VS 2005 It Takes Much Time To Load 100,000 Records In Datagridview?
May 27, 2012
i'm making a utility in which i'm loading 100,000 records again and again, problem is that it takes much time to load records in datagridview every time.
i've used data set and data reader both but same result. if i use paging then there's will be a problem of search a record on keyup event.
The converted project takes too much time to load than previous vb6 project. What manual changes to the code should be done or is there any other option. Is it due to vb6 to vb.net conversion.
I made two applications the first one calls the other. But the other application takes time to load. Even on a fast Pc. So i was thinking of adding a loading form to it. For example when the other application is done loading the loading form goes away.
Whenever I publish my app, or when I run the exe from teh debug folder it takes a couple of seconds before the splash screen shows. However, when I run it from within VB (by pressing the "play" button) the splash screen shows immediately.
I have 4k records in access database. And one of the field value contains ~100 lines each so and one other field has ~25 lines. So total database size reaches ~30MB and it takes lot of time 15-20 seconds to load the database in vb.net using odbc [URL]..and updating of any other small fields also takes time due to database being large
So as an alternative I used rtf file (txt files were not preserving all the newline characters). So these file are around 5-10kb only. But for 4k records and 2 fields I have now 8k files. And copying of these 8k rtf files is taking huge time for 5MB transfer it takes an hour or so.So is there any other alternative for storage of this data. So that it will be portable and easily loaded/accessed/updated from vb.net?
Why my form loads takes time the first time I clicked the menu to load it (I even see not responding on the title bar), but when it is already loaded, I will close it and clicked the menu to load it again then it load fast already....
Here is what I have in my declaration section Private cnn As New SqlConnection(My.Settings.MyConnectionString) Dim cmdLocked As New SqlCommand Dim daGrade As New SqlDataAdapter Dim daLocked As New SqlDataAdapter Dim builder As New SqlCommandBuilder [Code] .....
I have a web portal designed in ASP.NET in which we ask customers to enter the data. On the click of submit button all i have done is, just read the data and called a stored procedure which inserts that into a table. There seems to be a problem in SQL Server 2005 while inserting the data from multiple computers at the same time. We have tested in our lab with three computers, result is that we get the data inserted successfully in only one machine and on the other two machines we get error on page. I have used transactions in the stored procedure and also tried setting the isolation levels to READ_UNCOMMITTED, SERIALIZABLE and SNAPSHOT. Nothing seems to work properly.
I managed to displayed records from two tables in one datagridview and the first column being a combobox. Now, I would like to get those records displayed and save it to another table. this what I did.
For i As Integer = 0 To dtgLoad.Rows.Count - 1 Using command As New SqlCommand("INSERT INTO tblteachersload (Teacher ,SubjectName) " & _ "VALUES (@Teacher, @Subject)", cnn) With command.Parameters .AddWithValue("@Teacher", Me.dtgLoad("Column1", 0).Value) [Code] ......
I would like to loop through the records of the datagridview and then save the same to a table.
I'm trying to make a program that takes my old records from Access and moves them to MySQL. Its supposed to take records from 3 different tables in Access to 3 different tables in MySQL. The first table is "Orders" and it sorts the ones to pull to the dataset, taxDS, by "Where Status = 'Waiting Payment' OR 'Cancelled'". Then the second table pulls its info(this is where i'm having trouble) by the "Control_Number" in the "Orders" table, so basically if the control number isnt already in the dataset its not going to pull the data into the new table "FNF Taxes".
Imports System.Data.OleDb Imports MySql.Data.MySqlClient Public Class Backup
[code]....
So now after my 3rd edit and no answers, I'm finally at the point where I'm only stuck on my For..Next statement not working, How can i get this statement to run for each 24,000 controlnumbers?
Ok, this might be something stupid that im not doing right, but here is my problem. Im moving from my 1st form, a small window, into my second form, that is full screen, but it takes like 4-5 seconds to load the full form. It sucks because during this 4-5 second load time, parts of the form at transparent and it just look bad. I think it might be because i have around 35 labels and a few other objects on the form. Does anyone know a way to make this not happen? Im in VB08.
regarding the DataGridView Checkbox.. I have two Forms, The 1st one has a datagridview..but in order to load the data to form1 datagridview, i need to open another form w/c also has a datagridview w/checkboxes on it.. I need to select a data in the form2 datagridview w/the use of checkbox..when i select an item..then press the ok button, the checked checkbox with the info corresponds to the data i selected will appear in the form1 datagridview. I have done this and works fine, but when i select two data or when i checked two items on the form2 datagridview.. only one info is added on the form1 datagridview.. here is my
I have create setup for my project, when i tried to open the form which contain datagridview on it. It give me this error. Here is the attachment screen shot of the error. How to solve this error.
I achieved all functionality what was needed but my issue is creating and disposing the object is time consuming. Is there any method by which we can make it faster .
