I have kind of a wierd situation: To start out, I have a list of strings. Then the user will give input and add list items. I have this^ part done. What I need to do now is the following: There are two buttons; button1 and button2 There is also something else that I still need to decide on (maybe a dropdown menu) I want button1.click to show openfiledialogue1, the user will pick a text file from their computer (I also need to know how to make the only file they can select text files) and then save the file's text to a string. The text will be made up of multiple lines of an unknown number.

I'm trying to copy an array starting at a specific based on the number of variables I have. I have the program give me the number of variables. What I need is to copy the original array, UnsortedArray, start at the index of var + 1. I have tried the Array.Copy and Array.CopyTo, but I get the error that my new array, UnsortedNumArray, is used before it has a value.I know I've mostly overlooked something. there's a list-box with items, and say you want to modify an item in the middle of the list. You select that item and click "Modify" button and a new form appears with the previously selected item data from first form ready to be modified in a text-box. After modifying and clicking Ok the second form suppose to return that modified string to the first form and insert the modified string into the same spot instead of the originally selected item, so it looks like it was edited to the user.

I am trying to write this program that logs into this website. Now I figured out how to make the http "POST" request to the specific spot on the page which returns a "Successfully logged in" afterwards but once I make a request to another part of the page, it asks me to login (I look at the source code). I have been messing with Fiddler and I compared the a POST from my webbrowser to a POST from my program. I found the following lines to be in my browser POST and not in my program post:

I am assuming this has something to do with the cookie that I am suppose to get to be able to tell the website that I am logged in. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. I dont use XMLHTTPREQUEST in my program. I found it earlier on the msdn website but now I cant find a reference to it.I am also not good with term names and I just started learning VB and don't know much about cookies/HTTP requests and such, but that is why I am trying to learn.

I'm using the replace function for a program and I need to know how to do something like if a word has certain characters around it then it replaces it, so how can I do this?like "U" & sometext & "U" = other text.'m having a hard time explaining this, but if you replace sometext with whatever text is in between the U's then that's what I want to replace.

Hi, i'm trying to use the treeview to display the text of a rtf (rich text file) file when an specific node if clicked.HomeOMGWOOTFor example, if i pick OMG, i want the text of lol.rtf to be displayed on a richtextbox. But somehow i just can't manage to get it... I know to import the text of a .txt file to a textbox, but using the treeview makes it more complicated.This is the code im using right now:

i've been busy with a program and it has worked out quite well. The only thing I still want is that it is possible to customize things and save that in a text file. Normally if i want an other background for one day, i need to change it in VB or make a checkbox to do that. if i then restart the program all the settings are lost and i have to set it again. so i was wondering if the program can make a text file and put codes like 1 for theme 1 and 2 for theme 2 etc. in it, then save it and load that file when it starts up again. and is this also possible for a login form? if yes, i can also add a "Create Account" button for my program instead of adding codes in VB.

I am trying to read from a file that was created with a stream writer the names line from the text file that contains data for name, phone number, pager number, cell number, voice mail, and email.What I need to do is read and load the names from the file into a list box, and then from the list box be able to choose each name and have the information (phone, pager, cell, etc.) show up in text boxes that goes with the specific name.

how could I get the text of a specific cell in a DataGridView control ? If it matters , in my case , all the cells contain strings or nothing . For example , in order to get the text from the cell on row 2 and column 3 , what code do I have to use ? I have tried the Value property but seems that's not it . I'm trying to write a program that will take emails that I have saved from outlook as text files and scan it for specific data, and return those strings to a textbox (i will modify it so it outputs the exact way i need it, i just need to grab that info faster than it takes by hand). I dont know how to go about actually grabbing that specific data.

There can be only one grouping (denoted with asterisks, they are separated in the emails like that as well), or 50 and any number in between. I only need the information as shown in the text file example above (sometimes, it is blank or not there - if that's the case just skip and messagebox.show to alert me that it was skipped).

I am trying to write a small application that simply monitors my web site watching for specific hyperlink text to appear. I have been searching around and trying different approaches for a few days and have to accept defeat on this.Basically I need to be able to type in part of a hyperlink or the actual text of the hyperlink into a textbox to be watched for. I wonder if it is possible to find a specific row and specific columns in data base file (Access) . You see , I am using a DataGridView control to show only SOME of the columns (fields) of a table from an Access file . For example , lets say that in the DataGridView control I only show the following fields :Field1 , Field2 and Field3 .Now , when the user selects an entry in the DataGridView control , I want to insert the text from Field4 into a text box on the form .
The problem , however , is that I don't know how to get the specific row in the data base file and also I don't know how to get the text in column (field) Field4 of that row .One thing that might be important is that the index of the row in the data base file is not necessarily the same with the index of the current row in the DataGridView control . This is because in the DataGridView control the rows are order by the contents in the ID Field .ol .
