VS 2005 : Error : The Project Type Is Not Supported By This Installation

Jul 15, 2010

I've downloaded the MSDN "101 VB Samples" from the MS site and I'm getting an error that reads "The project type is not supported by this installation". I can open the other files that I've tried (about a dozen in other folders), so I'm wondering if it is something specific with the VSTO files, or something about my VB setup.

I thought at first it was a problem with the path where the file is sitting, but even moving it from C:Documents and Settings[my name]My DocumentsMSDN to C: didn't work...Edit: I have also tried opening in notepad and converting the file to UTF-8, changing the File Association from MS Visual Studio version selector to devenv.exe, and running devenv /setup at the command prompt, all with no luck (all these ideas were found through Googling the error message....).

Error Message: "This Server Version Is Not Supported Only Servers Up To Microsoft SQL 2005 Are Supported"

Nov 6, 2009

Error Message: "This server version is not supported. Only servers up to Microsoft SQL 2005 are supported VB.NET" I am using VB.NET 2008 and attempting to connect to SQL Server 2008 with XP as the operating system. I have service pack 1 installed in Visual Studio but this error message presists. The articles I have read on this error said to install sp1 as a solution but I have done that and the error persists. FYI, the error does not occur when I am using code to connect to SQL Server but when I attempt to connect using one of the designer wizards this error occure.

Add An SQL Database File Using VS 2005 Getting Error Message Saying Version Of Database Server Not Supported?

May 18, 2009

I recently upgraded the MS SQL Server installed on my personal computer from 2005 Express to 2008 Express. Problem is when I try to add an SQL database file to a project using VS 2005 I get an error message saying that the version of my database server is not supported, I must have SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later installed. I didn't do it yet but I'm pretty sure that when I open the other projects that I included a database file to it, I'm going to get the same error.
My question is it possible to have two SQL Servers installed on my machine? If so, is it a good idea to have two DB servers in the same machine?

VS 2005 : Old ActiveX Control No Longer Supported?

Jun 10, 2011

I have these robots. The maker of the robots (Sankyo) wrote some ActiveX controls. Some work, some don't. There is absolutely no support on the ActiveX from Sankyo or anybody else. I think except for parts and service Sankyo is out of the robotics business in the US.The examples are in VB6. Here is one example of one that does not work:

GetPosition(taskSpec As Long, coordType As Long, posArray As Variant)
Dim vPoints(3) As Single
SRSync.GetPosition 1, 1, vPoints

The error I get is a cryptic hex code that I can't find anything on. If I try the exact code above in VB6 I get a message that says that the vPoints variable is not the right kind of array. I have tried all kinds of data structures in both vb6 and vb.net including just a simple object. I suspect that the data is coming back in some kind of structure that makes vb puke.I have read about marshaling but an still confused. In this case I don't understand the underlying mechanics of how the returned stream of data gets converted into the variable "posArray".I am thinking that if I could just get a look at what is being returned then I could create some kind of code that could chop it up and make it usable.

The leaf nodes in the TreeView attempt to open a URL in an iframe within the page.This all works fine, but i would like the iframe to be hidden until the point the leaf node is selected.what event is triggered when the nodes are clicked?? I tried the SelectedNodeChanged event but this doesnt seem to get triggered!

UPDATE - The TreeView code is shown Below

<asp:TreeView ID="TreeView1" runat="server" OnSelectedNodeChanged="TreeView1_SelectedNodeChanged" DataSourceID="XmlDataSource2" AutoGenerateDataBindings="False">

While fiddling with my code i noticed that when i remove the NavigateUrlField="URL" from my code the tree triggers the SelectedNodeChange event, But does not Trigger if NavigateUrlField="URL" is put back in.

LINQ To Entities Does Not Recognize The Method [Type] GetValue[Type]?

Mar 14, 2012

I've a simple class like this:

(From tariffDetail In db.Context.TariffDetails
Where tariffDetial.TariffId = calculationParameter.TariffId).FirstOrDefault()

Dto is passed to Activity as an Input Argument.It raise following error and I'm wondering how to assign Id.LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'Int64

GetValue[Int64](System.Activities.LocationReference)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression.

How can I assign the calculationParameter.TariffId to tariffDetial.TariffId?!

UPDATE:Screen shot attached shows that how I'm trying to assign calculationParameter.TariffId to tariffDetail.TariffId (car.Id = Dto.Id) and the query result should assign to CurrentTrafficDetail object.
