View 2 RepliesI have an asp.net application where I have a datatable ("DataTableA") that returns just one column ("ProductID").
I want to read each row of "ProductID", process some business logic, then copy both those columns (ProductID & ProductIDBusinessLogicValue) to DataTableB. This DataTableB is then displayed on the asp.net page.
What would bhe the best way to read each row of DataTableA ?
When my application loops through the first code block below, I get valid data for all datarow fields.
...
But I get an error when looping through that code block "Collection was modified; enumeration operation might not execute."
...
However, in the second code block, I get a valid record for MgrID, but I get a blank value for the other fields.
When I look in the database, all fields in that table have valid values.
I am trying to use the Select on a datatable and am having some trouble. I got it to find a match on rows in a datatable I fill with data in multiple columns. But I cannot seem to loop through the results to do something with it. Here is my code below. The table is already filled with data.

Is there a way of merging (importing or whatver is the correct terminology is) the data from an Array in to a DataTable woithout looping. I already know how to loop through the array to populate the DataTable with new DataRow but I'm looking for something much faster if it exists. I've got a 1 dimensional String array i.e. 'String()' that I need to populate a DataTable with new DataRows.
View 4 Repliesi have a many-to-many relationship table in a typed DataSet.For convenience on an update i'm deleting old relations before i'm adding the new(maybe the same as before). Now i wonder if this way is failsafe or if i should ensure only to delete which are really deleted(for example with LINQ) and only add that one which are really new.
In SQL-Server is a unique constraint defined for the relation table, the two foreign keys are a composite primary key. Is the order the DataAdapter updates the DataRows which RowState are <> Unchanged predictable or not?In other words: is it possible that DataAdapter.Update(DataTable) will result in an exception when the key already exists?

I have a datatable and I apply a filter to the defaultview.rowfilter property of that datatable. If I then loop through the rows collection of the datatable, will I only be able to see those rows that the filter applies to, or will it loop through all the rows?

I am just looping through a datagridview cells of some columns, my datagridview is having 134 rows and 09 columns, but my code stopping at row 124 stating above error.
My code is here:
Public Sub IScoLP(ByVal dGRid As DataGridView)
'SHUNTING
Dim w As String = "SHUNTING"
Dim T_wTYPE As Object
Dim T_ALp As Object
.....
Private Sub TextBoxHandlers()
For Each c As Control In Me.Controls
If TypeOf c Is TextBox Then
AddHandler c.DataBindings(0).Parse, AddressOf Textbox_Validate
End If
.....
I think I'm close but how do you get what the text box is bound to? I'm trying to loop through all my textboxes and add a handler that on validation will insert a null if it equals string.empty. How to set the property manager by sending it the appropriate Binding context. I know that this code will not find textboxes in panels or ones that are on other controls, that's fine, for now. I'm also not sure how it will handle controls that are bound to different datasets.
I'm experiencing a wierd problem deleting some .csv files. Any .csv files named 1.csv, 2.csv, or 3.csv will not delete using delete() method of system.io namespace. if i do any number greater than 3 it works. For example, 4.csv, 5.csv, etc. works fine. 1.xls, 2.xls also is ok. The error it is throwing in my log is 'access to the file is denied.' Nothing is using the file. I even copied a new file into the directory and it does not work. I even created a 1.csv in a totally different directory with no luck. What is going on with this? Has anyone ever experienced this?

