net 2010 but am finding it difficult to find relevant information on the COM aspect. In VB6 COM was the dominating feature of the language, however, I can't seem to find relevant information on what has happened to COM in vb.net, does it still exist in vb.net, does it work in the same way or are apps designed in a different way in .net to do away with COM dll's?

C# - Tell Which Tab Are Moving From/to In A .NET Tab Control?

Aug 24, 2009

I need to determine which tab the user is coming from, and going to, when they switch tabs, and possibly cancel the switch. I have tried the Deselecting, Deselected, Selecting, Selected events, and all of them show the e.TabPageIndex to be the same as the sender.SelectedIndex.

Is there an event, or property, that I can use so that I can determine both sides of this, or do I have to hack something together with caching it from one event and using that value in the new event.

I am trying to avoid handling the Deselecting/Deselected events and caching the value to use in the Selecting event. I already know I can do this, so I am asking if there is a cleaner way, without doing this.

I have tried in both C# and VB, with the same results (no surprise).

Get A Box To Sit On A Moving Platform?

Mar 6, 2012

Am making a game for a college project, its just a mario like game except its a frog.

I want the frog to be able to jump on top of a moving platform in order to get to the other side. However the timer doesn't stop and the frog keeps on moving down. The moving platform has a separate timer called timer2 and the gravity timer is called timer1.

Here is a picture just to show you the game and the frog falling through the platform.

For some reason the moving platform leaves a trail of itself, be cool if you could also fix that for me hehe.

Here is the code for the 'collision '

If Player.Right >= platform.Left And Player.Bottom = platform.Top And Player.Left <= platform.Right Then
Timer1.Stop()
End If
