I have created a login form that asks the user for the username and password fr authentication.Inspite of storing the username and the password in a database,can we store the same in a xml file and retrieve the data at the authentication time from the xml file?Is there any advantage/disadvantage of using the xml file in this particular case rather than using a database to store the username and the password?

An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file \CATV-ANTIVIRUSdataCLINICA_Data.mdf failed. a database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share. i need the datasource to start creating datareports but i don't know how to resolve this problem before.
I have many applications that create TLB files which I guess are so that vb2005 can comunicate with the DLL files. Now what I would like to do is have all my TLB files in one folder and have my application point to that folder to use them.The problem I am having is that my EXE will not run unless all the TLB files are in the same folder as the EXE. I do not want this. I want to put some code into my file that sais that the tlb files it needs are located in say: [code] and still have it work. again right now they all have to be in the same folder which is really bugging me.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to import a bunch of excel 2003 files all with A:H columns and they are under the same headings etc. into a table in access 2003 database. This is a module in access im making. Im using a file search to look for every file that begins with Format (which they all do ) to get at all the files in the folder path. is there a more efficient way to do this? somehow select all files in a folder? and import each to the same table in access? The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet seeems to take each file path individually so I'm not sure how to get each file name in the folder to import it.

I have multiple file upload boxes on a form in my mvc3 application. Request.Files shows 3 files when I put a break point in the below function and look at it.. Problem is other than coding a counter and using a select case I dont see a way to handle saving each file name to the database column it belongs to... Is there away to assign the variable on the fly I guess you could say So that the foreach loop would drop the file in the correct column. Ie handoutFile1, handoutFile2 , handoutFile3, Etc. As it stands the below will overwrite the filename in handoutfile1 every time the loop is gone through. I thought about throwing a counter in the loop and just put a select case on it to assign the db column based on the counter number. Seems like a cheap work around though. [Code]

Now i want to make a setup of this project but i am unable to integrate sqldatabase and .net framework in this setup project. Is there any way to do this. Because it is assumed that the client does not have .NET Framework installed nor he has SQL Server on his system and the worst condition would be he does not have even internet connection from where these two setups can be downloaded if we give the condition for downloading these programs from the net if the client does not have these programs installed on his machine.

I recently upgraded the MS SQL Server installed on my personal computer from 2005 Express to 2008 Express. Problem is when I try to add an SQL database file to a project using VS 2005 I get an error message saying that the version of my database server is not supported, I must have SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later installed. I didn't do it yet but I'm pretty sure that when I open the other projects that I included a database file to it, I'm going to get the same error.
My question is it possible to have two SQL Servers installed on my machine? If so, is it a good idea to have two DB servers in the same machine?
Ive created one database Sql Server Compact Edition 2005, with one table ("Cliente") I know that I can created my database good, but i have a problem saving information since three textbox, in my table(With columns "Nombre" "Apellido" "Cliente". In my form there is a button save ("Guardar"). When I do click in my button appear the next message : "The column cannot contain null values. [ Column name = Nombre,Table name = Cliente ] " and happen the same with apellido and Id_Cliente. And this happen becouse my code cant save the information....

before re-inventing the wheel, i want to ask you how i can do this best: I have a VB.Net application that uses a database connection to MS SQL Server 2005 (express version). There are users that input data with the application into the database lets say once to 2x an hour to once a minute. I want to do backups like this: Once a day or once a week (in the evening) a full backup, and whenever the program/user is idle for lets say 10 Minutes, i want to do an incremental backup (so that it does not take so long until he can work on after the backup).
There are no big security issues, just copying the backup data files to a network share / a different computer or server would be fine. i guess the average db size may be 300MB, but the daily increments about 1MB.

I am making a window based application in vb.net. Now i have work in two sql databases, so i when the window opens it will show two databases..when i select first db then i can work in that particular db only..if select 2nd db then i can work in second db only..how to do that?
View 1 RepliesI've been working on my school project and whenever I add new components to the GUI or change the code and save ALL files, it still debugs my forms without the new components or code. I even added a new button to see if it shows up when I debug and the button doesn't even show up. I also deleted a form from my project but it still shows it when I debug... If anybody knows how to fix this problem please let me know! I also restarted my computer many times and I don't know if this is an issue but I'm running windows on a MAC. I've had no problems with this in the passed and I've been using this computer for a couple of months now.

It should start once I double click it.I created a setup project (using Setup and Deployment wizard) and publish it on the server, it does not work. I'm experiencing a wierd problem deleting some .csv files. Any .csv files named 1.csv, 2.csv, or 3.csv will not delete using delete() method of system.io namespace. if i do any number greater than 3 it works. For example, 4.csv, 5.csv, etc. works fine. 1.xls, 2.xls also is ok. The error it is throwing in my log is 'access to the file is denied.' Nothing is using the file. I even copied a new file into the directory and it does not work. I even created a 1.csv in a totally different directory with no luck. What is going on with this? Has anyone ever experienced this?
