My son wants that edition to use the Facebook API on the VB Express website. The API only works with VB 2005. If VB 2005 Express is no longer available, then how about removing the mention of a FaceBook api download or give some serious instructions on how to use it with VB 2008.

If I right click with the mouse on the site and view page source the links are there but for some reason download string is missing them.
VS 2005 : Automating CSV Download Using Webbrowser Control?
Apr 11, 2009I am trying to automate the download of a .CSV file from a password protected website. This file is updated every 15 minutes, but I could get by downloading it 2-3 times a day. I would love to find a way to download this file without any user interaction.
The problem is that there is no direct URL to access the CSV file. There is a webpage with a submit button that initiates the file download. The usual File..Save As Dialog box appears, you click save and then specify the location through the second dialog box.
Looking at the source of the main webpage, I found the form containing the download button, hoping that I could simulate the POST using the HTTPRequest/Response objects, but I couldn't get them to work. The form contains three hidden variables, one of which is called "Key" with a 20 character hexadecimal string. Im assuming this key is regenerated regularly, so this may explain the constant errors I received saying "...press the back button and resubmit the previous page".
Then I decided to try the WebBrowser control. I was able to figure out how to pass the authentication through the URL and the download page appears in the browser control window. Clicking on the download button brings up the same Save As dialog as the main browser window.how to automate this process. I just need to get this csv file (which, by the way is approx 25MB) downloaded so that my scripts can use it to update our site database.

May 20, 2009how can I download files from the Scanner to the PC or Vice Versa. I have spent an entire day trying to figure this problem out. I can exchange anything I want as long as I am connected to the WI-FI, the phone or Blue tooth but I cannot communicate with the PC from the Mobile or the PC to the mobile when the mobile scanner is docked.

Jun 18, 2009I am having trouble openning my vb.net projects in vs2005. What happens when i open one is that i get several windows downloading files from the Appdatalocal emp folder. It says "do you want to open or save this file?. the file name is several random charactors with the tmp extension. do not suggest a virus. The tmp files in question are vs 2005 generated files. they contain html data indicating a problem on the form. If i close all the forms in the tabbed code area, and rebuild the project, then all is well. If i don't build the project, then when i open a form up onto the code area, i get a new download message. Anyone ever heard of this? I suspect IE8 but cannot recall if this all started when i installed IE8 or not.

May 4, 2010I have a piece of hardware that is controlled via USB.There are 8 LEDs on the output byte. One LED per bit.I like to toggle the outputs based on selection of checkboxes and given frequency entered in TextBox.I inserted 8 checkboxes to allow me to select the desired LEDs to be on.I select the checkboxes to select the required LEDs.The checkbox gives me the byte value. XORing the byte value with 255I can see them toggling very fast. I have a while loop to blink forever until I click on stop button.The stop makes the seq=false and this should stop the blinking but it keeps going.How can I insert desired delay of flashing frequency in my output routine?How can I stop on demand to change pattern without exiting the program.

WebClient Timed Out After 10 Minutes?
Mar 22, 2011I run a program with 20 threads getting data from web.
After about 10 minutes I keep getting operation timed out exception.
If I restart the program it works again for 10 minutes.
Looks like there is a memory leak or something.
Some says that webclient uses webrequest object somewhere. I do not see it in watch though.

Timed Event That Displays A Balloon In The System Tray?
May 5, 2010I have a timed event that displays a balloon in the system tray. I would like this icon to remain active for 2 minutes or when the user closes it. When this time expires, the balloon should close and begin a function. I am having 2 problems with this:
1) The baloon icon is limited to between 10 and 30 seconds, when the user is active, so it closes to soon.
2) when the user is not active, the inactive time does not count agenst the timer.

However, users minimize it to the system tray, and leave it idle for hours until using it again.If a user leaves the program idling for about 15 minutes, then goes into the program again to perform a query, it throws a Fatal Error in the mysql, and says 'connection must be valid and open'
The reason is simply because the mysql connection has timed out..I was wondering what the code would be to re-connect to the server IF it has timed out.
