This works great but I can't open my app anymore when it's sleeping and it uses about 25% of my CPU. I guess there must be a better way to do this. When I try to open the connection like oConnection.open() I am getting error like "Login failed for this user. User is not associated with trusted connection."By some googling I get the idea that I am using Windows authentication mode. So how can I change it to mix mode authentication? View 1 RepliesI work for a shop that maintains a fairly new app. The app still has its fair share of bugs, with numerous tickets coming in daily. The error information we're given with those tickets is not as useful as it might be because the application was compiled in Release mode, which I read is smaller and faster (makes sense).
Are there any ramifications to deploying a .NET application to production that was compiled in Debug mode? I would expect it would be a bit slower, but I've read the difference is nominal. This would assure us that when we get errors on tickets we have line number associated with those errors and this, of course, makes debugging much easier. major red flags that would prevent you from doing this? I'm tasked with researching the possibility.

View 13 RepliesI have distributed a simple VB 2005 application that generally runs just fine without any installation: the user just inserts the CD and it starts via autorun.inf. The rare problem the users have is if they do not have .Net Framework 2 installed. I want to catch this error in my application, and display an appropriate message. I also want to test this on my own computer (which of course has the Framework installed). So my questions are
1. Should I be using a try-catch-end try in the form load sub, or somewhere else? and
2. How can I test this on my own computer without un-installing the Framwork? If I can raise an error while debugging, what error number should I raise?

I need to animate a picture box meter while a wav file is playing. I have searched in the library, but I can't find any relevant info for checking if a sound is playing for vb.
