VS 2008 Bound DataRepeater With Unbound CheckBox Control?

Mar 28, 2011

I'm seriously about to abandon this DataRepeater. I don't want to. I want greater design control than the DataGridView. I've played with various Events for days and have settled on the CheckBox.CheckChanged Event.

What I'm trying to accomplish: My Bound DataRepeater has an UnBound CheckBox in each DataRepeaterItem. When the user 'Checks' the CheckBox, I want to change the value of a NumericUpDown Control to the value of a hidden, Bound Label.

[Code]...

This causes other, seemingly random, DataRepeaterItems (Rows) to also become Checked and thus it's NumericUpDown value to change.Am I going about this from the wrong angle? Can't see the forest for the trees?

Forms :: Using CheckBox As Control In DataRepeater Object

Aug 31, 2011

I have a checkbox as a control in a datarepeater object. I have an event handler function which handles the checkchanged event for this checkbox and sets the visibility of other fields based on it. However, the problem I am having is that the event handler function is getting fired when I set the datasource for the datarepeater - hence when the data is being populated. So the event handler function ends up trying to set the visibility of a field that has not been created yet and bombs out with a NullReferenceException error. Is there a way to stop this event handler being fired when the datarepeater is being populated? I only want this function to be called if that checkbox is changed by the user after the form has loaded.

Use A Checkbox To Add Data To Its Own Item In Datarepeater Control?

I am using the Datarepeater control to make a report. I am including the a couple of bound labels and a checkbox in the Datarepeater item template. When I run the report and multiple items come up, I'd like to use the checkbox and clear the items by resetting there values to NOTHING. When I check the checkbox for the item, how do I code it so row.text=nothing only applies to the row that the checkbox is on?

DataRepeater - Set Checkbox State?

Apr 13, 2010

im trying to figure out how on earth to set a checkbox on a DataRepeater row to true. Nothing ive tried seems to work. Ive searched all over, and all i seem to find is ways to check the state and in ASP.

Text boxes would be:DataRepeater1.CurrentItem.Controls(

"textbox1").Text = textbox2.Text.However, checkboxes wont work in this way. DataRepeater1.CurrentItem.Controls("Checkbox1").Checked = True"Checked is not a member of windows.forms.control" - ive tried various things in order to set it to true/false, but whatever i do doesent work. I expect its going to be something stupidly simple, but its those things that annoy the most IMO!

Populate An Unbound Column In Bound Datagridview Using .net?

Jun 13, 2012

I am populating a datagridview from a datatable and that is working fine. I wish to add some calculated columns from data in the datatable. At first, I did this by adding these to the table, but that makes it difficult to update the Access database. These lines are commented out.Right now, AWt and DOF are not working. The values are there when I step through (lines 85-87), but the values are not put in the grid. The value of NWt is placed in the grid as it should be.Lines 236 through 254 set up the new unbound columns. 85-87 should populate them.

Dim PurTab As New DataTable

I have seen multiple examples on google and on these forums about how to do this. It seems there are two approaches:

1 - Add the column directly to the DGV and populate it

2 - Add the column to the underlying dataset

Add An Unbound Checkbox To A Datagrid In .net 2003?

Apr 9, 2010

I'm writing an Windows Form Application and need to add an unbound checkbox to a datagrid. The datagrid displays the fields of an Access 2007 table and I need the checkbox to give the user the option to select/deselect any of the records shown in the datagrid. After the user clicks on a button, the application must read the whole datagrid to detect what records were chosen by the user and process each one accordingly.I tried using TableStyles but as this new column is not part of the database, it won't work.

DB/Reporting :: Displaying DataGridView Text Column In A Mixed Bound/Unbound DataGridView?

Mar 15, 2011

I have a DataGridView (dgv) on a Windows form (VB.NET) which is bound to a datatable. One of the bound columns is a an ID (Foreign Key) to another datatable. All I want to do is Hide the ID column and populate an unbound column with the Name (ParmName) for the user. I searched the foreign value in the datatable and retrieved the information. I set the Value of the cell in the Datarow. All works well, but does not display. The cell accepts the value...I can even Debug.Print the values to the console. They are there just nothing displaying in DataGridView. Nothing odd about DataGridView. Should be straight forward...

Getting Value Of A Control On Datarepeater

Is it possible to get value of a text box, say at row 4 of a datarepeater. I did it by moving control to it, but that does not work the way I want. I used code DataRepeater1.currentIndex=5, and then picked the value. Is there any possibility of getting the value without moving control to this row. I mean the way we get value from datagridview (vrName=datagridview1.item(1,1).value)

How To Update A Database With The Value Of A Bound Checkbox

Apr 30, 2011

On a Windows form I have a checkbox bound to a datatable. In the CheckedChanged event I do .EndEdit on the bindingsource and then .Update on the tableadapter. At runtime this gives an error: "Data Table internal index is corrupted: '5'.

If I change to the Validated event, there is no error, but the new state is not sent to the data base untill focus is subsequently lost, which is a problem. So how am I supposed to get the new state of the checkbox written to the database when the checkbox state changes?

Virtual Mode In DataRepeater Control / How To Update Data Changes

Feb 25, 2011

How do i make sure that the changes "done" by a user interacting with a DataRepeater control are reflected in the corresponding database source table? I have used DataRepeater in VirtualMode, do I have to supply my own code that will "actually" make corresponding changes to the actual tables, or is there a way of "configuring" or "binding" the controls on the DataRepeater to the "dataSet" so that the changes made by the user are reflected automatically in the underlying table? Whatever I have tried so far has yielded no results; whenever i edit the data on the control, the actual data is not updated. I attach a file showing the only events under which i have put some code: Load event of the Windows form, and the ItemValueNeeded event of the Repeater Control.

Show Bit Column As A Checkbox Column In Unbound Datagridview

May 14, 2010

Dim Comp = From C In db.Table1 _
Select C.Completed, C.Taken, C.Namne
Datagridview1.DataSource = Comp

Am using the Entity Framework and Columns Completed and Taken are of bit Datatype. When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values.

I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound.

how can i change this in code at runtime

Add A Summary Row To An Unbound Datagridview Control?

Sep 7, 2011

I have an unbound datagrid control I am using to store inspection information. The program records the information from the user, validates the values, and saves it into a database. It will then show the last inspection data in the datagridview. The user has the option of doublclicking a row and changing values and resaving the row. The number of rows per piece inspected varies, so that is why I used the grid to show the inspection data, however, they want to see a running total of each inspection point at the bottom of the grid so when they add the new values, it will update the running totals. I can see how to add a new column for a running total, but the layout requires the sums to be in the last row of the grid. I can add the row to the grid, but I need to make sure it stays at the bottom of the grid when I add a new row, and if possible freeze the row so it is always visible like excel. The program we are re-writting is excel based so this functionality is critical for the inspector to see the running totals for each inspection point.

VS 2008 - CheckGroup Code - Regular Groupbox Overlapped The Checkbox Control

Dec 4, 2010

I'm using a CheckGroup in a project found here. There were several things in the code that needed fixing to really be useful to me:The fact that the panel in the regular groupbox overlapped the checkbox control so that the bottom of some letters were being cut off. When changing the back color of the groupbox, it didn't change the back color of the checkbox. Fixing these two problems was easy, but fixing the second one led to a new problem. When changing the backcolor of the groupbox to Transparent, it also changes the backcolor of the checkbox to Transparent, thus displaying the text for both the checkbox and the groupbox's header.
