VS 2005 Refuses To Write To A Text File If The String Used To Be A Path
Dec 13, 2009
I've searched everywhere to find out why the heck my program is doing this, but couldn't find anything like it...? I'm making a flash card program. Part of my program takes images corresponding to other data from a certain area, chosen by the user, and moves them to another folder, for later use. I want to store the path for the image next to the other data, storing the path as a string. When no image is chosen, the variable for the path is simply "no image".

I want to write a line into a text/.cfg file. The line is = name "ishtiak". I need a sapce between name & "ishtiak". The text "ishtiak" is loading from a textbox called textbox1. I dont want in the text box my name like this "ishtiak" it will be without "" like this ishtiak
but in the text file it will add "" before & after my name.
So the question is
1. How to add space between name & "ishtiak"? like this = name "ishtiak"
2. My textbox text will be ishtiak,but it will be written like this "ishtiak"
Here is My Project Screen & Project Code
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
Dim thefile As String = "C:append.cfg"
Dim lines() As String = System.IO.File.ReadAllLines("C:append.cfg")
lines(4) = "name" & TextBox1.Text
System.IO.File.WriteAllLines("C:append.cfg", lines)
End Sub

I would like to read an HTML file, search each line to see if it starts with </head>. Then add the centering code after it. That line at destination file should read:
</head><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="2" width="760"align="center"><tr><td>
After this I don't care to search for anything. Just read from source and write to destination. I know there are programs out there to find/replace text in series of files but I am not allowed to use external programs.

Reading a .txt file in VB.net. My file path is C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt.
This is my line of Dim LoanOptionsFile As String = "C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt"
I can read the file when I run the program, but how do I write the file path so that someone else can download my program and file and read the file on their system?

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 (college only has 2005 so..) and I have a very important program to write for college.My problem is, every time I try to compile I get the error: "Error while trying to run project: Could not load file or assembly "Program" or one of its dependencies. The given assembly name or codebase was invalid." We're talking a very simple program - I've only been learning for a few weeks.

I have thios code that will load a php file (text file) into a sting via streamreader then its supposed to find and replace a portion of the text and write the changes back out to the file via streamwriter. I put my code together and after running it look at the file and it's unchanged. After looking closer it appears the problem is the find & replace operation I am doing on the string. Here is my code:

Im trying to write to a file I created and place "Unregistered" in it. Thought it would be a simple task but keep getting an error. Its happening when I try and open the file to write. This is the error: Access to the path 'G:\Projects\Project\pbss\bin\Debug\5\pbssv\Data.DB' is denied.
Ive tried adding the file attributes to read-write and still get the same. Most of the code ive looked at via a google search points to the same as ive got for the Added default value area. Im not sure if there is a conflict between the 2 different ways im accessing the file when creating and writing too? [Code]

I thought I was done with the tree view control until i realised that my tree view control was behaving differently when it came to sub nodes . I have attached my treeview pic and also a sample tree view.
(-)D:
|_config.msi
|_netfile.sys
[Code]....
Since I clicked on subfolder1 i was expecting the msgbox to display D:Folder1Subfolder1 but unfortunately the msg box doesnto even have the name of the node i clicked on but when i use selectednode.text I get the correct node text. Anyways why isnt my full path working. I then tried manually designing the entire scenario using tree node editor and the code which i mentioned above works. But whenever i populate the trr programatically the above problem starts.

I get an "augmentexception was unhandled" error whenever I run this script. The string assigned to "location" is fine, in fact when I paste it to the clip board and replace the "location" string in the ReadAllText() it works fine. Any suggestions? I assume this is a super easy fix but I've been at it for quit a while with no luck.

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim printProcess As New Process

' printProcess.StartInfo.FileName = My.Resources.Countdown_Timer_Help
printProcess.StartInfo.Verb = "Print"
printProcess.Start()

i need to write more than one string to a text document. for instance if i use mutiple user inputs and get this information:
Username= Tom password= PassW0rd
status= Enabled what is the best, simplest way to add these 3 string to one text document?
.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllText("C:User1", Text as String,
False) will just do one line in a text document.

I want to read through a flat file, find the line starting with the number I want, and edit that line.So if the file looked like
01435804385043295
02843759248752092
03854379857394857
and I want to edit the value 4375 in line 02 (pos. 4-7) to be 4376.I know I can read it with a streamreader, and write to the end or entire file with streamwriter, but how can i read and write at the same time?
Downloading the entire file to a string and then recreating is NOT an option.

I have a very large text file about 4 million lines that I would like to separate into several small text files based on the strings contained in the first column of the text file. I want to open the large text file, choose the lines that apply, create a new text file with a name that has a number at the end of which will match up with the value in the first column of the text file. I want to then copy the applicable lines to the new small text file, save and close it. I'm not sure how to go about doing this after opening the large text file and using the readline method. What if the folder does not exist? Do we have to create it? I want this procedure to be general, as there could be up to 25 million lines in the text file.
