VS 2008 Arrays And Loops - Computing Average Monthly Rainfall

I need to create an console application that computes the average monthly rainfall, number of months with above average rainfall, and the number of months with below average rainfall, given the rainfall amounts for each month in a particular year. The program must read in and store in an array the monthly rainfall amounts entered by the user one by one.
So far this is what I have got
Const intMonths As Integer = 11 'Constant Month variable
Dim sngRainfall(intMonths) As Single 'Rain for the month
Dim intCount As Integer ' Loop Counter
Dim sngTotalRainfall, sngAvgRainfall As Single 'Total and Average Rainfall

How to set this up properly and I am having a real hard time figuring out how to make the data go from this loop to another and add the data to the total.

I've had experience with using hashvalues from String objects. E.g., if I have StringA and StringB both equal to "foo", they'll both compute out the same hashvalue, because they're set to equal values. Now what if I have a List, with T being a native data type. If I tried to compute the hashvalue of ListA and ListB, assuming that they'd both be the same size and contain the same information, wouldn't they have equal hashvalues as well?
Assuming as sample dataset of 'byte' with a length of 5

I have 5 arrays named array1 array2 array3 array4 array5. Each array has 5 elements. I want to access each element in each loop via a for next loop the pseudo code would be something like this.
for i = 1 to 5 / this loop calls the individual arrays
for j = 0 to 4/ this loop calls the elements in each array
array (i,j) /do some action on the element here
next j
next i
But as it stands, there is no array called simply array, and I can't figure out how to append the i counter to the word array and thus achieve what I want.
The alternative is to have 5 separate loops, one for each array but I feel sure there must be a better way.

I'm trying to create two arrays filled with a set of strings from two tables in a database and then compare them. For example:
array1[0]="1101" and
array2[0]="0110"
If both respective characters equals 1 then perform an action. But when I run this code I receive the error: Index was outside the bounds of the array. System.IndexOutOfRangeException.
For some reason I believe the problem area is with the following two statements:
comparestringa = userintarray(x) and
comparestringb = eventintarray(x)
When I comment them out, the error doesn't show.

So I am writing a program that uses ArrayA(10) and ArrayB(10) and uses Do loops to output the sum of ArrayA(1) + ArrayB(1) in one column then the difference in the next column, then the product in the next column, then the quotient in column 4 of a Matrix(10, 4) in a listbox. And continues doing this until there are 10 rows of 4 columns. I was wondering for tips on how I can get this done.

I am trying to write a code using VB 2008 (console) thats ask's the user to enetr the rainfall for the month. At the end of the year it will give him the average, total, highest, and lowest rainfall for the year. So I'm in the final stages of finishing a program I've been working on for nearly a year now, and this is basically my final hurdle. The Save dialogue is working beautifully, with 'flags' in order to switch it over from the regular input into text boxes to the Listbox input protocol.
However, I'm having a *** of a time getting it to take lines from the text file and put them in the proper text box. Here is an example file:

So with the sample file I provided above, in the textbox named callNameText would appear "SHOWNAME", and so on and so forth. With this build, I get a NullReferenceException on the "Me.Controls(strboxNames(i)).Text() = strAllText(ati)" line.

I'm working on a function to return a exponential average and there are a lot of examples of exponential moving averages but they all start with a moving average that is just the mean as a lead in to calculating the continuing moving average. I needed just a exponential average of a value set. After Googling my Bing off I still haven't seen anything so here is my attempt at a basic exponential average. Is this correct? Are there any errors? I have seen some text about adding a smoothing value to change the curve of the exponential average but not how that would be implemented.

I'm in a computer science class, and we are writing simple programs using Visual Basic 2008. I am really inept when it comes to this, as I have never done it before. When I use a For loop in a For loop the Contains Statement dosen't work! Even my custom one! I even tested mine and it works 100% And neither that or the String.Contains function work inside of For Loops And, I know both of them use loops to search through a string.

Here is my problem. I'm not sure I am doing this correctly but I have two arrays [ strMonths(0) = "January"] etc. for each month and another one that receives input from the user concerning the amount of rainfall for a month. [decRainfall(0) = CDec(strMonths(0))] etc. for each subscript
The app. returns total rainfall for the year, average rainfall, maximum rainfall and minimum rainfall.The max. and min. should return the number that was input by the user and the month associated with that max. and min.I have everything working except for the month string being displayed (returned) after the max., min. number in the labels.

I've had no issues with this in C++, however, in Visual Basic 2008 (not sure about 2010), when I run a Do loop of any type, and run a comparison to 0, or even 0.0, the code loops a second time.

To my knowledge it should cancel after the 5th line, since the condition is satisfied. However it does not. Instead it runs the loop one last time.If I put in a comparison of any number higher or lower than 0, it works as it should, and cancels properly when the 5th line is written. So 1, -3, 0.0001, etc. works, so the problem lies with 0.
Now I do not know that much about the debugger, but it should be mentioned I'm running express edition, and I could not find anything that lets me see how each line compares. Nor, after an hour of searching online, could I find a single forum where this is answered (though perhaps that is due to how I worded my search).
If someone could explain to me why the comparison does not work as it should and loops a second time when comparing to 0, or even 0.0 (one person thought it was a difference in balance being double and 0 being an integer),

I have a piece of my code that uses a for each to loop a certain amount of times depending on how many saved fields there are in an xml.

I want to write two nested loops and inside them "two if statements" when I write an Else statement which has a messagebox saying that ID is not found.. it repeated many times depending on the for loops. I only want to be displayed once !!! but when I wrote my code like this (using exit sub), the message appears when the condition is right and appears when the condition is wrong. I'm having a little trouble with this assignment for my 1341 Fundamentals class... Add another TextBox and Button to your program window; label the TextBox side: and change the Text of the Button to Print hollow box. Write code to clear the ListBox and then print a hollow square box of asterisks with sides of length equal to the input number. For example, if the number entered is 10, the output should look like

You may want to use a For loop inside a For loop. Use a string to build each line of output before you send it to the ListBox. Your program should produce correct output even if the input is 0 or 1. Be sure to catch all exceptions and handle them intelligently. After this step, your program window should look like this.
NOTE: I had some trouble getting the desired output for the 10 and 4 user inputs to print out right... Rather than there being 2 rows next to each other, they should be spread apart by the number of asterisks on the top (and bottom...) thus creating the "asterisk square".
