Make Timed Status Messages?

I'm trying to make a simple program that keeps track of a list of phone directories. It offers the option of adding new names to the directory and deleting names already stored.I want the program to display a small unobtrusive message when a name is added or removed.For example, a label that shows "James Potter added to directory..."and then disappears after a few secondsGoing through th file mentions the timer but it seems like an awfully long winded way involving a new control and a new subroutine for every single timed event. I was wondering if there's an easier way, perhaps a single command like:

Alright well i am creating a basic program, it has a login system. When the user clicks login i have timer1.start and then i have a progress bar start to fill, i want to know how to take a label, place it under the progress bar and have it display different text, as in
First message: Validating Login Credentials... (moving ... if possible)
Second message: Verifying System integrity... (moving ... if possible)
Third Message: Connecting to Servers... (moving ... if possible)
Fourth Message: Grabbing user Database... (moving ... if possible)
Fifth message: Login successful!
I want the messages to be in sync with the loading bar, but i also want to try to make my loading bar move slower and when the progress bar is finished and the messages underneath it are aswell i want it to show a new form.

I have in MDI parent this code to close MDIchild:

I want to make a program to encrypt and decrypt messages using a word cipher or random lettering(no duplicate letters) etc.
I've got 2 input boxes:
input text and keyword box
Two Buttons:
encrypt and decrypt

Edit: one thing for sure I want to be able to separate the characters in the keyword into the start of an array (if the array is the best option)
I don't necessarily need code, I just need some advisement on how to approach this with commands. I don't know too many commands (only remember some fortran)

I have a datagridview with 3 columns 1-ID, 2-CategoriesName, and 3-Select

I want to use a database table as a a queue...but the processing of these messages cannot be done from the database.I have a table that stores the requests i get from a .Net component. I now have to read the data from these tables and make http calls to 2 webservices. Based on the response received from the webservices, the data gets archived or deleted.I had a few specific questions:
1. How do i make sure that if i pick a record for processing and the http call fails I should be able to go on to the next record, and then come back to this record at the end of the run
2. Is there an alternative to using the database as a queue(like MSMQ etc.), which option is better
3. I want to maintain an audit trail of the record status. Is creating a trigger to log the changes before the edit the best way to do it?

I want my application to be able to communicate 2-way between the application on another computer and the host server which will be running on my computer.I want to use the BackgroundWorker built into vb to create a thing to make it listen for incoming messages, and also send out messages to the client.The client needs to listen and receive, same as the server, because both need to communicate with one another.I do not know how I can make it do either sending nor receiving.I would be using two different background workers to keep the code seperated and organized so that I will understand what code is for what.
I want the code to say that if i receive the message "Apple" without the "" and cap sensitive, then it will change Label1.Text = "That worked, word received Apple" or something similar to that. ( This is because I am ignorant and I want it to interpret the text sent through to figure out what the application is supposed to do, and last time I couldn't figure out how to make it do something when a certain text was received.

I am using an httpWebRequest in my windows app to download files from a webserver (sURL), to a local folder (fileDestination) as such:

I have a piece of hardware that is controlled via USB.There are 8 LEDs on the output byte. One LED per bit.I like to toggle the outputs based on selection of checkboxes and given frequency entered in TextBox.I inserted 8 checkboxes to allow me to select the desired LEDs to be on.I select the checkboxes to select the required LEDs.The checkbox gives me the byte value. XORing the byte value with 255I can see them toggling very fast. I have a while loop to blink forever until I click on stop button.The stop makes the seq=false and this should stop the blinking but it keeps going.How can I insert desired delay of flashing frequency in my output routine?How can I stop on demand to change pattern without exiting the program.

I run a program with 20 threads getting data from web.
After about 10 minutes I keep getting operation timed out exception.
If I restart the program it works again for 10 minutes.
Looks like there is a memory leak or something.
Some says that webclient uses webrequest object somewhere. I do not see it in watch though.

I am trying to add functionality to automatically click the receive button if the Form1 is loaded.Even when i did not attach it to the timer the bCheckmail.PerformClick() did not work - Ideally this application will be loaded and check mail every 15 min.

Details : I have the MultiModem (MT5656ZDX) . I wrote visual basic application for making the call using 'MakeCallAsynch(txtPhoneNumber.Text)' function. Also i have the callback event handler for get the line status and write the log. But my tapi call is not going the status except DAILING,PROCEDING,CONNECTED,DISCONNECTED and IDLE. Its not showing the line busy, phone swithed off status. Please guide me regarding this.

I am working on a program to turn on devices at times of day and days of week. I am designing it for 15 devices and each device has a file. The problem I have is monitoring all 15 files. I can monitor each one and it works for that device, but only the device file I have called. I used data binding to create the files and can display the files one at a time, but I need to monitor the info on all 15 files actively.