I am using word object for spell checking in richtextbox
An in-line table valued function in SSMS takes about 6 seconds to return 11088 records. The same function in VB .Net 4.0 using TableAdapters.InputTableAdapter.GetData (Created with data set designer) takes about 15 minutes complete. Both are executed from the same workstation. Why does this discrepancy exist?
in my program i have a timer, and every 5 sec (for example) i send a string by serial.i have to read every key pressed between each 5 sec and send a number that tells me what i am sending.what I've done is to send 1 as long as up key is pressed and send 8 as long as left key is pressed and send 9 as long as both are pressed.when i run my program, the first time i press up and left at the same time and i keep them pressed, the serial send me the first time 9 and then ignores the up key and send me 8 always.and sometimes send me 9 and after that always send me 1 and ignores the left key..the point is that vb ignores the first button i press even if i keep pressing it..what should i do to make vb.net takes two arrows keys at the same time?
Actually, I am trying to find out whether the partno is existing in the database table or not and it takes long time in count = checkCommand.ExecuteReader statement
Public Function CheckProductNo(ByVal Partno As String) As Boolean Dim count As SqlDataReader Dim valid As Boolean = False Using connection As New SqlConnection
I'm trying to time how long an operation takes in Visual Basic (VS 2008) but its not working. the code I have is as follows:
[code]...
this is in an OnClick event, so what happens is that the user can click a menu item, and it goes and sends any changes it has to a database, and pulls down any new changes to a local data cache. This operation takes time, depending on how many changes are on the server and how many are cached locally. I've thought about making this a background task, so it doesn't draw away from the main app while it's running, but before doing that, I'd like to get an idea how long the operation takes. Since I can't exactly do a progress bar, I figured using the stopwatch would tell me how many ticks/milliseconds would occur between click, and when the "total synced" message comes up, but every time i run it and do an update the message always shows 0 ticks/ms. I don't think it's accounting for the delay, just from start to finish. Is there any way to make it so it detects a message popping up and times off that?
I ran into a problem where the listbox is taking awfully long time to show up. This is not the same in java(It took very very less time - one second max). So, is there any remedy to this??, any other form control??, or some other way?? imports System.Threading imports System.Windows.Forms
Basically, It is a program that allows you to automatically click things.
Here is the
Public Class Form1 Private Declare Function GetAsyncKeyState Lib "user32" (ByVal vkey As Long) As Integer
[Code].....
What I wanted to do was make an option to have variations in tick time. I want to put in a check box, and if it is checked then there will be 10 "variations" in click time, ranging from 1 second too soon, to 1 second late.
I am using the below code to get the local Administrator members, but this code takes about 6-7 seconds to execute. More precisely the "GetObject" takes that long.Is there another way to get the same information but faster? Also, where can I find what other properties the objects holds ? (To see what other useful information I can get)[code]
I have the below code. What happens if the Upload method takes more than one minute for completion? Does the timer kick off another call to the Upload method immediately after one minute is over or Does it wait until the method finishes executing? I am implementing this as a windows service.
Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args() As String) Dim tmr As Timer = New Timer(New TimerCallback(AddressOf Upload), Nothing, 1000, 60000) While Not tmr Is Nothing
I have a DataGridView that I'm loading into Excel through the use of an ADODB.Recordset. It works fine, except for a column I have that displays the time. Not the current time, but the time when a file was sent. It displays correctly in the DataGridView but displays 12:00 AM for every row in excel. I'm adding it to the DataGridView like this:
i have developed an application using OPEN XML SDK Tool 2.0 which generates Excel file. I have Data table of 100000 row and 30 columns and i want to generate excel file with these 100000 rows and 30 columns but it takes about 2 minutes of time to generate excel file. What can i do to reduce this time.
I'm trying to bind a datagridview to a tableadapter which contains a query that requires parameters (for the WHERE statement of the query). The datasource is a SQL Server database. When I bind the datagridview in design view, it does not let me choose which tableadapter method I would like to use. The way I've been fixing this is to go into the code behind that form, where Visual Studio puts in some auto-generated code that fills a datatable in the dataset and I change the method that it's using there and put in my parameters. I don't think this is the proper way to do it, however, especially because sometimes that code doesn't even get generated! My other solution is to just programatically bind the datagridview to a datatable which I have filled using the tableadapter. This seems like more work than it should be, though.
If a user clicks the blank row at the bottom of a DataGridView and moves focus away from the DataGridView, the row click in now is in a state that indicates a change is made to that row.
Is it possible to tell the DataGridView to un-mark this row as being changed?
Is it possible to reset this row when focus is off the DataGridView?
We are using the following event handler to alert the user if the Invoiced On is left blank:
Private Sub dataGridViewPayments_CellValidating(ByVal sender As Object, _ ByVal e As DataGridViewCellValidatingEventArgs) _ Handles DataGridViewPayments.CellValidating
[Code].....
Looks like we need a way to stop this from executing if the user simply clicks in the grid then clicks somewhere else in the form.
