Creating A Timer Form A Internet Cafe?
Feb 15, 2012im trying to do is countdown timer.already done with the start time and stop time but when it comes to the pause time and resume cant seem to make it work, what i did was put on the event click on my pause button was add a timer1.enabled = false and on the resume button timer1.enabled true, it does it job pausing the running time, but when i resume for example, i pause at a time of 05:30 for 9 seconds then resume the timer resumes at 5:21, (im making a countdown timer here) ,what i want to happen is that, when i resume, it will resume from 5:31 then continue counting down to 5:30,5:29 .

I'm kind of lost on where I need to start with the interface. Feb 2, 2009I'm making an application that tracks jobs we log in our IT department and as I'm often out and about it would be handy to be able to use this app from my laptop and connect in to our server at our office. The problem is that a lot of the places I go block all outboundtraffic apart from port 80 and 443 (for HTTP and HTTPS). Now I know I could write an ASP.NET front end that I could just access over the internet but to be honest I just plain dont like making ASP.NET web pages and so if there is any way I could do this just through my standard desktop app that would be good.
I've heard a bit about "web services" and to me this sounds like a solution but I dont know enough about them to decide if I should use one or not.The main thing that will decide this is whether or not I can make this web service listen on port 80, is that possible?Also, is it hard work making something use HTTPS instead of HTTP so that the data is encrypted? I mean, do you have to do all of the encrypting yourself or is there some sort of automatic function you can use to handle this?
.net - Creating A Program That Runs As A Service And Submits A State To A Database (over The Internet)?
Dec 2, 2011What I am looking to do is write a VB.NET program, as a service that reports anything on client1 that I want (say the fact it is online) to a database on the internet, so I can look on management1 and see the online status of the machine (assuming management1 has a connection to the online database).
What is being reported doesn't matter, what I am looking at is a starting point to create a system like that. I have googled obviously and come up with nothing, I'd just like a "starting point" or some documentation to look at for creating something like this. The service doesn't look too difficult but the periodic reporting of online status or ANYTHING to any kind of database is not something I am sure how to deal with.
I already have setup a VBS that reports information to an ASP script that then places it in a database but I don't know how I would create say a "keep alive" connection for a vb.net service.

Apr 20, 2009able to open and utilize a single serial port within with my VB 2008 program (i.e., set port parameters, open&close port, send&receive data via port, etc.), but I want to open two or more serial ports concurrently within my VB 2008 program so that I can read data from one port, say COM1, make decisions and calculations based on that data, and send instructions out through another port, say COM2.

In the beginning me and my partner have been trying to hit this at the internal angle. only problem is different html tables are constructed different than others. We are needing to extract from multiple pages and sites so we know that Regex will be the best solution. We can use the same script for everything. This is my first time working with Regex, I got it actually extracting the very first ip[proxy]. I have no idea why it isn't extracting every one on the page. I also have to add the . in between each each octave of the ip. That is weird because I have it in the Regexpession to find the .'s.What I'm Needing is for this to basically scan the whole page and grab all the ipsorts and add them to a listbox.Here is my

VS 2010 Temporary Internet Files - Get The Internet Address Property?

What I want to do is get into the temporary internet files, find a certain file....
(^^^ I can do that just fine (using specialfolders, etc) ^^^)
and get the internet address associated with it.

Oct 15, 2011we have our system running but our system needs to be modified because we did something wrong...we are doing an "Internet monitoring System" in our school library where the user can only access the internet 1hr a day, and he/she cannot use the internet within that day if he couldn't buy a time on a serve...every students should only have 20hrs time usage per semester...our problem is every day their 20hrs is being reduced in 1hr.. the rule is the time per semester which is 20hrs that is given to the students was reduced 1hr only if he uses the internet..but our system is reducing their 1hr every day.
