I'm writing a program that notifies the user when process X.exe starts eceives a new TCP connection.
Is the only way to issue a full 'netstat' and then select the entries relating to that specific application or is there a better way?
Im making a small servermanager for a game. I have a list of players with their IP's that are currently connected to the the whole game. I want to find out what IP's are connected to a certain process so I can match these with the list of players and then add the players that are in the server hosted by this servermanager, into the playerlist.Adding players to that list and looking them up for a matching IP already works. I just cant figure out how to find all the IP's that are connected to a certain process.

In my VB.NET 2005 windows winforms application, I use process.start (filename)to open a Word 2007 document.On some computers, the document opens in Internet Explorer instead of Word.These computers have Word 2007 installed.If I double-click a .docx document in Windows Explorer, it opens in Word 2007, not IE, this only happens with process.start.I already tried unchecking the "Browse in same window" checkbox in Folder Options - File Types - Advanced..How can I make the document open in Word 2007, not IE?

I have a small application in which I need to show alerts if a particular condition is met. I have an mdi form and several child forms. Now the best way to show an alert is to show a tooltip on the right side corner of my mdi form. Though this works, but the problem is I want user to close the tooltip once he has read. Now the tooltip that vb.net provide does not support click events. If I give a long time duration the tooltip would be open all the time and if I give a short duration then it will close quickly. What can I do ?

I can write the app and I can link it to SQL over the network. I also know how to dynamically change the connection string so I can handle online/offline data source connections. Where the data can be stored on the local client? I'd like the data to be held in the central SQL DB and to automatically copy to the laptop upon connection to the network. The client data source is read-only and will not upload back to SQL. I've seen XML mentioned but that looks overly complex.

View 6 RepliesI have been developing an async socket connection server and client program. I have been testing it, and noticed that if I connect to the server from my client and then disconnect. Upon reconnecting I am on a different port(local IP still). This is fine, however when I go to send a message, and the server trys to update all the clients, it eventually hits clients that do not exist anymore. I get the SocketException 10054, and upon connecting/disconnecting enough, it no longer works at all. My question is how do I clear out these no longer useful sockets from the server? I am doing currentsocket.Shutdown(SocketShutDown.Both); and then a currentsocket.Close(); after that. When a user disconnects.

My question maybe not be very clear, but I just want to know how this process is called or references needed to create something similar, so I can investigate on my own ( but if you have code is welcome.Basically I have 2 desktop programs ( A and B). For A, I do not have the source code, for B I do.What I need is to create some service/program that after a screen pops up from program A, automatically runs B. IN other words, capture the moment a specific screen is shown in A and execute B.
My real life scenario is that I have a very basic POS where I can't collect customer demographics ( zip code, etc), so I created a second application to capture that but my cashiers are always forgetting to run the program and I need to find a way to run it after a screen is shown ( let's say the "Change Due" in the POS, so they don't forget to run it.
I have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).
