I'm making a rock paper scissors program and once I set the current_scene variable to 1, the MainLoop() sub doesn't keep looping, but the sub doesn't exit either. (Form1.vb is the most important file.)

I am looping through a database with pdf locations. The application is button click event driven. The problem I am having is that I display a pdf. If the user clicks on the button then the pdf information is inserted into a database and the loop should be taking me to the next pdf. However, this loop does not seem to give what I need. What ends up happening is the first pdf gets displayed twice. I think mainly because I display the first pdf onload, but when I click the button it agrees and grabs the first item from the database. And it ends up falling behind because its restarting the query and I cant quite figure out how to get the button to catch the first displayed pdf, or skip it entirely since I am using a welcome pdf. So on the welcome pdf that is supposed to be displayed initially the user clicks agree and it agrees to the welcome pdf instead of just skipping it. I am not quite sure how to just move past the pdf.

Now if I run the code without the loop it works fine. I just end up having to run the app however many pdfs I have in my database.

To display pdfs I imported the com control for adobe so pdfs get displayed like this:

pdflocation is passed from a query fill.
I think I have an underlying design issue which probably precedes the loop.
Im working on a console application, and i need my application to open message boxes without stopping/interupting/pausing the loop. I have been trying to make it open another application which spawns the messageboxes, but then every message box comsumes ~4MB RAM which becomes a problem when to many gets opened.

what I want is when i hits certain value, like let's just say i is divisible by 365, then the 'while' looping will stop, and a message box saying "target reached" appear. then after I click button1, the looping will resume until it reaches the next number divisible by 365, and so on.

View 1 RepliesI have a For..Each loop which loops trough all grid's rectangles and changes the fill of them randomly. I change the fill with a color animation. Here's my code:

The problem is that the loop doesn't sleep. I want to trigger the animation, then wait until the rectangle fill is changed and then continue with the rest, but it seems that all of the rectangles fill are changed in the same time.
I have a datatable and I want to delete individual rows on the basis of a certain condition. How to do it in minimum lines of code possible?

I think I'm close but how do you get what the text box is bound to? I'm trying to loop through all my textboxes and add a handler that on validation will insert a null if it equals string.empty. How to set the property manager by sending it the appropriate Binding context. I know that this code will not find textboxes in panels or ones that are on other controls, that's fine, for now. I'm also not sure how it will handle controls that are bound to different datasets.
I have the following code [code] This loop takes sometimes up to a minute to execute. I would like to display a message box giving the user the option of terminating the loop. When I use ShowDialog the loop doesn't execute until DialogResult is returned. When I use Show, the forms buttons are not accessible until do loop is finished. How can I make this work?

I have a form with a listbox. I'm adding items to the listbox through a file that I saved. When I open the file, I want each line/string in the file to go in as a separate item in the listbox. I've gotten it to work so far but only with 1 string. I need to loop the part where the file is being read to be able to add all the strings that are within the file to the listbox. How do I do this? So I'm running a For loop that creates a ThreadPool thread and executes a task. Once the For loop finishes, I'd like it to "start over" and do the same thing. Now this obviously causes an infinite loop if I don't do it right.
what I'm kind of wondering is; is there a way to "keep" those threadpool threads active and constantly performing a task? it seems like they get disposed of once their "task" is complete.
Right now, the thread connects to a webservice, captures some data, stores it in a List(of String). This ultimately builds a ListView with the data. One of the columns is a "count" and i'd like to keep updating that count continually.
I have an application that runs perfectly on XP. When I run in on Win 7, it works perfectly when I run it in the IDE but when I deploy it, the application starts OK but some of the functions don't work as they should. I know it could be anything but does anything stand out?

I'm trying to update my database, I'm using access 2003, my problem is that for some reason I can update the first row but when I try to update any other rows after that I keep getting an error saying Column 'ProductID' is constrained to be unique. Value '7' is already present.

I have a field on my form for Check Number if a bill was paid by check, if not it should be blank. When I run the query in Access it returns the right records.the query loads all current customers, 99 out of a possible 107, when I navigate through the records as soon as I hit one where a Check was used, the Check Number field stays filled in for all records displayed after.

I am developing an application using Visual Basic .NET 2005. The application works fine in the PC which Im using to develop it. I make the setup.exe I install the application in other PC and the application doesnt work but it I replace the app.exe with the one in my debug folder it will work.

His project is finished but he didnt (and still doesnt) have time to fix a couple of bugs with his code....Basically, he has written a small VB application that closes SWF flash files if the CRC matches from a list... So when an SWF is loaded into explorer the SWF is hash checked and then closed if it matches from the "hashcheck.txt" file.
All is working apart from 2 small bugs:
1) %^&{}[]#`� - dont work.Ive found that If there is any of these charactors in the folder or filename structure the file doesnt get checked/closed.
2) Network paths do not work.. (maybe is part of above bug?)

This piece of code works well on one computer, but on another the IMEX=1 doesn't seem to work, and the Jet seems to read the first few rows of the Excel spreadsheet that are numeric and decides that the whole spreadsheet is numeric, so it ignores some String values later in the sheet.

View 6 RepliesI have a big windows forms project I'm working on. This project has 3 pictures included as resource. I had 3 pictures of each 5mb, which resulted in a .exe file of 17mb. This had to be adressed, because thats a bit to much, so I downsized the pictures to about 100kb each. I've removed the big pictures, and inserted the new ones. But when I compile the project, the .exe file still is 17mb, and it won't get any smaller. I've tried to 'Clean Solution',

Ok, so what I want is the opposite off what I do when I select a category in a combobox. Now I actually select a film and this film also has an ID, namely DvdID and with that I want that the combobox shows the category where the film belongs to.