View 19 RepliesI have created a project where I can attach files and I am displaying the name of the file, example:
Mytestfile.doc
mytestfile.txt
Mytestfile.pdf
I have the names being displayed on a listbox, so far everything is working just the way I expected to work. When a file is selected from my opendialogbox, the file gets saved into a folder under my local disk, so far so good. The problem that I am having is deleting the file from the folder.I have added a delete button and I would like to when I click or highlight one of the file names to go into where the file was saved previously and deleted This is the code that I have for the delete funtion:
[CODE Dim sFileName As String = "C:program filesSupport DeskAttachments" & ListBox1.Text
System.IO.File.Delete(sFileName)]
The problem is that if I add the code to the clcik event under the listbox, it works great, but if I add the code to the click event under my delete button, it doesn't work, what I found is that under the path, if I am under the click event from the listbox when it gets to the lisxtbox.text it displays the file name, which is what I whant, but when i tried the code under the click event under my delete button the listbox.text is blank.
I have a form with a listbox. I'm adding items to the listbox through a file that I saved. When I open the file, I want each line/string in the file to go in as a separate item in the listbox. I've gotten it to work so far but only with 1 string. I need to loop the part where the file is being read to be able to add all the strings that are within the file to the listbox. How do I do this? So far, this is the code I have:
VB .net
Private Sub OpenToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles OpenToolStripMenuItem.Click OpenFileDialog1.Filter =

"Deleting rows from multiple tables in SQL 2005". I need to delete all the rows in the multiple rows where it's the same UserId. My Delete command below:
Delete From tableA
From tableA INNER JOIN
tableB ON tableA.UserId = tableB.UserId INNER JOIN
tableC ON tableA.UserId = tableC.UserId INNER JOIN
tableD ON tableA.UserId = tableD.UserId
Where (tableA.UserId = @UserId) AND (tableB.UserId = @UserId) AND (tableC.UserId = @UserId) AND (tableD.UserId = @UserId)
What is happening from the above query is only the rows from tableA is getting deleted.

View 14 RepliesI have created a script that opens up an .msi with a transform file. To make changes to the transform file, I have created a temporary .msi file. Once the changes have been made to the file, I want to delete the temporary .msi, but I am unable to as I get an error that the file is in use by another process. That process is the VB .exe itself. I need to be able to release the handle on this file so that I am able to delete it.
I have tried this by using both the 'ReleasecomObject' using try/catch and through using 'FinalReleaseComObject'. I do not get errors when running this in the script, but it still won't allow me to delete the file.
I have a form with a parent bindingsource showing details and a child bindingsource showing the multiple line items in a dgv. edit: jmc posted a nice solution to this problem in the code bank just recently but I could not get it to work in 2005, this line, "AddHandler Me.LOTBindingSource.Adapter.RowUpdated, AddressOf parentAdapter_RowUpdated" throws an error. It say "Adapter is not a member of the System.windows.forms.bindingsource.
I have a problem which I am struggling to efficiently put into code. I have a datatable

I have a datagrid which has been bound to a datatable. If I sort the grig lets say by surname order I would like to export that datatable in that sorted order but whenever I do it never seems to be sorted.sorted order.
Basically what I see in the grid is how I want my exported table to be.
I probably shouldn't go down these roads, but stuff like this just gets to bugging me. Of course, with any of three possible database backends I should expect some quirks.I have a table that has one primary key field and several NOT NULL fields. So I do a SELECT * from the table and populate a .net datatable with the results.I can create a new row for the table, add the value for the primary key field, and then add the new row to the datatable. Everything works fine in Access. But in Oracle the situation is different.I have to supply values for all the NOT NULL fields before I can add the row to the datatable. As far as I can tell the two tables are the same in the two databases in both databases there is one PK field and the same fields are defined as NOT NULL. So why does the .net data provider for Oracle care when I try to add a row that does not have values in a NOT NULL field and the Access provider not?

i have a datatable that contains numerous postcodes in the following format
.....
there is always a space before the last 3 characters now i need to filter the datatable against a list of excluded postcode areas..these are the following format:-
BT1
BT2
BT4
BT40
so its either 2 letters & 1 number or 2 letters & 2 numbers, no 2nd part to the post code..i have a little function which builds the string, and then removes the rows from the dataset like so (ive pasted in an example postcode string)....
....
which obviously brings out no records as they all have full postcodes the issue is, i need to be comparing only the first half of postcode BTxx bit but cannot use a % wildcard, as this then would bring out BT40's when i only want, in this example, BT2 & BT4's..so is there a way to make it compare against the first half of the postcode?
