VS 2005 Removing Spaces From A Masktextbox

Apr 17, 2009

I have a maskedtextbox as I want to force the user to enter only a IP address. My mask is: ### . ### . ### . ###

I have entered spaces between to dots and at both ends. This is what the user wants. I guess makes it easier to read.

However, I need to remove the spaces and have written the code below. However, I think I have done this in an over complex way. By using a char array.

And when I try to print the end result in a message box I get this 'System.char[]'

' Save all the configuration settings
Private Sub btnSave_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Dim sip As String = txtSIP_IP.Text

[Code].....

Select Case - Removing Spaces At End Of Number

May 25, 2009

I have a question about Select Case. My code (psuedocode) is this
[Select Case name
Case number
name=Remove(num, 1, " ") ]

What this needs to do is to remove spaces at the end of a number and lets say that the number would look like this "C12345" but what I want is for the number to look like this "12345". I have it as a hyperlike but for some reason when at the link in the code it had added some spaces at the end of the number and I do not know why. What I want to have happen is when the hyperlink is click that it will go right to that number but it does not. When you click it you have to go to the top of the page (where the http is at) to to the end of the link and back space. Once you have done that it will go to the page that you want.

VS 2008 : Are Spaces In A Masked Texbox Not Really Spaces

Jan 1, 2010

I just changed a control on a form from a masked textbox to a normal textbox because I wrote my own code to validate the data. I'm trying to clear the leading spaces that were created for this column in an Access database using the LTrim function and it doesn't work for some reason. The column is " :30" in the table and when I LTrim it and save the changes, it's still " :30" , not ":30". Is that leading entry not a space character?

[2005] Removing A Line Of Text From A .txt File?

Feb 23, 2007

I am writing an app that writes notes, inserted by the user, to a txt file. The app saves that notes to a txt file, and when opening it reads the file and shows the already inserted notes. However, I want the user to be able to delete some of those notes...but I can't seem to do it...this is what I have:

VB
Dim file As New FileStream(data_path & "notes.txt", FileMode.Open)
Dim text As String = Nothing
Dim reader As New StreamReader(file)

[Code]....

It goes fine, but the text.Replace(value, "") line doesn't seem to work. I've also tried text.Remove(0) but it doesn't removes the line...it looks like it has no effect.

VS 2005 Removing Resources, Doesn't Reduce The Size Of The .exe?

But when I compile the project, the .exe file still is 17mb, and it won't get any smaller. I've tried to 'Clean Solution',

[2005] Setting ForColor On Text From A Disabled Textbox + Removing The Right Bar

Jan 7, 2009

As some of you are aware of, I am fairly new to VB.NET. I am trying to learn as much as I can. I have a textbox which is set to multiline. It's setup to accept a maximum of 500 characters (10 lines of 50). First of all, since it's size is fixed, how can I remove the right bar on the left as im not using it (the scrolling bar).

#2, once a user click on a button, I disable the textbox and display the text. I can set the background color, however it looks like when the textbox is disabled, text is gray and can't be changed. A fix I found is to use a label and hide the textbox, but are there any easier way ?

Put Some Spaces In String In .Net?

Sep 8, 2010

i have string like

what above code does is gives is "abc def" as output, what i want is "abc--------def" (where hash sign is spaces i need) i have tried

Dim Test as String = "abc----" & "----def"

for some reason (dot)net only takes it as one single space. check above(1) example ,i gave two spaces but it got converted to one space.

Dim Test as String = "abc" & Char(9) & "def"

doesn't work (found char(9) solution on internet)

Dim Test as String = "abc" & space(8) & "def"

doesn't work I have tried another 10 different option but none seems to be working for me.

Automatically Add Necessary Spaces To Comments?

Jul 5, 2010

When I'm writing comments in my code, I often forget to add the initial space after the comment identifier.

'this is a comment

when really it is supposed to be

' this is a comment

I realize this is quite trivial, and you could simply say "just add the damn space you idiot", but I'd really like to automate this so that I just don't have to worry about it. add the comment space?note I do realize that a catch all string replace or regex replace could screw up other things ... IE:

Dim something As String = "I'm a nerd"

would actually come out

Dim something As String = "I' m a nerd"

if it's only on a line by it's self and is not followed by a second single quote... IE: '' would not trigger the replacement.
