VS 2008 Change Event Of Button Created Through Code
Jan 30, 2010
I have this code to create a new button
Dim NewButton As New Button
frmDownload.Controls.Add(NewButton )
This works. But I want to change what happens upon clicking NewButton. It should start an application. I tried NewButton.Click but that event doesn't exist.
I have a website where the user requires to add and remove Headlines from the main page. The headlines are stored in a database with a column titled 'Display' (true or false) which decides if the headlines appear. I want the user to have the ability to add or remove headlines from the main page, so have created another page which creates a table of all headlines along with a drop down list containing 'Enable' and 'disable'. I want these drop down lists to work by when the user changes the value in the drop down list the database will be updated. Only I cant find how to give the drop down lists an on change event.
I created a button in DatarGrid. Now I want to click that button and only when I click the button should the event be fired. Actually I want to Delete that particular row once the button is clicked. However, when I click the button, the Event: CellContentClick of the DataGrid gets fired. And that means if you click anywhere on the Datagrid, that even will be fired, and that makes no sense to put a Delete button. So I want to keep the Delete button and once the Delete button event gets fired, the record gets deleted.
I made a UserControl with a button on it. I then added that UC to a form by dragging from the toolbox. Now I want to be able to access the click event of the button on that UC control in the form code. How do I do that?
I'm writting a program that will output the column headings of the database onto a form in a label along with a text box for the user to input their own information and a button to add a new record in the database. My problem is I do not know how to refer to the text boxes or how to call the click event from the button that was created at runtime.
In ASP.NET using VB.NET, you can define the wired up button click event (to an ASP.NET server control) in 2 different ways (for the purpose of this conversation - manually wiring up via button property not in question here):
Double click on the button in the designer which produces an event in the code behind with a Protected method. In the code behind, select the button from the list of controls, and then select it's 'Click' event. This produces a Private method.I understand the difference between Private and Protected; why based on how the wired up event is autocreated it generates a different Access Level on the method?
I have created 3 arrays of buttons for a form which manipulates the value in a combo box or 2 by the name of the button ( buttons named 2 through to about 70 )
This works great but the problem is, now that the buttons are in, I want to be able to change the color of the buttons when another button is clicked
ie. The first bunch of buttons is a list of locations all with unique text.the second bunch of buttons is events that happen, sign on, sign off, beach open and beach closed.
What i want to be able to do is change the color of the button clicked "before" i click sign on, sign off, beach open or beach closed.
I do not know how to reference these buttons in my code as for starters, they are numbers, which is a big no no apparently. Also, even if i change the name from just a number to something like cmdBeach(i) when creating them, i still can't refer back to cmdBeach5 in my code as the button doesn't exist yet
I have created a class which generates a form in code. I have hooked up the buttons and a text box so that they work. Now, I am trying to hook up the Resize event (and probably will need other events) for this form. How do I do that? If I can understand how to do it for the Resize event, I should be able to apply that to whatever other events I might want to use. I can't just put "Handles frmMyForm.Resize" or "Handles Me.Resize". I get the message "Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types." This all has been a learning experience.
I have never programmed anything in my life -- and I'm learning VB from a tutorial which I found here:[URL]...So I've created my button and added the code. Then it says:
"Now run your first application!"I have no idea how to do that!
I create many buttons in code like : Public Sub GenereTextBox(ByVal rep As String) Dim txt As New TextBox Dim fnt As Font fnt = Me.Font txt.Location = New Drawing.Point(26 + NbreCacher * (68), txtOrdonnee) [Code] ..... And I want delete some buttons create when I click on my button, but I don't how I can do, because these buttons are create in code??
I created a listbox and button in my application using vb code. When the user select an item in the listbox and click on the remove button, the item will be removed from the listbox. I know how to remove the item in the listbox, but I don't know what coding to add to activate the click event on the button.
I have a form that I am adding a set of buttons to. I am adding an event to those buttons. I need this event to function slightly to determine what button was pressed.
I need the button to simply set a string variable equal to the clicked buttons text so I can determine what button was pressed.
How can this be accomplished?
''Adding the buttons'' For Each dr In dtMenus Dim strMenuName As String strMenuName = dr.Item("strMenuName").ToString
I believe there wont be any diff if user clicks the button on the form and the click event is fired OR if we call the button click event / function in the code. Because in one my project, this does make diff. If I click the button on the form, the App works great but same button if I click it thru the form code, the whole process crashes. This happens in Vista / VB.net.
i have line like this 1.0 30 Blue (2 17.00 54.0) [2 16.03 52.0] 55611 30275 58571 23514 so i want to check after the Value Blue is that "(" or "[" in side my radio button checked change event.
in RadioButton1_CheckedChanged if the value is "( " the message box should come out and say "The file is already in PPin to Probe pattern" else if the value is "[" then there will be nothing to display.
this is my code Private Sub RadioButton1_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles RadioButton1.CheckedChanged Dim FileContents() As String = IO.File.ReadAllLines("C:\match1.txt")
I can't change the cursor when it's a ToolStripButton.click event.I got 2 buttons that call "Rechercher".
EDITED : Only the Button is working. It seems that the ToolStripButton cancel my cursor...

how do i change the property of a created object in the timer event? In other words i have a button that creates a panel for me, in a time event i want to change the created panels to a different backcolor, how would i do this?
Something like in the image.I know that <Description("blah blah blah")>_ gives the description, but when the user is in the designer tab, I would like to know how to add that info when intellisense pops up.
I have a user control as Binding Navigator control and it has navigation buttons, one of them is Cannel.I put the control in the form every thing works fine, but the problem is the priority of the sequence that the code performs for example:In the Cancel Click event there are some code inside the control it self, and in the form which hold the control I also put some code it goes fine but it first perform the code in the form and then it perform the code in the control. My question is there a way to tell the click event to perform the code inside the control first and then the code inside the holding form, (priority sequence)

I have a button click handler that is coded. I typed in a new line of code without any errors, but the new line of code does not execute. To troubleshoot, I tried to add a simple message box, commented out the code, and deleted the entire code. With everything I try, even deleting the code, the original code exectutes at run time. I can't find any other instance of the code anywhere else in the application. Other events update normally.
I gather the code is either not updated upon build/compile, or this bit of code is stored somewhere.
In the example from my book, I'm coding a button click event, and adding the code..."me.width=me.width + 20"The author states that "me refers to the object to which the code belongs(in this case the form)".
But this isn't exactly accurate, is it? The "code belongs" to the button object -- not the form object, right? So, I'm guessing that what the author really should have said is that "me refers to what ever form you're working on". Would that be true?
